Overview

Fifty metres from Foncillon beach, the Best Western Hotel Royan Ocean, Royan, France, sits a five-minute walk from the centre, opposite the conference hall and the quay where the ferries cross to Le Verdon, most of its rooms turned to the ocean for a fine view through the stay. Rooms on the higher floors open onto a panorama of the bay, and the seafront setting puts the beach, the centre, and the estuary crossings within an easy walk. The shoreline keeps the surroundings open and bright. Royan was rebuilt after the war as a showcase of breezy 1950s seaside architecture, its great curved concrete church rising over a sweep of sandy coves on the mouth of the Gironde, with the lighthouse of Cordouan out in the estuary, the oyster ports of the coast, and the pine forests of the Cote de Beaute close by. From the front, the wide bay opens toward the Atlantic light.

Summary of reviews

Guests say
Guests consistently praise the hotel's excellent location near the beach and city center, as well as the friendly and professional service from the staff. The breakfast is frequently described as varied and enjoyable. However, many guests are disappointed by the small room sizes and the lack of private parking, especially during peak season when public parking is hard to find. Despite these drawbacks, the overall experience is positive, with cleanliness and comfort also mentioned favorably.
