This location tried to up charge the vehicle charge from 120 to 600 and when I showed him the booking confirmation he claimed it was a mystery car and then came back with oh it’s and EV we have 6 of those available otherwise everything is sold out except the suv for $600/a day.. not what the booking confirmation showed so we rebooked with Enterprise no hikes, gimmicks or price gauging. Simple straightforward and for hundreds less!

Rental company tried to force me to take an electric vehicle saying it was their choice. I was told the car had a driving range of 200 miles and must be returned with 70% of battery life. Rental companies are stuck with electric cars that are not wanted by renters. This was a bait and switch situation. I was forced to take the large SUV at a higher price.

I booked a "mystery" car and was delighted with the car I got. Price was very good, and the counter service was excellent. Long wait for shuttle was the worst part, and lack of correct signage on leaving the airport was next worst (I ended up at a freeway entrance that was blocked off), but Budget was responsible for neither.

They overcharged me, the staff is very rude and unhelpful (Mary/Mariella in Oakland front desk) she wouldn't even try to help. Customer service on the phone has been a waste of time and am still waiting for a refund email.

After waiting for 10 min they said my car wasn't available. Waited another 10 min and then canceled. Staff was not customer friendly and did not respond well to or resolve my complaints. When I said I was going to Alamo one staff member said"good luck" sarcastically.

Pickup was easy but later we discovered the driver side front lock did not work and when you started the car up and backed up, the brakes made an awful sound. Brought these to the attention of the manager when we brought the car back. They did an investigation but we have not heard back from them.

When I arrived at the airport to pick up my car there were almost 80 people in line with one person working the counter. It took me over an hour and a half to get to the desk. Will never do this again.

Cons:

I did not know return procedure for after hours return. It was unclear if I was to leave the key in the car or inside. The office was closed and I finally learned from another customer about the drop box.

At Sacramento airport, they did not honor the amount I had with online reservation. I have $11.00 something on insurance and they sid they have their own insurance at $ 17.00 so I have to get their higher insurance.

I was charged more than I was quoted when I reserved the car, then they charged me a cleaning fee for sand that would easily vacuum up with the standard interior cleaning they do to every returned car (no mud, staining, or anything that would require scrubbing or a cleaning agent). I rent a lot of cars and have never had these problems. This seems like a blatant rip-off.

Time sto th he clerk window to pick car could have been shorter Kayak should ask fir hertz account number in reservation so Hertz has profile already at checkin. Hertz normally upgrades at pickup as a President circle renter. Through Kayak, no upgrade came. Do I will book directly with hertz later not Kayak!

There was no truck available. I was offered a small SUV. I waited for the truck. It was not clean inside or out. It was very dusty inside, and the truck had a smokey odor. I had to go back to the counter to request another truck. I waited over a hour.

Cons:

Waited in line for an hour to get to the counter due to a lack of counter personnel. Hertz customers were getting their rentals with only a reasonable wait. Counter person sent us to the wrong space for our car. Found it using the remote

Staff was extremely friendly, however it was a hertz employee because you guys only had one representative. I felt bad because the line was long and a lot of ppl were upset at her but clearly it was not her fault.

The car smelled smoky inside. Alamo should have cleaned and aired out the car a few times before renting it again. It smelled like they tried to clean it, but it wasn't enough

Cons:

I rented a Premium class car and they gave me a Chevrolet Malibu. As I loaded the car and began to set the mirrors, seat, etc… I noticed a bad smell. Like someone had smoked in the car or something, so I rolled down the windows and continued but once I started driving the car the smell got worse. I also noticed a warning light on the dash. Being only a short way away I returned to the rental area. I explained what happened, and the agent smelled the car and apologized. He said he was going to provide an upgraded car and he told me I could have the Infiniti Q60. I didn’t know what that was, but once I saw it I told the agent it wouldn’t work as it was too small and only had two doors. He said it was a much upgraded car and that he didn’t have anything else. So I loaded the new car and was on my way. After a few miles I began to get cold as the a/c was pushing cold air very strongly. I tried to turn it off, but couldn’t figure out the system. Also, this was a night and the dashboard was lit way too bright, but none of the manual controls were illuminated (a/c, radio, etc). Again, I couldn’t find a way to dim the light. No scrolling wheel near the steering wheel like most models. It must have been in the electronic settings somewhere, but I couldn’t find it. Finally, as I drove back to the airport the following day I noticed the dash clock was like 10 hours off. I also couldn’t find the method to set the clock on the dash. To say the least I was not happy with the rental. I share that at the return counter and after some time they returned some of my rental fee, but that didn’t not negate the fact I didn’t have a suitable car or one that was easy to use during my shirt stay. I hope Alamo considers this in the future when renting future cars.

Staff was inconsistent in the information they gave me. It cost me hours of time, and I missed the event I was in town to see. I made an error, and didn’t have what I needed to pick up my rental. Instead of telling me in the beginning the pickup would be impossible, I ran around wasting time trying to complete their suggested work around. After paying for and providing a printout of what I was told by their staff I needed, they still did not allow me to pick up my rental. The situation I was in was my fault, but the way their staff handled was extraordinarily disappointing.
