With many benefits available, you won’t regret renting a car while touring The Hamptons. The flexibility and convenience of exploring the hidden gems with a rental car are unbeatable. Although The Hamptons boasts great public transportation, including trains and buses, their fixed routes and travel schedules limit your freedom to experience this beautiful community. Furthermore, you are likely to get a car that caters to your needs from the many car rental providers in the area. Finally, rental cars guarantee comfort and privacy, which public transportation cannot offer.

Like the rest of the United States of America, you must stick to the right as you drive in The Hamptons. Keep an eye on the road signs, as making a left turn during certain hours on some major avenues is prohibited. Do not drive with a BAC of more than .08 percent, as the fine is punitive for violators. Give way to pedestrians, emergency vehicles with flashing lights, and school buses. Also, be extra careful when driving in undesignated areas, especially on rural roads where animals such as deer cross unexpectedly.

Car rental agencies in The Hamptons will only allow you to rent their car if you are 21 or older, and a surcharge policy is applied to all renters under 25.  Renters below 25 may not be able to access some vehicle classes, including convertibles, luxury vehicles, and full-size SUVs. Moreover, you must have a valid driver's license, which you must have had for at least a year before renting a car. You will need a credit card to make your payment when planning to rent a car in The Hamptons. Note that the name on your credit card must correspond to your ID.
