Pretty good all round experience. The staff in particular were superb. High quality feel to the offices and overall experience. Check-in was a little tricky due to the split nature of the registration and garage desks, but not terrible. We went to the wrong one first.

A car was available for me to drive. That was good. The bad: 1) Original quote was for £ 275 - the local Hertz desk charged me £ 691 and tried to charge me over £ 800!! 2) I requested an automatic transmission and got a stick 3) there was a huge scratch in the rear passenger door 4) There was no return sign at the Inverness airport for Hertz, all the other rental car agencies were represented but not Hertz. We had to drive around for 10 min trying to find it, and luckily saw the tiny Hertz sign upon leaving the airport. Kind of a disaster regarding the drop off.

Finding the Green Motion at Waverley Station was very challenging. It was located in a parking garage with no clear markers or signs. We had to ask for help from multiple people to find the office. Once we arrived, the extra fees for insurance were extremely expensive. The hidden fees after they lure you in feel very scam like. The car itself was comfortable and clean. No complaints there, but when we went to drop off the vehicle, they wanted to charge us upwards of 400 pounds for a dent that already existed when we got the car. The staff were extremely rude and condescending about it, and made no offer for us to speak with upper management. They proceeded to tell us we were liable for costs even though when we picked up the car they said it had the dent. Everything about this agency felt underhanded and deceiving, like their ultimate goal is to get as much money from you as possible, but lure you in initially with the best price. I would NOT recommend Green Motion to anyone traveling and in search of a rental vehicle.

The harassment you receive on check in is exhausting. They don't accept the additional insurance you buy online, they charge you £1500 as a hold, and then threaten that you'll be liable for all £40,000 that the car is valued for if you don't show a million dollar insurance through your credit card or take on another £200+ in fees. Very shady business indeed.

Predatory practices around car damage, and didn't accept the 3rd party insurance coverage that I had purchased. At the point of pickup I then needed to provide additional coverage through my credit card. Poor communication and customer service throughout.

Kiosk style mobile pickup in an underground garage where there is no phone reception. The credit card reader wasn’t working and they wanted to drive me to another location to pay. It took 40 minutes, even though I was the only customer and they decided at the end to use their own network to call in my payments and details to the other station. On return at 515 pm there was no one there and no sign of any kind, such as explaining where the key drop was. The Budget phone lines close at 4pm (one) and 5 pm (the other). Very annoying.

The car was to come with a GPS but it wasn’t installed. They don’t provide portable GPS units. Fortunately we have a cell phone with us and the charge cord fits. They were very helpful in explaining the car’s features and the car manual was supplied.

You can’t hire a car here if you don’t have a credit card with your name on it. So they asked me to pay for insurance which is double the price of renting the car. I don’t recommend this place, its also complicated to navigate to reach their office to pick up and drop the car.

It was booked without the insurance that I required to drive away. I consequently had to pay an additional £85 on pickup in order to get the car. Thereby invalidating the claimed price. Since kayak, booked through Expedia, which booked through routes, which actually just booked through europcar, no one there had any idea why they let the booking happen at all. Surely this is a problem. Can I have my money back for false advertising? Cheers
