staff very friendly, & always willing to help out. cleanliness of rooms very good. complimentary check out until 18:00 was a plus point. I was over-charged for an extra bed I requested, but hotel were unwilling or unable to repay this to me. This I found very strange! Of course, if I owed them money it would be no problem for them to debit my card. I was treated as if this over-charge was my fault (in fact it was the fault of either booking.com or the hotels own reservations dept.)
Situated in a wonderful neighborhood; metro is around the corner connecting Catete with downtown and Copacabana. The hotel itself has everything a traveler need. Everything was perfect
The staff was very friendly, they even opened the breakfast for me half an hour earlier than normal because I had to leave so early! I had clearly booked a smoking room on booking.com, but apparently that information had not reached them. Also, booking.com stated this hotel was the closest hotel to the international Galeao airport, but it was really not close (45 minutes drive).
Superior rooms are worth the little bit extra. Very clean and modern. Helpful staff.
Hotel staff was very helpful. Breakfirst was god My room was very small, but I was very happy to get any room as I was really late. TV was not working but it did not matter to me.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Excellent location in a safe area. Easy access to metro and all major attractions.
The staff are friendly and helpful and provided excellent customer service. The internet is expensive and considering the price for the hotel room is high, internet should have been free.
The rooms are clean and comfortable. View from the bay side is very nice. The breakfast buffet was very good. Location was great for me, but the streets around the hotel are not for every one. A little dodgy at night. If you want to feel the real city, this is a good location. The staff are not nice, and sometimes even missleading. We were told that the train to Corcovado was open, when it was actually closed.
Internet availble, nice view over the Pao de Azucar
Location No Wireless internet in rooms. Took about 20 mins to check in
breakfast the room
Excellent location, helpful staff Hotel was under renovation during visit; moderately high street noise
Terrific access to Metro; terrific restaurant around the corner: the meal was charged based on the weight of the food chosen (sorry, can't remember name). We got a single bowl of soup from the buffet, and although it did not cost as much as the buffet, we were charged 50% of the price of the buffet. We were definitely overcharged for this.
The staff was very kind, good breakfast buffet, good location - close to underground station; the room was extremely large and had nice view. Although we received an upgrade for the room we paid, the bed and furniture was in old and poor condition, the windows did not offer proper sound proofing.
staff were helpful and location ideal for my trip The room had insects crwaling over the worktops and the aircon was very noisy and not very effective and the controls were loose. My colleague however, had a room on the 11th floor, which I visited which was good
The location adn view. Not a tourist place
The hotel has been refurbished and the rooms are clean and modern. The bed was comfortable and the linen and towels clean and in good condition. The breakfast buffet was excellent and the people at reception helpful. Catete metro station is just 4 minutes walk away and there are many shops and restaurants nearby. Our bathroom was pretty small but functional. There is a safe in the room and wifi was included in our rate. The air con works well but is so noisy that we had to turn it off during the night. All taxes were supposed to be included in our rate but they added 5% to our bill, so we had to complain to have it removed. There was a sign at reception saying that this hotel does not add tax to the bill, so I pointed at it and even so the receptionist had to call the Manager before adjusting it. The cleaners start making the rooms at 8am and there's a lot of noise from 7:30am anyway, so you can't have a lie in.
Beautiful room with balcony and sea view Very slow room service
Given the price of Rio hotels, this is remarkably good value. The staff were very friendly, and the majority spoke English. Generous breakfast. Very good rooms. Perhaps not the best location in Rio, but still convenient for city centre and beaches. Would thoroughly recommend as a good 3-4 star hotel.
Breakfast was very good, staff excellent. By Rio's disgraceful (expensive) standards it represented amazingly good value. Well located to visit the glory that once was Rio. Nothing particular about the hotel, which delivered what it promised. It might be worth noting that the beach just across the road from the hotel is occasionally quite dangerous as the sea is unexpectedly rough there; and dirty.
Great Breakfast. Good service. Clean facility. Great location We bought Samba dance/dinner show tickets from them. The samba was good but the dinner was in a Brazilian grill house churrascaria place. That grill place was very skimpy with their food and the quality was below par. They charged lot of money for very low quality drinks.
Helpful english-speaking staff on the reception desk. Clean rooms, nice location close to metro and to the Flamengo beach, pretty safe neighborhood. Abundant choice in buffet breakfast. Good value for that price, would definitely recommend it to my friends.
The hotel is clean, not noisy and very convenient located close to a Metro station. The breakfast is good.
It is a very nice hotel. Located in a good neigborhood. Lots of restaurants near by. Internet connection was poor in the room. I had to go to the lobby to get a good conection. Far away from good beaches.
Recently renovated building in a good location with friendly and helpful staff despite some minor difficulties
The hotel was clean and the water in the shower was perfect. I did not like seeing a security camera everywhere I looked. That made me terribly uncomfortable. Far too invasive.
Booking on Kayak we got a price well under the rates listed at the front desk. Two twin beds, very clean room, good breakfast, easy walk to the beach, and friendly staff that let us keep our bags at the front desk for the day after checking out. Great for a couple friends wanting to explore Flamengo.
Central location and staff were very helpfull
The staff were very helpful, efficient and friendly. Some of the fruit juice for breakfast was not very good.
Well situated, parking, very nice room and hotel, nice breakfast. Area young and a bit lively, but with some sex-shops as well. Area a bit lively and young but with some sex-shops at the same time. May not completely suit for a family, even if the hotel itself would perfectly do.
Very nice and helpful staff, cheap internet access and free use of the gym outside of the hotel. Rooms well cleaned, nothing fancy but good. Beware with the noise of rooms on the first floor. Nice neighborhood.
We like the rooms, the service its really good, and the breakfast, but can be better if they rotate more the menu, its always the same. But in general the hotel its ok, good. The noise of the others bathrooms. You can hear the noise clearly of the other rooms.
The staff were helpful, and the breakfast good. Location safe and relatively little road noise. Access to gym opposite an advantage. Air conditioning units need exterior covers since the noise of rain is loud in rooms.
Room was nice and breakfast was good. Staff were really friendly and helpful though their English was not always so good. We were busy in Rio but could have spend more time in the hotel.
the courtesy of the staff it seems a bit old
The location was good, close to restaurants, supermarkets, shops, subway and green areas (Flamengo park). The breakfast was also good, with many different good options. We booked a room with a jacuzzi but when we tried to use it there was water all over the bathroom. There was an intense smell of smoke in the room. I asked the staff to take care of it but it didn't work and the smell remained during our whole stay.
location, staff, rooms, breakfast
Nice, big, clean room with a good shower. Free use of internet, breakfast included, nice front staff and good location.
Staff was very attentive even though there was very bad language barrier between us. The free breakfast was great! The hotel food was good. Make sure you take a book or pocket translator for Portuguesse, you're going to need it. Oh yea, you will definitively have to adjust to the bed.
helpful staff non functioning air conditioning
The location and they really try to comfort you and to help you, although the average English spoken bij the staff is not very well
Nice location, Rio is a great city. Close to two subway stations. Spacious room. Good breakfest. Room was a bit dirty, but not to much.
Ubication, price The hotel has faliures in the manteinance of common areas
The room price was good, the bill boys were good too, and the free breakfast was good. Charging me 2 Brazilian reales for the key to the safe, ie. using the safe.
Good place to stay during working stay. Clean, quiet and good level of comfort. Regular breakfast. Nothing to say. The Hotel is good compared with others, in the same range of price - it had been renewed
Location is good, but not near the beaches. The price is ok too. The rooms are cleans and the employees are very friendly. Breakfast is good, but we didn`t like the soup at the dinner. We tried only once to have dinner at the hotel.
The staff was very friendy and helpful. The booking.com web site said there was wired internet in the rooms but there was no wired internet in the rooms.
AC worked well, showers good, bed large and comfortable and staff were pleasant and helpful the price
Central and very quiet location (although a bit isolated and dark at night) , good bathroom , reasonable breakfast , attentive staff Bed cover and air conditioner were dusty but were changed/ cleaned when asked , bed was on the hard side and could be softer , other guests should not smoke in the corridor
Renorveted hence clean. Communication in English was a big problem
The hotel was well located, useful for getting to the Sambadrome but also good for getting to other places as there is Gloria metro station very close by. The staff were extremely helpful, and they really went out of their way to help me. I stayed here during Carnival and I participated in Rio Carnival parade, and when I left they kept my Carnival costume for me (which was large) for several days while I went travelling around in another state (Minais Gerais), even though I didn´t have a further reservation with them. They kept it and let me collect it several days later as it was too cumbersome to travel with. So a big thank you to the gentleman named ´Gentil´ on Reception - it was very much appreciated! Top marks :o) I suppose the immediate vicinity was a bit dark not so safe very late at night. But I used to get the Metro all the time (which is really cheap) and then hopped in a taxi for the last little bit of the journey, from Gloria Metro station to the hotel - it cost next to nothing to do this, about 2 Euro. I was a lone female traveller and this certainly didn´t stop me getting about or enjoying my stay there.
Big room. Big bed. LCD TV. Calm place. Bathroom a little dirty (some hair on floor)
Clean rooms and good service from the maids and security. Breakfast was good and the waiters tending to your breakfast were extremely nice and helpful. front desk was extremely rude, watch your every move and keep tabs on you as a guest (I felt like an intruder as opposed to a guest at times, too much money for what you get, and question every guest you bring in to see whether they are staying with you the night so they can try to charge you more money for an extra person. Overall not a great place to stay.
Its convenient location to Metro.Very authentic orange juice for breadfast. It would be great if the staff could converse in simple English - to facilitate our conversation.
Large room overlooking the park. Convenient location. Uninspiring breakfast.
cleanliness Intial resposnse about the reservation-- on line booking confirmation was for 3 rooms, where as hotel staff confirmed only one room.
the staff were friendly and the location was good. My air con in the room didn´t work and the windows didn´t lock.
Good location. Our room had a view to a nice park over the street with not heavy traffic. The staff has problems with English language. Safebox in our room was out of order.
Location Reception staff were not helpful when the safe did not work (actually it never got fixed during our stay). We got the room that wasn't overlooking main street and there was hardly any window/natural light, very mouldy but clean.
If you are satisfied with the things you get, is this an exellent choice to stay. Quiet in the front of a parc and a safe neighbourhood. The personal friendly and very helpfull. I special want to thank Joãn for all the help!
The location is excellent, close to metro station, santos dumont airport, and to lots of restaurants It is very expensive to use the hotel telefone, even for local calls. Also better bath towels would be nice
Good location, clode to Catete Metro. Can easily catch any buses to other places in Rio. The air conditioner in the room is too old, the control panel is not functioning (temperature cannot be adjusted), the adjustable louvers were missing...I ended up have to cover the blower with cloth, cause it was too cold when I turned it on...
The view toward park (front room) the elevator...
Good central location, clean and modern hotel, good bed and showers. Breakfast was described as continental in Booking.com, but was really a full breakfast. Room was small and had no space for luggage - we put one suitcase on the fridge and one in the closet. A lot of street noise.
Location, breakfast, one extremely friendly young receptionist with poney tail. We booked for 12 nights and specifically asked for a quiet room with outside view, requirement which could only be met after 8 nights stay. Hotel has some front- and backside rooms which are the best, the others are located around a central patio. Each "inside" room has a single glass window with "view" on patio, which makes it extremely noisy (even with ear plugs), especially when the elevator is out of order. Hotel is popular with package tours which adds to the noisyness. Badly organised reception, they once even lost our room key (no doubles) to find it after half an hour among some receipts. For lower price but same quality, though 1-2 streets further away from waterfront, you can find cheaper and quieter hotels.
Next to Rio City Center and Praia do Flamengo, its central location make it next to the best attractions in Rio. It is also next to Catete metro station. Nothing is really bad, nothing is great. For the price i've stayed in better places.
Location is very convenient, breakfast was good The internet service was terrible, the staff was nice but pouty and not very helpful, the AC kept blowing a fuse, the room had ants in it and we were inundated by mosquitoes, the bed was uncomfortable
