The 10 best hotels in Houston

Discover the top hotels in Houston handpicked by local expert Charu Suri.

True to its character and diversity, Houston is an intellectual paradise: from NASA to several world-class museums you can be both enlightened and educated in this city. I visit Houston often with my family, and am always delighted by the fact that hotels here cater to kids and adults alike (water slides, for instance, coexist on the same property with cool cocktail bars). With well over 800 hotels, The Bayou City has no shortage of options when it comes to lodging, from luxury to boutique hotels. If you’re a value seeker like I am, there are plenty of budget accommodations that will be easy on the wallet; but ever so often, I splurge on lavish digs that make me feel like royalty so I’ve included some of these in my expert picks below. The best hotels in Houston list covers my top picks discovered on my repeat trips to this city.

1.

The Lancaster Hotel

Address:

701 Texas Street

Price:

AED 808-AED 5,728/night

I make an effort to find places right in the heart of a city because that’s where I feel most alive. One of my top choices, especially when I’m looking to treat myself, is The Lancaster Hotel, one of the luxury hotels in downtown Houston.
This hotel is a treat for architecture enthusiasts who will love the Regency-style interiors. However, it’s not style over substance at the Lancaster, which boasts over a century of service and hospitality. The hotel’s intimate vibe means you’ll feel perfectly at home in any of its 93 unique rooms. Spacious artist suites that come with a separate living room are perfect to evoke the muse.
But perhaps the loveliest room of all is the Playwright Penthouse Suite, which features arched windows and a built-in bookcase that holds a variety of literature, from poetry to manuscripts.

2.

Blossom Hotel Houston

Address:

7118 Bertner Avenue

Price:

AED 452-AED 6,871/night

When I travel, I like to embrace my inner foodie. So, it’s natural that one of my picks for top hotels in Houston is the Blossom Hotel, a lunar-inspired boutique hotel perfect for culinary-conscious travelers. The new 13th-floor restaurant, Hibiscus, which offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner, is an ode to farm-to-table fusion cuisine.
Dishes like chili wontons, artisanal salads, and salmon will appeal to the wellness-minded. The rooms are particularly spacious and sunlit, pet-friendly (because no one wants to leave their furry friend at home!), and feature high-end amenities.
I love testing the gym in just about every place I go, and this hotel checks all the boxes on that front, with a fitness center outfitted by Peloton. It’s the perfect place to work up an appetite!

3.

The Post Oak Hotel at Uptown Houston

Address:

1600 West Loop South

Price:

AED 1,513-AED 12,461/night
