easy to book hotel room
high price for outdated room, staff could be friendlier, ugly view from our window
The Novotel was close to the Parliment Hill, Byward Market and Shopping.
The road construction made access to the hotel difficult. The traffic noise was also very loud on the third floor on a Saturday night.
room had an odour
Location was great.
When we arrived the room had an odour. The staff came and sprayed with air freshener. We were not offered another room. Later in our stay when we turned on the air conditioner in the corner of the unit on the smell of dog and urine wafted out. When I asked if pets had been housed in the room I was told pets were allowed in all the rooms. If you do not want a room used for pets this is not your choice
Location was amazing! Staff very friendly, room clean and comfortable.
Great lobby restaurant. Different twist on flavour with friendly staff
The hotel restaurant was excellent.
The view from the room was depressing. The first one they offered looked upon a parking lot, the next one, which was the only other possibility, upon a construction site filled with debris. The reception desk personnel did not speak French. The bar decoration was not at all like the one posted on Kayak.
It was okay..
I expected it to look a bit newer than it was.
Nice but expensive parking and breakfast
Cleanliness, staff, location was fine since I like to walk. The pool was nice.
Parking price was not listed. Cost $23/day! No mention of that in the add. Also breakfast was a straight $19/person. Too much!
Pillows were terrible. Ice machine did not work. Booked a hotel with a pool and it was not available to be used.
Functional and great location, especially for the
Close to convention center, shopping & Byswater (Bayswater?) restaurant area. Not far from Chateau Laurier or Capital Hill. Clean rooms. Friendly staff at front desk. Cool/funky little restaurant/cafe area on the first floor, which filled up at night. Common areas bright and nicely decorated, with lots of computers for general use. Room was small but functional and clean. Gym was a little disappointing, but had treadmills eliptical and some weight machines. It was fine for a short stay, but not much more. Nearby construction makes for some unattractive views, but it's not noisy or bothersome otherwise. Overall, I was happy with my selection for the price I paid.
Good location for conferences - walking distance from convention center and shopping. Clean room and excellent staff.
Room was directly above the garbage dumpsters, so very early every morning was rudely woken up by garbage trucks slamming dumpsters. I wouldn't normally mention this, but I specifically asked for a room in a quiet area. The dining option has a very limited menu and has a high cost compared to other options for the area.
staff were friendly. the room was clean. Wifi worked fine. there was renovation going on and lobby floor is confused but the room was quiet.
the clean up job daily is very good
they are renovating...
Excellent buffet breakfast that claimed to have the best bread in the city. They did! Modern rooms with very comfortable beds and perfect pillows.
Parking lot is very confusing and you can easily scratch your car unless very careful. It is multi-level and the hotel entrance is down 3 and to the back right. It took me 3-stays to figure this out. Gym is small but gets the job done. Get an upper floor until the renovations are completed. It will be beautiful but is noisy at the moment.
The room was very spacious, with all the amenites I would have wanted. Would like to try the restaurant on my next stay. Staff was very friendly and efficient.
Could not figure out how to get the mini-fridge turned on, but by the time I realized there was one, was sort of too late to come in handy. Oh yes, and the charge for in-room movie was outrageous, almost $16.00.
Good service. Clean bathroom.
Lobby under renovation. I made a duplicate booking and the refund process was slow and passive, and up till now I am still not sure if the refund has materialized or not. There was a fire alarm in the middle of the night during our stay, but the handling of of the emergency situation was OK and not chaotic.
The staff were all extremely nice and quick to help. The room was really clean and comfortable.
The shower head was cracked. We advised the reception desk, but nothing was done about it. There was also only one elevator functioning almost every morning of our stay, which made it a very long wait to get to the lobby.
the hotel is in the centre, just a few minutes walk from the bayview quarter and the shopping centre of ottawa. We had room at the inside - very quiet - downtown of Ottawa! Very large choice of breakfast in a nice restaurant.
We only could open the window a little bit.
facilities are pretty new; good location - close to Parliment Hill, restaurants and highways
quietness of the hotel
booking process was bad - wedding rate promised was taken away, requested a smoking room but did not get one.
friendly staff, nice room , good location
