Pros: For our first trip to Portland, this hotel had a prime location for when we did our tours across town. Given the area, it never took much time to get to and from, and to keep busy with all the opportunities available.
Cons: While the hotel staff were friendly, and our room and other amenities were fine, we did get placed in a room next to major construction going on in the rooms next door. Buzz saws at 9:00 in the morning is not something I find appealing about my hotel stay. We stayed for three nights, two mornings. The first morning, I was up early and did not make a fuss. The second morning, the noise was too much to bare. I called the front desk and was offered a room change, but since we were leaving very early the next day, the inconvenience outweighed the option. I understand hotels go through modifications, but my preference would have been for the staff to have enough foresight and not placed anyone in the hall, let alone the room right next to major construction.

Pros: The staff was extremely helpful, and very accommodating. We got upgraded to a larger bed, and was also offered help for dinner options and entertainment every night. They even have a small kitchenette, if your trying to save a little money on food.

Pros: Its been awhile since I have stayed at Marc Spencer but the renovations are amazing. My roomwas on the first floor that used to be mini suites a long time ago. I was lucky to have a room with a view of the stage for this year's pride block part . Was a blast! I'll definetly be coming back!
Cons: The only thing wrong was I wish I could've stayed more than one night :-(

Pros: The hotel is clean, convenient and quiet. I stayed here probably 15 or 20 years ago and it has been substantially cleaned up, renovated, and remodeled. The staff is very helpful and the breakfast buffet and other food serving is great. It's a great value for a great hotel at a great location. Highly recommended.
Cons: They are doing a little construction now (February 2014) so if you need to sleep during the day, you might want to pick another hotel.

Pros: We loved everything. The bed was very comfortable. The room was beautiful and spacious and modern. The shower was amazing. It was huge and had 3 different shower heads. All of the staff was super friendly an amazing. The girl working the front desk upgraded us to a suite. without any charge just because we had mentioned it was date night when she asked us what brought us to Portland. The room we stayed in had floor-to-ceiling Windows which was so pretty at night. We have robes too. as a woman the other thing I loved was our shower head shampoo conditioner and body wash pumps on the wall. I normally bring my own shampoo and conditioner when I travel because in those little tiny bottles there's never enough product. So being able to use as much conditioner as I needed was a definite plus. We also had dessert at the restaurant which was super delicious. It was a gorgeous evening in the rooftop bar is lovely. Overall it was a wonderful experience and we will definitely be back.

Pros: The on-site food options were incredible. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The entire place was very clean. It was walking distance to public transportation and a short trip away from the downtown scene.
Cons: The only thing I would say is that you should try to get a room that doesn't face the road where Denny's is...the trolley/tramcar thing runs all night and is loud.

Pros: We loved the quality of our king size mattress and how the housekeeping team did an exceptional job tending to our room. We also loved that we were able to text the hotel 24/7 to ask about places to eat, sightseeing, and other recommendations anytime, anywhere! It's really in a wonderfully located spot that is quiet, calm, and relaxing. What a wonderful staff!
Cons: We wish there was a pool on site, but besides that, we couldn't complain!

Pros: Total redo of an older hotel. Very modern. Love having the coffee shop downstairs to grab breakfast at in the am and the hotel restaurant upstairs in fantastic. Great location with easy access to the MAX train lines.
Cons: No issues. The parking at $25/day is high.

Cons: The entire facility needs upgrading. As I walked into the lobby and down the halls it was shabby. The rooms however, were better than the common areas.

Pros: The facility was very nice and the room was comfortable.
Cons: Upfront, transparent pricing! When I read what the rate was and then the caveat “plus applicable taxes and fees,” there was no indication of what the amount would be or how it was calculated. I was completely astonished when “the fees were $42.00. The room ended up costing more than other rooms I could’ve reserved if I had known a more accurate online price.

Pros: The bed was about the only good thing about the Red Lion. The location near the Moda Center is nice too!
Cons: Loudest hotel ever!! Paper thin walls and a room by the elevator = Not a lot of sleep. $14 parking is ridiculous! Especially after paying for the overpriced room... The cleaning crew started cleaning rooms at 9am. So much for respecting their guest.. We've stayed at a handful of Red Lion hotels and this one is by far the WORST!! Save yourself some money and aggravation and book the Quality Inn across the street!

Pros: This was a complete random choice thru hotel tonight app but I could not leave once I saw the lobby : the citizens bakery and then the amazing room : I ended up extending my stay thru 9 more days! Great happy staff and excellent realistic affordable room rates made me continue to call this home / I'm happy there and I consider it my new Portland home when I'm in town
Cons: Everything was awesome. Great gob everyone!

Pros: We liked the large room with kitchen and "living room" space. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Best part: no car needed. (They have a shuttle but we didn't need to use it.) Commuter train stops right outside so we could easily get to/from airport and all areas of Portland we wanted to see. Quiet, clean.

Pros: I loved that all the rooms are suites with a kitchen and fold out couch bed. This is a perfect room for an extended stay. Also loved the location at Cascade Station. It has all the amenities, shopping, food, you need with a MAX train stop right outside the hotel if u feel like going into downtown Portland. Only con is that the mattress was a bit firm and uncomfortable, but to each there own. We WILL be staying there again.
Nestled in a peaceful, riverfront area adjacent to a lovely park, you’d never guess the four-diamond Kimpton RiverPlace Hotel is just a short stroll from the dynamic culture of downtown Portland. The Arts and Crafts inspired lobby features a stacked stone fireplace that you just have to drink hot cocoa beside. The hotel offers free use of bikes and in room yoga kits as well as seasonal outdoor sessions led by our very own on-site yogi. We’re also close to a variety of fun outdoor activities and concierges will happily point you toward nearby hiking, kayaking and fishing. Sweet.

Pros: Very comfortable bed and staff was quite friendly. Great lobby and building with a ton of character, historic architecture, marble, and classic woodwork. (If you want a sleek, modern, generic place that looks the same as a hotel in any other city, this is not the hotel for you.)
Cons: My room (1212) was quite small, especially the bathroom. Because I wanted a single large bed and the hotel was pretty full, I think maybe I had that oddball room that most older hotels have that are squeezed into a non-regular space. In this case, it also happened to be near housekeeping, which was noisy in the morning with carts being banged around. The room was fine but smaller than one might expect. The bathroom was ok for me but would have been an issue for someone who spends more time getting ready. There was not even enough room to stand squarely in front of the tiny sink because a bookcase/shelving unit was put on the wall right in the area in front of sink. I had to shave at an odd angle, off to the side of the sink.

Cons: Parking was not explained very well, and expensive. The valets ignored us for over 10 min before we drove off and parked in the garage that was less than a block away. Turned out to be the same garage the valet uses, and has a tunnel connected to the hotel. Room was dark due to only having one small window in the corner.

Pros: This hotel maintains it older charm and the rooms have a more modern vibe. The beds were super comfortable and I actually slept well. Lots of USB charging ports built in and plenty of electrical outlets. Is a good overall stay for a vacation weekend or business trip.

3.7
Pros: It was old fashioned in a Tower of Terror kind of old school glam way
Cons: It felt like the Tower of Terror, staff was rude when checking us in, room felt gross and was ridiculously small and crammed in a corner. The lady at the front desk quoted us an insanely high price, and when I said cheaper was available online she said “well I guess you should book that then.” When to check in 5 minutes later and felt like she deliberately gave us the worst room furthest from the elevator on the lowest floor. They were also under construction which I didn’t realize till I was in the room and there was a piece of paper informing me. Amenities were a joke. Regret booking this place when there were a dozen better options in the same area.

9.7
Pros: Comfortable, firm mattress. Great, friendly staff! Very accommodating.
Cons: The bathroom sink was annoying. The faucet was barely inside the bowl, which made a mess when using the sink. So it was difficult to use the sink as counter space, which was lacking. No other complaints. Everything else was great.

Pros: Great location. Bar was awesome! Have a "bee's knees"!
Cons: Because I used the door knocker that said I didn't need sheets and towels changed, no one ever came to my room to take the garbage or give us more TP, etc. thankfully there was an extra roll in the room. And one of the valet guys was rude to my uber driver when she came to pick us up. It was uncalled for.

Pros: Absolutely the best location. Easy to travel to any part of portland, 5 minute walk from Powell's City of Books. Really nice staff, really nice valet, decent gym, decent facilities. Room is clean and cozy. Not a great view but it doesn't really matter since you can access the parts of the city with a great view within 10-15 minutes.
Cons: Valet is a bit pricey. No view from our window, but it didn't bother me much.

Cons: Wish we would have known they were doing construction on the lobby. It was noisy so they should have given us something extra for the trouble

Pros: The staff gives you a lot of their time, professional and helpful, and most are friendly. The room was beautifully appointed, very comfortable for one person, and I was happily upgraded to a street view of the Starlight Parade.
Cons: Unfortunately the ground floor was undergoing renovations, which had I known I would have booked elsewhere.

Pros: They upgraded my room when my original room wasn't ready on check in, and they sent a complimentary bottle of champagne to my room because it was my 21st birthday!

Pros: The location is great. You're close to plenty of great restaurants, museums and late night spots. The staff is very friendly and professional. The rooms are comfortable and include nice touches like USB ports on the lamps and recycling bins. And you get free beer every night.
Cons: The rooms are a bit small, so you might want to upgrade to the larger rooms when you book. No closet space.

Pros: There was nothing the staff wouldn’t do to assist and make my stay better. They were all so friendly & efficient. The room was really comfortable and well appointed. Loved the music playing when I walked in the room. The Imperial Restaurant had seriously fantastic food. The hotel’s location was great. They gave me an unrequested upgrade. Did I say how incredible the staff were? So wonderful!
Cons: That I had to leave.

8.2
Pros: centerally located with a daily beer hour where you can grab free beer
Cons: Rooms are some of the smallest that I've stayed at with very thin walls. Expect to hear your neighbors using the bathroom...
"Located in Downtown Portland, this hotel is within a 5-minute walk of Riverplace, Keller Auditorium and Tom McCall Waterfront Park. Portland Art Museum and Pioneer Courthouse Square are also within 15 minutes. City Hall-SW 5th and Jefferson Street Station is 6 minutes by foot and Yamhill District Station is 7 minutes. "

Pros: The location is great, add parking is free!.
Cons: The rooms were too hot as they only have central air, and they can only have either heat or air conditioning on at any given time. My room faced the highway and the train tracks, so it was quite loud. They did however provide earplugs. But because my room is so hot, I had to sleep with the windows open, and unfortunately both of the screens on my windows were so severely torn they were worthless. I informed the staff about the screens and the next day they were still torn when I returned. I called the manager and he immediately came up and fix the screens for me and offered me an upgrade to a suite. So overall not that bad!

Pros: Hotel Rose is what it is: a recently renovated motel. It's clean and comfortable, and staff are friendly. But to call it a four-star hotel is a real stretch, in terms of amenities and service. Compared to other downtown luxury hotels, this is a big step down at the same price.
Cons: The bathroom is tiny, with outdated fixtures and mold stains. The provided toiletries are cheesy Tommy Bahama brand with an intense pina colada scent that I was a bit embarrassed to smell like all day. The bed only comes with a comforter, strangely folded on top of a bare fitted sheet, so you have to make your own bed. The king bed comes with two of these, each covering half the bed. Just weird. When I asked the front desk for room service to give me a top sheet, I was told I could find one in the closet and to make the bed myself.

Pros: My husband and i planned a weekend away just the two of us, kids free in Portland for the Washougal nationals. We stayed at another motel the night prior, and had the most horrible experience ever. The wonderful girl at the front desk was so helpful and wonderful. They treated us so nicely. The room was fantastic. We were able to get a king room suite that day. After we checked in at about 10:30, we got right up to our room and went right back down to the wonderful hot tub and pool. The room was clean and wonderfully put together. The hotel is beautiful.

Pros: It was clean, the employees were fine..price was ok as well, I would say if you are ok with a mediocrity just cleanliness and a good price this is the place.. That's about it.. Otherwise if you want to feel like you are on vacation with a nice new comfy place then spend the extra 20-40 bucks a night and go with a more newer hotel.
Cons: Dated hotel, it felt like a half @$$ remodel.. Bed and TV were up to date but tgat was it.. The wall paper, doors and bathroom were very dated; there were tears in wallpaper, all the doors were chipped up and there was a bit of mold around the tub chalking, also at the base of the tub the drywall was completely rotted, the room was just a bit dark and dingy for my taste..

Pros: Excellent customer service and amenities. The room was large, well organized and clean. This is the best hotel around for the price!

Airport shuttle worked fine
Cons: Nothing with the hotel The airport shuttle did not have a sign in front, so I had to guess a little, very minor quible

9.4
Pros: It's a bit off the beaten path in terms of staying in Downtown Portland, but they run a free shuttle to the Max which makes getting into the city easy ($2.50) even if you don't want to drive the 15 minutes (although it takes a bit longer than 15 minutes). Perfect place to stay at a great price if you want to experience Portland without forking over $250/night for a hotel.
Cons: Nothing.

Cons: I didn't like a 230am fire alarm that was tripped. I didn't like the fact Kayak did not express the 24.00 a night parking and valet. Pros: Lobby was nice, service was great. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Cons: The rooms are very outdated - the 4th and 5th floors were being renovated during our stay and there were very loud banging noises until 7 pm! Pros: There is no pool at this hotel. It's a good hotel but I certainly wouldn't categorize it as a 5 star. You'd expect better room equipments and facilities. Pros: Location was perfect, being close to everything. I could walk almost everywhere and taking the light rail was easy. The 2 bedroom suite was spacious and clean, with large windows letting light in. The included breakfast was nice and had a lot of choice, compared to other hotels I've been to. It included the common toast and cereals, but also had a hot breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausages, potatoes and moreover there was a make your own omelette stand with a chef preparing what you ordered in front of you.
Cons: Elevators are small and having a stroller made it more difficult to get to our room. The Kitchenette is not really a kitchenette, just a little counter space with a small sink, a coffee maker with not enough coffee for more than 2 people, a small fridge and an outdated microwave. I woke up in the middle of the night clearly hearing the conversation of the next door neighbour, so not soundproof.

Pros: Fantastic location in the heart of old town Portland. Two blocks from fantastic public transit system, excellent waterfront park/greenway and the Saturday Market. Hotel has a large and impressive, art-deco (or earlier?) style lobby... and the rooms are furnished in a similar style. Think 1920's.
Cons: For a 'suite' hotel, the kitchenette amenities were lacking. There is a mini-fridge, microwave and two-cup coffee maker... which are all great, except there are no dishes, no cups (just paper cups for coffee), no utensils and no toaster. Plates and utensils were brought up to the room upon request, but after deliberately seeking out a 'suite' style hotel with a kitchenette (they are hard to find in Portland), this was disappointing. Also, we were given a room around the corner and behind the elevators. I'd read in other reviews that this could be noisy, so I was a little concerned upon check-in. Ultimately, this didn't bother me too much as I'm from a busy city and used to sleeping with some noise - but be forewarned that if you get one of these rooms anywhere near the elevators, they are noisy and almost sound like a subway car passing along the tracks. Not jarring or rattling sounds, but still a hard-to-miss rolling, whooshing sound every time an elevator car goes up or down past your floor.

Pros: Room was great, after changing rooms. Initial room not as described and had to show desk clerk reservation copy from email on phone. Res promised room with a view on top floor. Given previous floor level with view of parking garage. Said were given last available room with view. Had a great view of the city looking towards the river. Breakfast was great! Although the "cooked to order" ad description should of said "buffet" with optional "made to order" omelette. I did, and it was good.
Cons: Having to use Valet parking. Rather a forced choice, because of logistics, then end up in public parking area anyway. Location was horrible. Maybe for some tastes is ok. Rough inner city, area. Not a place for going for walks or taking a young family. Sorry, we love Embassy Suites, but won't return to this one. Again, hotel inside was great. The surroundings not so much.

Pros: Location was great. Parking Garage right across the street. The staff is the best in all departments. Room Service is outstanding and the Food delivered perfect.
Cons: The beds were too hard and I woke up with a back ache both mornings. There is only one door between adjoining rooms and you can hear every thing that is said. Which also made us whisper. High school choir were in town and ran up and down hall way knocking on doors . Possibly they could place kids on one floor or wing as not to disturb your other customers.

Pros: Clean and comfortable, got upgraded to a nice suite. Building architecture was beautiful.
Cons: Parking in the garage was convenient, but we weren't told upon leaving that we still needed our room key to get out. We had to back up and run back into the hotel get abd get a key to leave. Not a huge deal, just wish they would have told us upon checking out.

Pros: Breakfast and cocktail hour was great addition to the hotel and added value to the stay for price. Wish guest treated staff better by tipping for being served and cleaning tables was surprised that we were the only ones I could see that tipped everyone for what they did. I was ashamed that people don't appriciate nice friendly staff that are willing to help.
Cons: Pool was a little colder then I was expecting for everyone wish it was a little warmer. Elevator were so long wait but I guess that what you get when it a historic hotel.

Pros: I loved the front desk staff and the valet staff. Upon checking in, the front desk staff was extremely helpful with tips on activities in the area and food and restaurant choices. They didn't sound rehearsed with their suggestions. They really seemed enthusiastic about their choices which made us enthusiastic about trying them out. The valet staff was extremely friendly and helpful as well. We left some items in our car that they had parked for us and they offered to retrieve them for us while we waited in the lobby. They greeted us every time we walked in and out the door and just seemed happy to be working there and not just working for tips. The customer service was greatly appreciated!
Cons: The main negative comment I have is that their elevator is rickety and loud. I guess because we checked in at night, we got stuck with the room next to the elevator and you really can hear it every time it goes up and down. Luckily, we were just so exhausted from our daytime activities, we didn't have the energy to complain. Also, the housekeeping staff was a little intimidating. At around 4pm, we went back to our hotel room to freshen up and noticed that our room had still not been made. No big deal. We saw the housekeeping staff in the hallway and decided to tell them they can skip our room, but we wanted an extra towel and a new garbage bag. When we asked them, the staff member demanded my hotel room number in a harsh tone and when I told her, she then shouted to her co worker in another language some verbiage while pointing at us. They had a conversation, that sounded like an argument to me, for a few minutes while we were standing there waiting for the OK to skip our room and give us a towel. Mind you, they were standing right next to the towel cart conversing in their language while I was standing there confused.

Pros: We've been coming to Modera over the last five years, and not much has changed in that time. It's still a nice, modern hotel, but it's certainly not as hip as it once was. That goes for downtown portland in general, however. The front lobby staff is excellent as are the housekeeping staff. They seem to understand the hospitality services industry an do everything they can to make you comfortable.
Cons: Hotel Modera continues to only offer valet parking. That's good because there is very little street parking; however, it's not good when the service is overpriced and the valets don't help with getting luggage in/out of the car. In fact, there's no offering to help in any way other than to hand you the valet ticket/keys. The lobby doors are not automatic, so while the valets stand around, you are convenienced to put down your bags, open the door, prop it open with your foot while you grab your bags and make a dash through. We haven't had this problem in the past, but the HVAC in our room was not heating, just blowing cool air. Turning the unit off resulted in the windows whistling due to the negative pressure in the room. The mini fridge stocked with overpriced drinks was also not working. So our room was cold and noisy, and the fridge was warm and quiet. The front desk staff offered to send someone up right away, but since my wife was still asleep and we were checking out in several hours, I declined, but the staff was very sympathetic. The bathroom in our king room was VERY close to the bed, and the sliding door didn't make it much of a 'privy'. I try to keep up with the latest building materials, so maybe the plastic tub liner that shifts up and down under your feet while taking a shower is new and fancy. I don't think we'll be installing one in our home. The hotel's bar/restaurant is unremarkable in all ways and does not stand up to the other great food and drink options in downtown or the east side. Overall, I think we are done with this hotel considering there are so many other options in the area that are better walking distance to good food and drinks.

Pros: Always enjoy the staff, the contemporary atmosphere, the location, and the garden with fire pits. This is my favorite place to stay in Portland for a reasonable price (the nines is great but expensive, and the loft is great but more for an airport stay). The valet parking was pretty good and free for my Prius (they had a special for "green" cars) and really helped to steal my stay (the nines did not offer anything like that).
Cons: If there was anythInfo@VertebrataChiropractic.com I had a problem with, it was that once waited for 15 minutes for my car and when I asked about it, the valet had forgotten about it. He immediately remedied the situation and had the car in 90 seconds, but it would have been nice to have gotten it when it was first asked for. A small oversight, and overall does not take from my five star rating for this property.

Pros: I checked into Hotel Moderna after a very long day of traveling and checking out of another hotel because if wasn't clean or at all what I was looking for. The guy behind the front desk, after hearing of my travel troubles, offered me free drinks in the hotel restaurant to make my day better. He also gave me a map of the city and marked his favorite places to hang out in sharpie. The front desk staff went above and beyond to accommodate me, which is exactly what I needed after the day I had.

Pros: It's a great hotel. It's very conveniently located in downtown Portland, and although you have to go a few blocks to find other restaurants, the one in the building, Nel Centro, is outstanding. Staff is friendly and the hotel is clean, well decorated, and hip. Not really a great place for kids unless you're up for taking them out to one of Portland's many parks -- the hotel is too mod for them to play there.
Cons: Only complaint about Modera is that it's at the mega-junction of Portland's light rail, trolley and bus lines, so during the daytime (including VERY early in the morning) the street noise is pretty significant. The rooms are well insulated, so it's not deafening, but you can definitely hear it.

Pros: The convenience to the airport is one of the key features I was looking for. That was great. It’s also nice to stay in a place that gives you something a little unique compared to your usual hotel room layout. The lobby is also attractive.
Cons: I was not greeted warmly-the desk clerk was not interested in my experience. Not rude or unprofessional, just millennial disconnectedness. Not his fault, really. At this price point there should be a complimentary breakfast offered. Lastly, the shuttle driver sailed into the parking lot as we were getting out of our car going way too fast. That was also true the next morning as we were shuttled to the airport we felt slung around the back of that van. Prompt is one thing but why in such a reckless feeling hurry?

Pros: It was so close to PDX, almost too close, but the planes/flight patterns didn't affect me at all. A couple times you had a single or twin engine overhead, but nothing major. So many choices to eat, and shop, right across the street. Even a crip like me could walk across the street to eat. So many choices! I even hobbled down more to Ikea, a bit farther away, but doable for any "normal" person. A really great surprise. Room was well-equiped. All the right stuff. I loved the media box by the TV. Plugged my laptop into the HDMI port, and it picked it up on big 50"? TV no problem! I really liked the alarm clock (I know, the small things in life) It had not only the regular alarm, but a flashing light would be an option also. Something I may try and get for home.
Cons: Nothing really not to like. I didn't go down to the bar area, was a bit too millennial for me. Didn't like the dogs in the lobby, I don't like seeing other peoples animals when i travel. This is just my quirk. I love animals, don't want to see them around in a lobby, store, or worse, restaurant/grocery store.

Pros: I just stayed one night due to having a very early flight next day. This is a very modern hotel with a boutique hotel feel. There is a bar in the lobby but I didn't see a restaurant but they have a snack bar but it's best described as an open air mini-bar with the high prices - no complementary snacks to guests. The staff were very nice and helpful. The rooms were modern and very clean. The bed very comfortable, sheets clean and soft. Around 8-9pm they have live music in the lobby so my suggestion is to get a higher floor to avoid any loud music filtering into your room. It's in Cascade Station which is an open air mall with some big box stores (Target, Best Buy etc) includes a few restaurants including Red Robin which is super popular. The hotel provides shuttles to and from the airport. Like any airport hotel, some airplane noise will get into the room but hotel has good insulation so it's minimal.
Cons: Their open air snack bar is really an open air expensive mini-bar - no complimentary snacks to guests if only just one time.

Pros: Comfortable beds Good shower Blackout shades Relatively quiet Near IHOP
Cons: Terrible configuration of room. No light in bathroom separate from whole sink area, which complete lights up bedroom where others are sleeping. Blow dryer provided, but no plug in bathroom except way behind microwave - so had to totally dismantle microwave in order to blow dry my hair. Shuttle took FOREVER to come and front desk staff kept saying "they'll be here soon", which just pissed us off more than if they'd managed expectations with honesty.

Pros: The room itself was large and pretty comfortable. The restaurant had better food than expected. Free breakfast and drink coupons were a plus.
Cons: Firstly my reservation didn't go through for the intended night so I ended up having to book a second night with no refund or discount toward the intended night. I believe this to be the fault of kayak and it's booking service though, not the hotel. I called customer service and they offered no help. Secondly, the hotels pool/hot tub were shut down. That was the entire reason I booked this hotel, for the 24hr pool and hot tub. Essentially I ended up paying $250 for one night with no amenities. Very disappointing. Will not likely book through kayak again. Will not recommend.

Pros: We enjoyed the spacious rooms and the pool and hot tub
Cons: We did not appreciate the condescending attitude received from both the front desk staff and the restaurant staff. Frustrated that "free breakfast" was advertised, but were only given enough coupons for 2 of the 3 days we stayed. Had to pay for the 3rd day. We were consistently treated as though we were inconveniencing the staff. Our kids were relatively well behaved, and we treated all staff with respect and kindness. Not sure what their problem was with us. Beds were extremely uncomfortable as well. I'm normally not a complainer, but our stay was not a good experience. Will not be staying at a Shilo Inn again. I had to ask questions to get any information out of them about breakfast, check out time, etc. We were woken up by loud swearing and door pounding at about 2:30am. It went on for almost 20 minutes. Pros: The gigantic room... It's literally the biggest hotel room I've ever seen. Lots of space... went for long runs out in the industrial part of town.
Cons: The "fitness center" was a joke, basically a tiny room (and it was directly in view of the front desk, so people can see you as they're checking in... awkward... also, it is located between the main hallway and the pool so I had people walking through as I was trying to lift weights... totally stupid. Other than that, the whole place wasn't really my scene. I got the heck out of there, and for $16 more, I was staying at the Courtyard by Marriott downtown on the 15th floor a block away from premium shopping, restaurants, nightlife, and food trucks galore! Contacted Shilo customer service, was told that I would get feedback shortly, but after 2 weeks had to re-contact them and wait another few days just to be told it was a "glitch" that was "highly unlikely to happen". Pros: Service was excellent as you would expect from DoubleTree and the location and transportation options to and from the hotel and around Portland were perfect as I had things to do all over the city including outside of downtown, so this was very centrally located. Bed was comfortable and the hotel itself is a nice facility.
Cons: Rooms and building are old and outdated. The bathroom was tiny and tight and old and felt icky (note - it was very clean but it was so dated that it just felt gross). The bathroom was wedged in the corner and the toilet pretty much up against the wall. Wished there would have been a small refrigerator. Also disappointed with the small coffee service near the elevator - boasts Portland Roasting Co but didn’t seem like their full craft and quality.

Pros: A chill vibe and location. The staff were super helpful and pleasant. They have wine and water to purchase in the room. Restaurants and coffee shops in walking distance. We had some good ramen down the street. They have doors painted with chalkboard paint and chalk to write on them! There's a business center, and small art gallery. Live music and/or band next door. Patios are literally right outside your door, which was super convenient. I'd definitely come back!
Cons: There's only $29.00 valet parking or street parking that has enforcements that start at 8 am. I was able to run down and move my car to the front and pay like $2.00 to park until 10:00 am. I sent my kids into the room before me , and I returned to two pre teen boys asking if they could try on the condoms that are provided as a courtesy in front of my 7yr old. Now I'm fine with that conversation, but I'm still wondering how I'm going to explain that to the bff's mom. The room is super small. It worked fine for the one night, but I would not have stayed here for an extended time with the three kids I had with me on this trip. If you have chill lowkey older or small children you will be fine, but I had two 12 yr old and a 7 yr old boys, and it just wasn't enough space for ALL of thier energy. Overall it was nice!

Cons: Rooms are a tad small but not a big deal. Bathrooms could use more shelves.

Pros: I loved the staff, the architecture, the rooms were fun, no problems at all, the noise was not an issue, and the hotel provided ear plugs if you felt the need for them. Overall, the location of this establishment is amazing, everyone was very friendly and accepting. There's a lot of love in this particular area, you'll feel welcome everywhere and by everyone. Thank you Jupiter.
Cons: I wouldn't say I didn't like anything, I would say that with our group of kids (some of them were very immature) this place is not really for them, this is a great place for someone who's in the 21+ age range looking for a good time! the atmosphere can be intimidated if you are looking for "cozy and quite" and are more conservative in your values, but this is a wonderful experience, definitely recommend.

Pros: Close to everything and everyone I needed to see. The room was clean and the staff was very friendly.
Cons: My room was overlooking the restaurant/bar. I couldn't sleep during any one of the four nights I was at the hotel. It was extremely loud with people partying under my room until 4am in the morning. I get it - the hotel and the restaurant are hip and trendy but if I didn't need to sleep, I would have not booked a hotel at all. If I knew that this was the set up of the hotel, I would have chosen another hotel.

Pros: Love love the Jupiter; this is the second time I've stayed there, and I would definitely stay there again. Their people are wonderful and helpful, and having the Doug fir right there is super rad (in addition to all the other super walkable places). Bed was super comfy (except for the second night...see con review), loved the art (and the great coffee!) in the lobby.
Cons: I know it's Oregon, and thus a bit on the damp side, but on my second night (before my flight out) I woke up in the middle of the night because the bed was soaked from water in the room condensing on me. I had to crank the heat super high to dry it out, and it took awhile. Again...I don't know what could be done to help that (other than keeping the air/heat on high all night like I did).

Pros: Simple but comfortable furnishings, very comfortable bed. No coffee machine in room, or fridge, but free coffee at front desk. Nothing fancy or upscale, but totally fine with cute and unique touches. Nice staff. Really great location! Had a great stay.
