Hotel staff were proactive and accommodating in meeting our needs
pros:felt very safe, staff was very pleasant, restaurant food was good, good plumbing (rare in Ecuador), great location, excellent wifi signal, tv Cons: beds were super hard, I actually was sore after my stay, dated rooms with musty smell, closets smelled bad, feet were black if walked barefoot in room. Was charged $40 more a day for one person ( expensive)
Very nice hotel, good food, walkable location, very clean, friendly staff Our room was under the gym and we were awoken at 5am to a person on the treadmill, it sounded like a strong subwoofer in our room. Knowing this was a problem, the hotel moved us to a different room to let us sleep (after 3 phone calls and a visit to the front desk finally demanding a move). They gave us free breakfast for our trouble, around $25. It's a know problem for them, but they take the risk knowing the odds of someone using the treadmill in the 24 hr gym is low.
New, very friendly staff. Nicer than Oro Verde. I will stay here the next time I'm in Guayaquil.
Good service and very clean. Kitchen is open until 10:30pm so if you flight arrives there after that then you will starve until the next day. The shuttle service starts at 6:15 am which means if you have a flight earlier than that then you must take a taxi in which can not be charged to the room since they dont do that. So make sure you have cash at hand cab ride toairport is approx $6.
If you want to be treated like a VIP at all times & be pampered like one, this is the place to stay at in Guayaquil. I can honestly tell you that I have stayed there 4 times & each time it has been the same, the staff, the room, the food has always been nothing but the best. Plus every once in awhile you find yourself hanging out with celebs like Luis Miguel & Marc Anthony!!
I have spent 5 weeks in the Howard Johnson on business and 3 weeks in the Hotel del Rey in Guayaquil. The Unipark hotel is 10 minutes from the airport in downtown Guayaquil (taxi cost $5). It is opposite the Iguana park and 3 blocks from Malecon 2000. There is a shopping mall within the hotel complex, includes a hairdresser. Web access within the room is via cable and is good. Security is good as you need a room card to access the elevator. There is also a sushi bar. The rooms are good and spacious, includes a mini-bar. Room service is 24 hours. Compared to what is available in Guayaquil (Hilton, Sheriton, Howard Johnson) this is a good hotel at the Internet price. The official price is $140 + 22%. I would stay here again (I have just booked another 4 days here).
Maybe a 10 min ride from the aiport. If you contact the hotel directly they will send a bus drive to pick you up and the only cost is the tip. Staff is top notch profesionals, they are very respectfull and make you feel special. The hotels decor is beatifull and the breakfast buffet is awesome. Everytime I travel to Guayaquil I will be staying at this hotel. Like I said the staff is easy to talk to you, very curteous and they trully make you feel special.
Although I told them early on that I would like to stay in the same room which I had through the group I was traveling with, they made me change the room and took an hour before helping me move. They should at least have offered me a free breakfast (which was not included) for my inconvenience
Location was great. Internet access was too slow to even read email, and then was down for more than a day.
Stayed here before and after my trip to the Galapagos. Very convenient to the airport and sites around Guayaquil. The staff was very accomadating (arrived early and left late). Safe area. They could have been more helpful on what to do in Guayaquil or restaurants to go to.
Beds very comfortable A bit of a musty smell in hallway and room
I stayed there for 5 weeks on business. It is close to the airport (4 minutes). Rooms are good. Security is good. 24 hour room service. For Internet I used a cable in the room. The bar and restaurant staff are very friendly (I used to spend time with them teaching them English). \n\nIf you are here for a long stay like me then I went to the Sheriton and Hilton in the evening. Both hotels have a sushi bar and live entertainment which the Howard Johnson does not have.\n\nYou can walk to the Sheraton (5 minutes) and local restaurants (2 minutes). The Mal de Sol is only 5 minutes walk away. The Hilton is a $2 taxi ride away.
Not knowing what to expect in a foreign country, we were a little uneasy, especially arriving at midnight. The staff was very helpful, and understood how tired we were. Got our room right away, and we were very surprised and relieved, it was great. We had hot fresh apple cider right in the lobby, with real apple pieces in it...delicious. the bed was heavenly. Our stay there was not long, but we did stay there on our return also, and we have made our reservations there for our future trip to Ecuador this fall! Thanks Howard Johnsons!
The best Hotel of Guayaquil, comfortables romms, spacious and next to malls
The Room was not in the executive floor whereas I reserved executive room. The Internet is worthless as the wireless did not reach my room.
Very nice hotel for my first trip to Guayaquil, I felt that the value was very good for the price. Great experience with the staff. In addition I felt very safe and secure. I will need to return for business and I will use this hotel.
This hotel is truely awesome
Everyone was so nice. They spoke English but were happy to help me with my Spanish. A great stay there. Right across from the airport.
