District I - Várkerület
clean room, great location near the castle, normal buffet breakfast Not all rooms were renovated
Great View Expensive Internet fee
1. The view: I had the room with Danube River facing Parliament; 2. There is a back door that you can access (exit and enter) using your room key card. This leads you directly to the steps towards the Castle area. Near to the main Metro (Batthyany square), bus and tram lines. 3. The staff at the coffee house/ restaurant (lobby floor) are really friendly and make you feel at home. 4. Wi-Fi speed is good. There are plenty of socket Outlet points for laptop, tablet, phone, iPad, power banks .... And hair dryer! The design of the hotel is well thought-out. Well done! 1. Buffet Breakfast spread: would have expected more for a 4/5 star hotel. 2. The main road from (Batthyány Square) although is lighted up. But there are 'funny characters' and drunks lurking and appearing at darker corners and adjoining smaller streets at night. 3. The underground metro is also full of 'drunks' and homeless screaming and begging for money.
Friendly staff, nice location The exercise room is very small and the equipment is limited
The hotel was in a brilliant location, very central for sight seeing, lovely helpfull staff, and very clean. The only slight draw back was the sound from the trams.
helpful staff, the view of the room , closeness to historical part, sufficient breakfast. bath tab looked unclean with dirt full corners all around and had very dirty discusting curtains.
Service, parking and location. The post office near by, train station near by, super market near by, good restaurants are all over near by, not too far from all the attraction. Rooms are small. At least one water bottle should be supply once a day stay. If the hotel rating 4 star hotel then it should be.
The building from outside and lobby looked very nice, but the room was totally opposite. I have stayed in a different Mercure hotel in the past and I was very happy. This hotel however was a total disappointment. The room look like it has not been upgrade in 10-15 years. The carped in the room was extremely dirty, old and faded.
Friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast with fresh squeeze OJ. Good air conditioning and quiet rooms. Very poor water pressure.
Friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast with fresh squeeze OJ. Good air conditioning and quiet rooms. I thought the rooms were really small and finally the balcony, too small to add chairs, were not that important.
I drive through Budapest and stay overnight once or twice a year. Previously, it's always been either one of the Hiltons (I trust the brand) and I was happy enough with both. However, I wanted to try something new and, having read excellent reviews of Hotel Castle Garden, decided to give it a try. Well, not just I was not disappointed, but indeed the hotel exceeded my expectations. I found it to be even better than Hiltons, while it cost me less. I paid for a standard room, but was put in a room with a huge deck , which was a free bonus. Overall, it was exceptional value. My wife also beleives the hotel is very elegant. It's a pity we did not get a chance to try their restaurant for dinner, but breakfast there was very good. The only - minor! - inconvenience that comes to mind is how lighting is set up in the bathroom, which made a little difficult for me to shave. Not that there was not enough light by the mirror, just the light coming from behind my back was even stronger, thus creating shadows.
The location is spectacular if you want access to the castle. If you are good with the transit system then a bus stop is just around the corner. There is a little Android based phone that is a nice touch, but it needs some work to be a guide for the city. That said, it is a nice security touch for having a local phone and data for mapping. Android is not my thing so it was not as intuitive to me. The staff at the front desk were very nice and helpful. The carpets were dirty, the bedding was well worn and the towels were the same. Do not be confused by dirty in that you will not find garbage all around the place, it was very clean in that regard. The rooms are just very well worn and it is time to replace some of the materials. The shower has a glass wall that does not do well enough of a job to keep water from reaching the floor in quantity. It was also odd that there was no tissue paper. Some communications work could be improved on. We arrived for a two night stay and I had picked the hotel because it had a well rated restaurant attached. The first night we went for dinner there. On the second day we went out and had a long day of seeing the sights with the plan to chill there in the restaurant. When we arrived there was a notice that the restaurant was closed for a private function. We could have ordered room service, but the room is not conducive to eating and frankly did not feel clean enough. We should have been told when we checked in and then we could have gotten something before coming back to the hotel.
The rooms are comfortable and large. The no smoking policy makes it excellent to stay in. Breakfast is good. Staff are most helpful. There was nothing we did not like - this is why it is our second stay at The Buda Castle Fashion Hotel.
Overall, it was a very nice hotel, small but pleasant with spacious room. The room was very hot, especially the bathroom and we couldn't adjust the heat. The breacfast was poor for a 4star hotel.
good location, large and very clean room, all facilities, mini kitchen, staff friendly, good and diversified breakfast, the noise from the street, but we wanted a central location and in fact we slept excellently in the very comfortable matrimonial bed
The room was spacious and the beds were very comfortable. It could have been cleaner and the decor is a bit old-fashioned. The carpet had stains, there was some mold in the bathroom.
WIth nicely appointed, clean rooms, luxurious quietness thanks to apparently good sound-deadening, and an unbeatable location the Burg Hotel is an ideal place to stay on the Buda side. Staff is friendly and efficient, the price is very reasonable and it provides a peaceful environment in keeping with the Castle District in which it is. Really I find little to criticise in a hotel that I am frankly surprised isn't particularly well-known because there can be few hotels in a more strategic location offering better value for the money. As I indicate here it's particularly suitable for families given the accommodation type. It will be noted that if what you crave is nightlife and urban attractions it's not immediately in the centre of the action (which is almost entirely on the Pest side) but transport links are superb and make that a non-factor, really - and in any case this is offset by the fact that most of the major tourist sights are immediately to hand. Little to quibble over. WiFi wasn't the fastest possible - this could be a concern if you expect to do a lot of work at the hotel. Pillows are on the soft side for my taste but that's personal and wasn't a major issue in any case.
amazing location, tasty breakfast No elevator, but you know that in advance
The hotel staff were very helpful, efficient and friendly. The hotel is very conveniently located in a quiet area. Excellent value.
very pleasant hotel staff, good location, 10 min to the castle, 15 min to downtown no public rooms, small restaurant, small bathroom
