Everything I needed was there Wasn't in walking distance to downtown and a little pricey
Price location was not winter reservationist indicated it was
the bar & grill attached to it lack of communication between staff
I was tired and looking for a quiet rest. When I asked the woman at check-in for a quiet room so I could get some much needed sleep, she said she'd do her best, and she did. My room was quiet and I had 2 nights with good sleep.
Beds were comfortable. Extra pillows provided without having to ask. Sink outside bathroom is convenient. Room was not made up properly. Beds were not re-made, towels taken were not replaced. Biggest complaint is that the hallways were extremely smoky even though the room itself was fine. There must be a vent that is bringing in the smoke. All our friends had the same complaint. I hate all the little lights (smoke detector, air conditioner, clock, etc. etc.). I have the same complaint at every hotel! Hotel is adequate if somewhat dated.
5-minutes out of downtown, but totally worth it
The staff was friendly and helpful. The location was great and easy to get around victoria. The restaurant inside was quite cute with a good breakfast. Due to a staff shortage, our room was only cleaned one day. Also we had to move rooms due to a funky smell in the first one we were given.
Comfortable bed Management's inability to control noise (especially loud talking and door "slamming" associated with younger "partiers" in two adjacent rooms.
no clock, poor TV reception, no clock, poor TV reception,
The hotel is not downtown but close. About 5 minutes away by car. My room was clean, spacious, and well stocked with every thing you would want from a hotel room. It was a good price as well.
Nothing.. This is the worst hotel i ever been, its so dirty specialy the room, and its so noisy, theres some cracking sound next to the window its there all night! you can hear clearly talking other next door, the hotel says its non smoking but i can smell next door smoking weed! Dont waste your money there!
Enjoyed my stay very much good value for the price
Fun retro look, great coffee, excellent and plentiful staff. Restaurant was good but too expensive for a budget motel.
big tv, comfy bed, friendly staff, friendly, huge shower area, free coffee, colourful rooms, arrt the mirror was not clean.. didn't mind that but just to let you know if others mind that.
The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The hotel is extremely cute and unique, I travel for work and have never seen one such as this. It's funky and original. I will be staying here whenever I'm in Victoria!
Very helpful and friendly staff with a unique and funky vibe. Clean and comfy room at a good price. Easily accessible by bus from ferry terminal, UVic, downtown. I'd definitely stay here again. Fairly noisy due to location on busy street. There was also a lot of noise from nearby doors closing and upstairs guests walking around. But that was the only downside.
Cheerful decor and fun presentation. Friendly and helpful staff. Could hear snoring through the walls from adjacent rooms.
Very clean friendly place. The pool was warmand clean cool waterslide. The bed was great.
The "retro" motif was fun for adults to remember and kids to find out how it was in "the old days". Extra effort was made to make touring of Victoria easy and stays fun with the pool with water slide. For someone not used to city traffic noise, the busy road alongside could be fairly distracting.
Funky colors, excellent service, surprising rooms Two floor complex so be aware of a heavy suitcase
Loved the fun colors and decorations. Really small room.
There were many options available for recreation at the hotel, including pool/sauna/hottub, ping pong tables, video game, bored games, music stations, bike and long board rentals. There were shuttles as well and location was awesome. Good restaurant on location. Beds were comfy. Having to carry luggage up stairs.
Design, free bike rental, price, great collaboration with the restaurant, and the free pool Sound proof is weak (but tolatable)
I liked the fun vibe, friendly staff. Travelling in fall meant I didin't have to worry about no AC. Expen$ive restaurant on site, but plenty in walking distance. Pool could have been a little cleaner. Noisy at night with the road and the ice machine next to us.
Convience to rd. ways. Nice for wlking along Gorge. stairs not great when one has knee problems Rm was very smelly and rugs could have be vaccumed or cleaned better.
A good experience at an economy hotel. The room was clean and well kept, the bed was comfortable, and the shower worked well with a steady flow of hot water. The room also had good amenities for the price, with a fridge, coffee service, flat screen TV with lots of channels, and good wifi service. The desk clerk was friendly and helpful when checking in. The location is also convenient if you are traveling around the greater Victoria area rather than just downtown. The only negative was the late night conversations of people smoking on the walkway outside the rooms. The proprietor might want to put up a cabana on the second floor deck on the Gorge Road side and encourage smoking guests to use it after 11 at night.
We had a problem with the shower in our room and the staff weren't able to fix it right away so we were promptly moved to another room. When we asked one of the front desk staff what the forecast was, she told us we could look out the window as easily as she could. Fortunately she wasn't the only one on duty and the other person was more helpful.
All we needed was well provided: a complete kitchen with a small stove, a microwave and a good sized refrigerator; living room and bedroom; luggage rack; bedside tables and a clock; a TV , couch, extra tables; plenty of room. It's on an easy to find main road; we could park immediately in front of the room; quiet bedroom because it's on the back side of the motel. The bathroom and kitchen were very clean. There were plenty of towels. The room is dated, by I appreciated that the furniture is still functional, so why not use it? I thought the kitchen cupboard shelves should be painted and lined with shelf liner to be more hygenic. The carpets look old by their design and therefore I assume they are dirty.
Easy to find, good parking, friendly staff, a 35 min. walk to downtown, good price. The room was dated and dark, but clean.
The staff was very accommodating and the hotel was very clean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. We will be staying again for sure, and recommending it to our friends. The parking lots were full at night so finding a place to park was frustrating. This was due to cars taking up multiple spaces.
The customer service was exceptional! The manager of the hotel gave valuable information with regards to finding locations which might be of interest to us. Overall, the staff was very welcoming, and made for a pleasant stay in victoria!
Helpful manager at check in. Comfortable bed.
I am not for staying at Motel's but this one was great. I am not saying it is Four Season's but it is not the motel you commonly think of- Dark room, dirty bathroom. It was comparable to the Holiday Inn express we stayed the day after The lady on the front desk could do better with her gruffness. The gentleman was wonderful.
convient, clean, good value. better ventilation in room would be good
We arrived at around 11 pm and the man at the front dest was one of the friendliest, most helpfull people. He went out of his way to provive us with a map and tourist information. It was the best service I have ever come across. I will definately recommend this motel to anyone!
The room is clean and the shower is good too.
The hotel staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. I was very pleased with the level of service. There are bus stops nearby on some of the busiest routes (within a block on one route, and right in front of the hotel on another), and it is obviously easily accessible via taxi or car. Located near enough to downtown and the inner harbour to be convenient without being so close to as get all the late night noise on the weekends.
Clean and good location Dated decor
The beds, towels,.TV,Breakfast,Gym staff. It is my Inn of choice.
We appreciated the good breakfast. The room was very comfortable. We would liked to have been closer to more restaurants.
Great location, facility and staff. Was in Victoria for a weekend tournament. Comfort Inn made it enjoyable. No in room safe.
Near public transit, large shopping facilities, and close to friends' and relatives' houses, this hotel was the obvious choice for my stay in Victoria. The breakfast was typical of large chains like this, but fine. Rooms are more spacious than I had expected. It would be nice to have a high-quality restaurant on the premises.
The bed was very comfortable after a long day of exploring and the room was very clean The hotel was described as being a lot closer into town than what it was, so it was a taxi ride into town and not accessible on Foot.
Great location - close to downtown, attractions and amenities. Very nice inn - clean and well maintained. Staff is most courteous and professional. Inn is quiet and most welcoming. Continental breakfast is outstanding. Lots of choices (hot and cold) and food items very fresh. Would definitely stay here again.
Good location, staff was very helpful, room was clean and functional
It is clean and quiet and well run. Very accomodating to my wheelchair needs. This is the second time we have stayed here.
excellent customer services
The room was very spacious and nice. We were upgraded to King suite which was wonderful. Staff was very helpful.
Hotel was very nice for this price range. We had a std room with king bed that had luxury bedding and very fluffy pillows. Our friends' kids reported that the pool was very cold in the morning, as if they turn off the heat overnight and it was only stating to warm up. Staff were very nice. Dog friendly rooms, but very clean. The location is not close to many shops and restaurants, the only food or coffee around seemed to be 3 different Tim Hortons, a few blocks away. We drove yrou downtown which was a 10 minute drive.
There was wifi internet in every room, which was very pleasant. It took a long time before I was checked in. And the hotel key cards had difficulties opening the doors.
Staff was very very welcoming. Room was clean and tidy.
Staff were very friendly. Rooms were large and clean. I had booked a room with two double beds and a kitchen and when we arrived we were given a king bed with a kitchen. The staff were very accommodating and changed our room quickly to a room with two double beds but no kitchen which was alright as we didn't need the kitchen. The kitchen staff were also very friendly and very accommodating. It would have been nice if the hotel would offer a continental breakfast instead of having to pay for it. I also feel that since we had booked and paid for a double bed suite with kitchen and ended up with a standard room they should have refunded the difference but since we had prepaid they said they couldn't. I feel it was their mistake and not ours. We did like the room and were very comfortable.
The Hotel was very clean. It was quiet and the room was very comfortable. The value was great.
We were just in Victoria to visit my daughter, so we just needed a place to sleep. Not much time was spent there, but it was all we needed.
the staff were friendly the room could have had better lighting ie: better and more lamps
Nice to have an indoor pool and sauna if a bit outdated and dark. Staff was friendly and helpful. There is a bar/grill on the first floor but never tried it. Menu didn't look that appealing. Internet worked well. Room needed an update desperately. Was not too clean either. The double bed became a taco with 2 people in it and was not comfortable at all. The air conditioner was so loud it was super obnoxious, and the heater had a bunch of gunk in it. Really small TV too. Got a deal for $58 a night down from $137 but it wasn't even worth the $58. We stayed at the Econolodge up the road for 3 days prior for less money and the room was much nicer, larger, larger tv, cleaner, and included a continental breakfast. Skip this place and stay at the Econolodge.
Not far from downtown, the bed was comfortable and linens very clean. The curtains & comforter were newer. Th pool & dry-heat spa were clean. For the money, it was a decent place to stay. The HVAC fan in the hallway (end of the 3rd floor) was not working correctly. When everything else got quiet, the odd vibration was annoying.
The price of the hotel was not even close to the price advertised on line!
reasonably convenient and quiet room was very warm in spite of cool weather .. heat was not on and we had the window open most of the time
The hotel was very nice and served its purpose for a place to sleep and shower. The a/c unit was about 50 years old and useless but the hotel staff provided a fan. Cleaning staff need to work harder as I moved the TV to the dresser to see it better then the low stand it was on and the tv stand was flithy as has not been cleaned in yrs. The coffee maker wasn't clean either as it still had the last guest's filter in the maker rendering it useless to me.
Very conveniently located to everywhere we wanted to visit. It was difficult to exit onto the street to turn left which was a double solid line..
Rooms were spacious and adequate for our purpose Rooms initially hot and aircon noisy. A little tired and in need of makeover
large rooms, average cleanliness, easy parking, 2 miles from downtown Victoria, good breakfast restaurant somewhat old and dated, stained carpet
The location was in close driving proximity to downtown Victoria and restaurants. Also the pool was a hit for my young niece. Of course the price was good as well. The peeling wallpaper in the bathroom should be fixed. Also the breakfast offered could have a little more variety.
Location, friendly staff
Clean and comfortable room, natural ligth, polite staff, near downtown, buchart garden and butterfly garden.
Rooms clean. Too far out from Victoria for my liking & too industrial.
price priximity to downtown
Was greeted by a very personable woman. She had a great sense of humour and was very engaging with myself and other patrons. Found a couple of candy wrappers on the floor and tv could use an upgrade to at least be able to access a guide.
the parking was adequate and the noise at night was better then down town The fact that your site did not give me the best rate. Room was not well cleaned or dusted
Vicinity to the Downtown Core Noisy rooms
cleanliness of the rooms, location, the dinner show that was playing was awesome and the price was excellent for both the show and the room.
Fine price and plenty of parking Hated that there is a sports bar located on the 3rd floor of the hotel. They play live music all day which is VERY audible throughout many of the rooms and then do karaoke until 1am which was semi audible in our room which was very close to the bar.
the surrounding of the gorge and inner harbour
The hotel was fairly central to all the attractions we were interested in as well as nearby restaurants.
decent motel. had a kitchenette I booked a double queen bed room for 4 people but was told the price I got was only for 2 people. The lady charged us $15 extra per person. Not very accommodating.
The Hotel was very clean and tidy. Beyond expectations. We were greeted at the front desk, who was very friendly and welcoming. I would recommend this hotel to friends traveling to Victoria. Would book again if in the area.
Convenient location - 10 mins away from downtown Victoria. Well furnished rooms with fridge and microwave. We could hear our neighbours upstairs all throughout the night...
Very large and clean room .. It was nice and quiet and the room was really comfortable and spacious . Friendly guy checked me in . Close to the Mayfair mall . Had no AC but with windows opened it stayed cool and quiet . Internet worked but was a bit weak .
The staff were extremely helpful with our queations about Victoria I would have liked a hair dryer...a minor but something I use every day and unfortunately I didn't think to bring mine.I understand the premise of Travellers Inns as to be an economical place to stay....just a note from me to you
nothing place was skid row... never again
Location was good, rooms are decent Towels, no elevator
It's a well-kept facility, clean and well run. The AC was weak. The neighboring construction site was pretty noisy from about 7 am; this was irritating but is beyond the control of the Arbutus Inn staff.
