Staff was friendly and helpful
As an older hotel I understand you can only do so much, but it would be nice if the hallway noise level could be controlled.

Only supplied with complimentary water for the first night Skateboarders in the square were quite noisy and irritating
Location : the best in Madrid , closed to the 4 great museums of the city, less than 10mn walk far from the historical center, a taxi station at the main entrance door. Very comfortable rooms, most of them with a spectacular view on the spanish Parliament. Staff : quite nice and professional . Incredible collection of greek and roman antiques worth of a museum.

A hotel with an unbeatable location and serving a fantastic breakfast. Well appointed rooms. Very helpful with bag storage, arranging taxis etc
Noise, noise noise!!! The sound insulation between rooms is non-existent, I heard every conversation my neighbours were having in the rooms at either side, people coughing and sneezing all night, you could even hear people using the WC. Even earplugs could not block out the all night door-slamming contest in the corridor. My room was clean and comfortable but I didn't sleep a wink for four nights. I left feeling exhausted and wishing I'd booked somewhere else that offered far better value and a good night's sleep. Regrettably I booked two consecutive weekends at Hotel Villa Real, different rooms / floors each time. Same noise problem in both and the shower was blocked in the first room and water leaked onto the bathroom floor. Staff seemed very unhappy with me for reporting it. Reception staff were very efficient and polite but I never saw them smile.
