First, for the rate Hyatt charges , the connection fee on internet should have been free or very minimum like many other 4 or 5 star rated hotels WW. \n\nI have used the Hyatt HK several times , same problem. The connection fee is even higher. \n\nAll other services are excellent. \n\nPlease be aware of certain $100 US bill.... some were not cashable with Taiwan Hyatt. I was told Taiwan has counterfeit on certain code of $100 US bills. Traveller checks and credit cards are much better. Best place to exchange Taiwan money is at the airport.
Price was good compared to other hotels that close to 101, but still not worth it in my opinion. Staff were very nice. Self laundry. Thin walls, so thin you can hear the conversations of neighbors. And whenever any doorbell around you rings, it sounds like your own. The breakfast was also horrible, and although they have their own bar, it closes very early most nights.
The hotel is right across the street from Taipei 101 with metro station right in front of it; a traveller like me with a 5-year-old kid would appreciate the convenience it provides! I booked a room with my credit card (to secure my space) and the confirmation letter said the fee will be paid at the hotel upon my arrival, so when I checked in, I told them I'll pay cash for my stay; thus, I thought they wouldn't charge the fee on my credit card when I checked out and told them again that I'd pay cash for my stay; after I got home from my trip in Taipei, I checked my credit card account and saw a pending fee for the hotel stay; I called Sparkle hotel immediately and then I was told I'll have to wait for up to one month (since I'm using a foreign credit card) to wait for the bank to process the refund.... if I had known or was told that they have already charged the fee on the card when I was going to check out, then I wouldn't have had decided to pay with cash then and thus can avoid going through the time-consuming process of getting my money back later. I wish they'd inform the customers in advance if SPARKLE hotel has already charged the fee on the card upon check-in. The hotel is great in all ways, and I really enjoy my stay there with my kid. I guess I'll just have to ask the front desk about the payment upon my check-in in the future more carefully. I'll definitely choose to stay in this hotel again in the future!
