Pros: I enjoyed leaving.
Cons: Unwelcoming, rude staff, poor food, dirty rooms and hall ways are run down. No water pressure in bathrooms. Overall, save yourself a whole heap of money and book a premier inn.

3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The majority of the staff were super friendly and up beat.
Cons: The first room we stayed in had no towels in the bathroom, was dirty, cupboard was broken, no hot water, most of the plug sockets didn’t work. We were also in the furthest corner of a building behind another building with a room overlooking the main road. Did not look like the photos. Moved to a second room for our second night which was in the main building and much better. Still not even close to being worth the money. We were told we couldn’t eat at the restaurant until 9pm although we walked past on several occasion the restaurant was basically empty - never more than 5 tables sitting. The spa was fully booked all weekend.
6.0 Good
Pros: Interesting building, nice premises.
Cons: Breakfast was awful, and I suffered from a stomach upset following my stay.
7.0 Good
Pros: Location for Shrewsbury was excellent
Cons: Swimming pool areas in changing rooms were dirty, floors especially.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Food was great, good location, good facilities.
Cons: Cleanliness was below par the breakfast dishes were not clean as though they had been taken out of a dishwasher and not checked, and some surfaces in the bar area and our room were not clean. A small window in the room gave us no outlook as though you were in a cell.

Pros: Great place
Cons: All good

Pros: Loved the cosy atmosphere. The room was very big for the money. The location was very central. Parking was good. The best part of all was the restaurant!! Their food is amazing! Pros: We had to cut short our visit to one night as the crisis back home in London was worrying - The wonderful Selina (Cuss) arranged for us to be credited with a free night's stay for when we returned for a later visit - hopefully in September

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was great value for money. Three course meal and drinks for 2 was only £60. The hotel was much nicer than I expected and I would definitely stay there again. Staff were very friendly and polite
Cons: My pillow
4.8 Okay
Pros: Reception sraff were very helpful and organised a ground floor room as Mum hurt her leg that day.
Cons: The hotel is being refurbished so the restaurant is closed and there is no 24 x 7 room service as stated. We arrived late due to busy day do were relying on room service. Wd made it with 5 mins to go. The brekkie was in the golf clubhouse. The window would not open as painted shut. The room itself was ok but view was of a building site. V expensive for lack of facilities.
5.4 Okay
Pros: The staff are friendly, the food can be delicious and the beds are comfortable
Cons: Friendly, but not always helpful. The staff lack initiative when things go wrong, dead flies on the window ledges, handprints on the doors, food encrusted on some utensils. It is not their fault that there was a power cut just before the party(that we had travelled the day before to attend)was supposed to start. But thy might have done more than explain that the kitchen was all electric. Like offer us a drink and then try to find a hostelry outside the power outage. A decent manager would have at least appeared, apologised, and offered a refund - before we made a fuss!
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Location worked well for the Hawkstone Park MX event.
Cons: Very poor experience, looks the part but clearly can't offer the service to match it's price point. £150 for a twin with breakfast! Room was poor and cold, very small and dark and outside on the court yard. Service at check in was poor, covered the basis barely. Sat for dinner at 19.30, finally got our deserts at 21.50! It was a busy weekend but room wasn't packed and they should have been able to cope. Apologies from the one waitress who was clearly facing up to the issues but no one else was bothered. A beer is £6 at the bar but then £5 on the restaurant menu? Yet they charge you the £6! The younger male staff serving are a waste of time by the look of it, I'd invest in some staff training to save wasting money on their wages. Room barely warm enough overnight. Breakfast good, but again hap hazard service.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff were friendly Food was good Comfortable
Cons: Grey interior! No atmosphere
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very chatty and friendly. Will be visiting again

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great welcome for us and our dog. We upgraded but the room was a bit small and all surfaces seemed to be covered with literature. My only complaint was no gluten free bread for breakfast when they had so much warning including when we arrived. But the staff in the sister restaurant The Loopy Shrew were lovely and welcoming to us including our dog.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed here during the beginning of the Coronavirus outbreak to which it was obviously all a bit weird and odd but from our experience we very much enjoyed our stay and will be back post Coronavirus to enjoy it even more so.

Pros: The Breakfast was excellent. There was an honesty bar which we thought was a really good idea, we didn't need it as so close to lots of facilities but there if you needed.
Cons: It was all good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very welcoming and genuine (which is a rarity). The attention to detail was prominent and the honesty bar was meant we could stay up and enjoy a game of chess, with only a few steps to travel to bed. Just wonderful.

Pros: Location
Cons: Cramped
5.7 Okay
Pros: Very central setting. Welcoming owners.
Cons: Parking is an issue in the mornings
4.0 Okay
Pros: The bathroom tiles and the wifi
Cons: I found the brekfast staff unpleasant. It seemed as if he didn't want to be there - he keep banging the plates and cups about - in fact another breakfaster commented upon this. He was quite grumpy. Maybe he should look for a new job. The cleaning lady and the young girl were much nicer.
5.3 Okay
Pros: Good location, close to shops, restaurants and attractions but on a quiet(ish) road; easy to come and go when we wanted and a car park nearby.
Cons: Service a bit uninspired; certainly not the friendliest hotel we have stayed in. Decor a bit tired and old fashioned.
5.7 Okay
Pros: I only stayed one night, but my overall impression was of an efficiently run hotel.
Cons: There was nothing I disliked.
7.0 Good
Pros: Queit cozy place but within few minutes of town square. Family-run informality, excellent breakfast.
Cons: The breakfast window of 8-9 on a Sunday was too early, too short. The room cleaners also worked only till 11 on Sunday which was surprising.
6.0 Good
Pros: Comfortable bed. Lots of clean white towels. Interesting old building. Handy for river.
Cons: Noisy (near building site and pubs). Instant coffee with breakfast. Lots of stairs to climb with suitcase. Overpowering "air fresheners". No thermostat on radiator. Owner not particularly friendly.

4.2 Okay
Pros: The only thing that was good was how close it was to our venue for a 50th party
Cons: It’s very dated, smells old and whilst not dusty to wipe it felt like the carpets were dusty and grimy, there was no theme to the decor it was a mismatch of colours paper carpet flooring. Our room was fluorescent pink, not restful, the bathroom was like it had been taken from a caravan. As for breakfast can fault quantity but smelt of dirty fat, I tried but couldn’t eat not great quality. Whilst it wasn’t expensive for the whole experience it should have been cheaper.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast and great staff

Pros: Location brilliant for what we were doing for 3 days.
Cons: Very very dated although we were upgraded to a suite it was very dark & quite depressing, carpet in bathroom a bit grim not very well laid out for a suite wasn’t very comfortable at all. Did sleep really well though a nice quiet room which I asked for.
6.0 Good
Pros: The staff were helpful and courteous.
Cons: Very disappointed with the room. Small and shabby, toilet didn’t flush properly. After viewing such lovely rooms on line we were looking forward to our stay. We feel £115 is a lot of money for such a room.

Pros: Tranquillity. Prince Rupert is very well located for shops, entertainment (Old Market Hall) and even only a ten minute schlep to rail station. Very friendly and obliging staff.
Cons: No complaints except a no mark stole my newspaper! How low! However, I did not have to pay for it. Not the standard of customer that this place should have.

Pros: Charlie and her team are the friendliest, professional and caring team I have had the pleasure to meet in a hotel. Charlie in particular was amazing from our first point of contact. Nothing was too much and she made us feel so welcome and at home. She was there every waking moment of our stay. I would definitely recommend staying here if you want a beautiful, super clean and friendly service hotel to stay. Big thumbs up from us. The evening meal and breakfast was lovely. Even left a personal birthday card and gift for my husband who was celebrating his birthday in our beautiful room. If I could give 20 stars I would. Thanks so much Charlie and her lovely team.
Cons: There was nothing not to like.

Pros: Usual benefits - central location - that helped when I arrived at 2.00 but was able to take lunch at an adjacent restaurant. Good early breakfast with wide choice of preceding cereal and fruit followed by tasty smoked haddock.
Cons: I am sorry to say that the room could have been cleaner. As a benighted male, I might not have noticed but I had occasion to kneel on the carpeted floor to retrieve something. On rising to my feet I saw that my trousers were covered in dust!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was excellent as was the food in the restaurant in the evening. The staff were without exception friendly and welcoming. This was very much appreciated at the time of the Covid-19 pandemic when everyone is so anxious. We wish them all well. We will be back when this madness is over.
Cons: We could have done with a grab rail in the shower as it was a bit slippy.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed was amazingly comfortable, and the room was spacious. There was a tea/coffee station, and some more practical items in the wardrobe (hairdryer, ironing board and iron, a fan, more towels and some coathangers). Overall the room was well thought out space-wise :)
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable atmosphere, lovely manager, although there were no locals in the pub due to the virus it was still a fun place to be and we felt very at home. 30 second walk from the train station and situated 2minutes from the town it was a lovely place to be:) had our own key to the building so could come and go as we please which would be Brill for late nights out if there were places open
Cons: Only issues we had was with the bathroom; the hot water took at least 5minutes to come through (possibly as we were at the top of the building in which case fair enough) The shower didnt drain quickly enough, by the time the water had heated up the bottom of the shower was full and did overflow at one point so we couldnt enjoy showering. Also a random hole in the floor where it looked as though someone had stepped into a less supported part of the flooring? It was a hazard as it was right by the door and we did almost trip a couple times.

Pros: Loved the staff - I stayed as essential worker during corona crisis and couldn't get home. Made to feel very welcome and was thankful for the friendly experience.
6.0 Good
Pros: The lion is a nice hotel - just needs an update - tv was way too small for the room , the beds were cheap and not very comfortable - loo roll holder located in wrong place so you hit with arm when sitting on toilet The full English was rather small - fried bread was two triangles 3 inch x 2 x2 The staff were great -
Cons: The staff were great !!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: Dog in another room
1.0 Poor
Pros: Nothing
Cons: In light of difficult circumstances, this review may be harsh but I believe that how businesses act right now is showing their true colours. I booked the hotel for family to visit for my sons 18th. I tried for several weeks to get a reply from the hotel as to whether they would be open (no info on website) once the government ordered closures of bars and restaurants. The phone just rang out and all emails were ignored. My family has a very long way to travel and could not take the chance that the hotel would be closed so they did not come. I have asked if we could have a credit for the room so that they can visit my son when things are a little calmer. I have not had a reply. A friend tells me that they are staying open and my family could have come after all! It is a shame as my sons birthday is already a massive disappointment due to the cancellation but spending time with his family would have been the more precious than any party!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: this hotel is a 3 star due to certain things needed that they don't have, but in many ways it warrants a 4 star, the staff were all lovely and welcoming. I particularly liked Aggie and Tom, I would certainly recommend this hotel and stay there again,
Cons: I was pestered by a guest who moaned about everything but that is life, and one gentleman had a terrible cough and it was frightening given that the corona virus was here, what I would say is that the gentleman with the cough should of had his breakfast in his room, as he was not aware of the panic he was causing, even though his cough sounded like a smokers and that of damaged lungs,
6.8 Good
Pros: Staff were nice and rooms were a good size
Cons: But their decor was dated and our room was at the front of the hotel which was on a busy main road
7.0 Good
Pros: Rich in history. Barman (with Alex tatoo) very efficient & friendly. Receptionist (lady with foreign accent) helpful. Bar meal very tasty & good value. Liked the breakfast. Able to park on site.
Cons: Many narrow stairs would be difficult for some older people. Lift was not obvious & wouldn't serve all rooms.
6.7 Good
Pros: Good location and helpful staff. £5 for parking is very good for Shrewsbury.
Cons: Room was cold. Had to ask for a heater. Heating came on at 9:45 at night. The water was Luke warm making the bath useless. Showered instead and it should have been much better. Room 209. At 6am the kitchen extractor comes on and keeps you awake.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Breakfast good, room furnishings tired but passable. A great location with secure parking.
