9.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful place have always wanted to stay here. The room was a little small and we could not open a window. We did enjoy the pool.
Cons: I really felt that a Hotel of this quality and price should have a great restaurant and a cool bar. The food here for Oaxaca is very middle of the road. Pricey place.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: Noisy room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was amazing. Vincente was so gracious and helpful. The property was elegant as well as historical. Breakfast was wonderful and the individual courtyards were wonderful.
Cons: There was nothing that we would change.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel with so much history. Great service; professional and personable staff.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel. Perfect staff.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Very good location in Oaxaca and beautiful historical building!!!
Cons: They promote themselves as “gran clas” Hotel but: Politeness of staff: especially the receptionists are poor and arrogant. Eg: We were not informed about the full day huge wedding party in the main hall and the pool area which resulted in very limited access to the pool area for all other guests. Room 238 was quite nice and quite but bathroom needs complete renovation and modernization. Blanket is very heavy and not comfortable. Gym is extremely small. All in all: totally overpriced - not worth the money!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: We were in room 227. It was clean and spacious but it was dark. You need to install more lights in ceiling.
Cons: Room was very dark even with window and curtains open.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfectly located, beautiful grounds and pool, large clean room, attentive service- what more could you ask for? My 22 year old daughter didn't want to leave. Neither did I, will certainly return.
Cons: Nada! Great place on quiet street so close to everything
7.0 Good
Pros: The building is stunning and the ambience was wonderfully serene. It transports you. The pool was a welcome bonus, especially on a hot day. The most delectable restaurants and sights are within walking distance. The entire town is encapsulated in time.
Cons: Our room was far too dark. The only window we had faced an outside wall, was on a corner and made the room feel sadly austere. We were celebrating our 15 year anniversary and we ended up with a two twin beds. We asked for 5 nights to be moved, but were not accommodated.
7.0 Good
Pros: The hotel is stunning. The location is great - it feels like a slice of history. Breakfast is lovely, and the people doing the food service were lovely.
Cons: While we were traveling with two other couples, we were also there with our 6 year old son. We took a room with two queens, which turned out to be two large double beds - just slightly too small to sleep comfortably for a couple in one of the beds. But the room was big. There is a lovely pool, but the music is blaring all day long - sometimes the music is ok - sometimes it was annoying sometimes it was hard to hear. They had an event on a Friday, and the music from the event competed with the pool music. There were two events over the weekend, of which we had been unaware of when booking. On Saturday, we had to share the pool area all day with a wedding. ALL DAY! And they were blasting the music so loud from the afternoon until after 10, that it was unpleasant to sit at the pool. We specifically chose the hotel so we could take our child to the pool - and it was unfair to assume that people at the hotel should share the facilities with a wedding from mid day until bed time, especially with such unbarably loud music. The event should not be allowed to be so long, and the music was way way way too loud. Not fair for the price that we paid. I had been longing to stay in this hotel for decades - and while the physical hotel was charming, the place was run like an enormous Hilton. With the exception of the barman and the chamber maid, the service was impersonal. The atmosphere felt like staying at the airport, which is totally contradictory to the beauty of the hotel. With the exception of breakfast, I was surprised that the food wasn't better. The margaritas and guacamole tasted as though it had been stocked in the refrigerator for some time - not fresh. We ordered dinner a couple of nights at the pool which was sub par. The prices were reasonable, but food could be better! That being said, I cannot imagine staying in a more beautiful hotel - They need more attention to the comfort and wellbeing of the residents - a warmer welcome would be welcome!

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location was excellent
Cons: Noise from street and you a hear everything from other guests when they are in the common areas.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: the hotel is situated in a great location easy to walk to everywhere. Architecturally, the hotel is a beautiful old building with inner courtyards and plants. Rooms are a bit dated and ho-hum, but totally acceptable.
Cons: CasAntica changed the terms and price of our stay after we had already arrived. They refused to give us a credit at the restaurant which they had previously offered via email, so there can be no dispute about the agreement. Terrible business practice.
8.0 Excellent
Cons: Food and wine choices not the best
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was great, as was the location. We could walk anywhere from this location. We only ate at the restaurant once, but it was good too. The pool was clean and warm. The front desk workers were very helpful.
Cons: Our room was a little odd, in that it had no windows, and the door didn't lock very well. I never felt unsafe, but it seemed like you could open the door with a credit card. We found if you turned the key more a bolt lock would come out. The room had an air conditioner which worked, but appeared to have mold above it, so we quit using it. Our friends had a smaller room by the pool, and it worked out fine for them.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location for saying in historic Oaxaca City. A few streets from Zocalo, markets, Santo Domingo Cathedral. Hotel is charming with two beautiful courtyard areas and a sunny second floor terrace. We enjoyed the pool and lounging at the property enjoying mezcal. Hotel staff ordered our taxi to the airport and we always felt safe. Will stay again!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Hotel CasAntica is a quiet oasis in the city. - well located right in the historic centre - walking distance to city highlights - charming, old world feel - comfortable public space on an upper floor - a very small, shallow pool - lovely staff in the restaurant
Cons: - the room we were assigned was a disappointment: very small, cramped, dark (no window) at the back of the hotel - if choosing this hotel, request a room in the front courtyard area, not in the back of the hotel
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good bed and nice ambiance and location.
Cons: I booked for the pool which was so hot and small I could not swim in it.
7.0 Good
Pros: Difficult hotel pool to get in and out of, even if one has no mobility issues. No bed side lamps, dark rooms if staying on first floor. Pleasant staff, but hotel seems overpriced for Oaxaca.
Cons: See above comments.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is great. Staff very helpful. Great morning espresso in lobby restaurant. Ricardo arranged a mezcal tour and we got our laundry done will out for the day.

Pros: The overall installations of the hotel are pleasant. The staff is very friendly and willing to help. The location is easy accessible, located on an well connected avenue.
Cons: Some minor details in the maintenance of the room. For example there was some rust on the bathroom. And the drawers in the room were poorly adjusted making them hard to open and close. The AC was a bit too loud.

Pros: The staff was friendly and helpful. Everything was spotless clean. Shower in 311 didn’t work.
4.2 Okay
Pros: Nothing
Cons: AC didn’t work well, it made lots of noise and did niot cool. Had to put it on to avoid the noose at night in halls of children running/drunks returning. Room not so clean. Not walking distance. Do not pay more than 50US

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Quiet, excellent bed, friendly people, beautiful pool and roof terrace. Our “superior room” was large with a micro-balcony overlooking the garden and pool. Great location
Cons: Rooms are very simple style but clean. Breakfast is only ok. There are coffee shops and bakeries within 2 blocks are good breakfast options
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was good except there were times when the staff had a difficult time keeping up with the large groups. Great location. Some of the restaurant staff were exceptionally helpful.
Cons: A couple of our bags were misplaced when we left them there for storage.
4.0 Okay

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel it's so pretty and cosy. The staff is kind, professional and friendly and the hotel is in a great position.
Cons: The rooms aren't soundproofed and especially in the morning you can hear too much noise
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location! Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff! I will definitely stay here again when in Oaxaca
5.1 Okay
Pros: Great staff and clean facilities
Cons: TERRIBLE wifi that doesn't reach rooms, the most hard uncomfortable beds ever, and hardly any outlets to charge devices
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Very convenient to tourist attractions, galleries, museums, street fairs. Tall young woman on the morning staff was bi-lingual, very friendly and gave the best hints about finding items (ibuprofen, coffee) in the neighborhood. The restaurant was quite good (especially the shrimp pasta) and in the mid-range price-wise (as is the hotel). The bed was firm (as I like it) and overall it made a budget-conscious trip very affordable. There is a programmable safe in the room which can easily fit a camera, a laptop, lenses, and valuable documents without issue.
Cons: The windows on interior rooms are arranged around small shafts that carry sound -- other guests, showers, etc. This was an issue after 1 a.m. Additionally, there was renovation being done on hotel rooms from very early in the day, most days of the week (including weekends). The pool is relatively small and in a courtyard surrounding by the building so that hours of poolside sunlight are limited. Since I was there for more than a week, these items came in to play. I don't offer this as criticism, just for awareness when booking. Also, there is an envelope for tips on the nightstand -- when I had no small bills to put inside, service declined. I preferred less service, but even when I left the do not disturb sign on the door, I found my room cleaned. I am a very private person, so this felt a little bit like a violation.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The style of the building, the location, the breakfast
Cons: The forniture is a bit old, but it’s a very good value for money overall!

6.7 Good
Pros: Friendly staff at reception. Massage service was good. Nice to have a swimming pool. Breakfast (vegetarian only like all foods there) was pretty good.
Cons: The coffee was only decaf unfortunately ( restaurant ethos I imagine ). Need a taxi or bus to centre of Oaxaca ( to be fair, these are easy to get and inexpensive).
7.9 Good
Pros: Great value for money, the buffet breakfast was extensive. Comfortable enough beds and pillows - its budget accommodation so don't expect luxury. We stayed in a few hotels in Oaxaca and this was the best in terms of value for money. The grounds are immaculate and the pool so nice to chill away the heat of the day by. Staff were nice and friendly.
Cons: Could do with more sun loungers, only have 4. The walls are pretty thin but you can't really get away from street noise in the city, make sure you travel with airplugs if you're sensitive to such things. Our bathroom was pretty dated and shabby, though well cleaned.
5.0 Okay
Cons: Beds were very uncomfortable and pool closed super early also restaurant food was bad
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The grounds very well maintained. The spa I highly recommend it.
Cons: Tranquility and very safe hotel
5.8 Okay
Pros: Staff is pretty kind, specially at restaurant
Cons: My room had pretty old and obsolete furniture; windows and walls are thin, so it was really noisy and cold

9.6 Excellent
Pros: A great central location, unique property, many options on the breakfast buffet, staff very helpful and friendly. They have solar hot water heating system so there are even hot showers. It can take awhile for water temp to warm up depending on what floor you’re on and a bit tricky to regulate in our room but a minor inconvenience if at all.
Cons: If you have difficulty with stairs ask for a ground level room. There are no elevators which wasn’t a problem for us but might be for some.
7.5 Good
Pros: Well located, good breakfast
Cons: Overpriced and water pressure in shower is not strong
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Central location, pretty nice breakfast, considerable rooms & bed
Cons: During our stay, there was a lot of work going on around the hotel. The noise and smells were a bit of a drag, but our room was nice and quiet at night
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Room was extremely clean and comfortable. Location couldn’t be any better.
Cons: Wifi strength is a bit irregular. Shower has very little pressure and had to calm reception a couple of times because of lack of hot water.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Room was clean.
Cons: My room 406 had no hot water. I advised the staff 3 times with no results. Very poor lighting in bathroom. Would not stay there again
1.0 Poor
Pros: The entertainment in the evening was 3 amazing opera singers.
Cons: The rooms were covered in mold dripped from the ceiling and were unhealthy to stay in. When I pointed at the fridge that was covered in rust and leaking all over the floor, I was told that they would mop it up and if we did not plug it in then it would not happen again. The espresso machine at the coffee bar leaked so badly that the coffee was full of grounds and and very weak. The restaurants were unappealing, the steak advertised as filet mignon was a tough piece of stewing steak and the sauce on my friends pasta tasted like ketchup. In fact it was so bad after one night we left and went somewhere else even though we could not get our money back.
3.7 Mediocre
Pros: The location was good...... Close to Centro. Coffee, yogurt, granola and papaya were nice for breakfast.
Cons: We had NO hot water. This hotel claims to be pet-friendly on this website but we were surprised on check-in with Terri's flippant comment that dogs weren't allowed. I showed her the reservation sites which state that they allowed pets. She said the info was a mistake! I offered to leave for a refund but she permitted us to stay....As it was raining...We were grateful but cannot recommend this hotel since we couldn't even shower, the water was ice cold. I've since read that this is typical.

3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The bed and room was very adequate.
Cons: Sadly, the hotel and the room was right next to a karaoke bar making it nearly impossible to sleep without earplugs.
5.0 Okay
Cons: It’s the first time I have been to a hotel or hostel in all parts of the world and they refused to store our luggage. We had to catch the night bus and the receptionist refused to keep our luggage saying that hotel is small and they have no space. She refused to let us talk to a manger or someone in charge and was nit helpful at all. We ended up having to go to a nearby hotel and pay them for storing our luggage. The beds are really hard and uncomfortable .
7.9 Good
Pros: The location is great!
Cons: Some of the Rezeption girls have watched 2 broke girls to much and seriously need to work on their attitude.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice staff and accommodating
Cons: All good

Cons: The room is next to the laundry. It was little bit noisy
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Service was great.
5.7 Okay
Pros: Convenient location, clean and good value
Cons: Very noisy neighborhood with bar and disco location next door.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is only a 3 to 5 minute walk to city center. The location is great if your wanting to take a walk or if you are more into street shopping, vendors are close by. Both girls in the front desk are really friendly.
Cons: My pillow sham was dirty. They could do better when it comes to the sheets and pillow sham. When you take a shower, water splatters everywhere. They should really invest into sliding glass door.
7.9 Good
Pros: This was a great property if you want to see the Mexican markets. Beds are very firm. Good AC and good WiFi. Have to park your vehicle several blocks away but not a bad walk.
Cons: Beds very hard.

Pros: The beds were SO comfortable! Slept like the dead. Room was super quiet. The included breakfast was very good. Complimentary tea in the evening is a nice touch and a water filter in the cafeteria is also a nice touch.
Cons: Service was hit or miss at the front desk. Depended on who you spoke with.

Pros: Location and cleanliness
Cons: Breakfast could be improved
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location near the city old town. Rooms and service are usual for City Express hotels, everything is good. Parking inside a hotel so you can see your car from your room.
Cons: Breakfast starts a bit later than it should started (15-30 minus later). It's ok for us but if you need to get up really early, you should be aware of it.
7.5 Good
Pros: Room was very clean.
Cons: Not enough parking spaces, room wasn’t too big for a family of 4 (no closet to put away clothes). The lady who helped me to check in, said “singing” that the room was not paid instead of saying how the process on booking.com was. She was rude.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great location clean and 24 hours reception. Staff very helpful
Cons: Breakfast a little messy and food ran out quickly but no one topped up proactively.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: After booking a place that was infested with bugs (Hotel Cosijo), we were lucky enough to find City Express Oaxaca. It was everything that was described. The room was clean, nicely decorated, had a/c & heat, hot water. The location was walking distance from the centro. It reminded me of a Marriott. Would stay here again.

Pros: It’s peaceful and quiet. Beautiful views and it was a relaxing stay. Also, the pool was great!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Reserve the superior King rooms. Huge room with a wonderful view. Great staff, nice big pool area, nice restaurant too!
1.0 Poor
Pros: The waiters in the restuarant were very friendly. Food was good. Water pressure was excellent.
Cons: Managers and front desk people were useless. They had maintenance going on until 9pm at night. Hammering tack strips for carpet into concrete. Had a big party until 12:30am with music so loud I could sing to songs. Next night another party with very loud DJ and music. Went to front desk asking they assist by changing room or something...nothing. We asked to see the manager Sunday night. We were told he was in a "room.' All the noise continued and finally front desk got approval for desk manager to tell maintenance workers to stop hammering. The manager could not be bothered with paying customers. Shower floor was disgusting. Housekeeping would short us towels everyday so we had to repeatedly get more towels for showering. There are way too many other hotels to ever stay at this hotel. Maintenance work needs to continue as the hotel seems old and dated.

Pros: I love the view of Oaxaca at night from my room and from the restaurant and the bar. The shuttle bus was very helpful. And the pool was beautiful. I like being served poolside by a nice waiter.
Cons: Lots of stairs but I am okay with that. But some people may find them daunting The loud music from the wedding kept me awake on my last night. Maybe it could have stopped a little earlier.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The gardens, the included breakfast was amazing
Cons: A little bit outdated
5.8 Okay
Pros: Good location, just a short walk into town. The bed and bathroom were clean.
Cons: It’s really outdated and could do with a revamp. It’s also pretty big so the staff aren’t particularly accommodating, although the porters were lovely.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were spacious and very clean. The food was great, and a good introduction to Oaxacan cuisine. Location is also practical if you are coming or leaving with an ADO bus.
Cons: Overall a good hotel, but if you are a young solo traveller, don't expect this place to be fun. The staff is professional, not friendly. It's a business-people and family oriented hotel.
