Just stayed overnight as necessaity
Availability of the gym for the amount of money for the room i expected a lot better state of the room. There were broken tiles in the bathroom and it was dirty around the bath.
Breakfast Check-in, as completely inadequate, wrong keys given which allowed us into wrong room occupied by another guest.
convenience bar prices
Staff were helpul and knowledgable. Those in the dining room were always courteous and friendly as well as efficient and aware of customer's deadlines. (Catching the early plane to Amsterdam for example).
Very helpful staff throughout. Room was very good. Bar and resturant service exellent. Had a very good stay.
Staff were very friendly and the hotel was clean - if a little tired. The location is a little out of the way, on the airport perimeter but that was to be expected.
wine dine sleap swim breakfast
Nothing, it is overpriced and expensice for what it offers. The only plus is it is close to the airport and park and ride Everything. No soap for baqth for time of our stay. No ligjt above bed for length of stay (5 nights). Very noisy very hard to sleep due to big mouth southerners smoking drinking banging doors until the early hours(4am). Poor parking arrangements due to moronic boxing event and the hotel being full of visiting knuckle dragging morons.
Very nice rooms Paying extra for internet access
size of room. easy to find.in fact we liked most things. our room was unbearably hot even though we had the fan on.
nothing booked a double room and got a twin room with a big lump where the mattresses join, told this is normal practice, absolutely unbelievable and awful, wudnt recommend
the hotel in general has a tired look to it as the building is now fairly old. The public area and the dining room are bvery basic
Spa was ok Bed was uncomfortable and decor was fading.
convenient location, check in staff very friendly shower curtain (should be screen), noisy room near road, poor glazing let lots of noise in
lovely quiet room
Easy to find, good location, comfortable room and bed, easy parking,
very disappointed in standard of room for the price paid. overpriced bar with no atmosphere. breakfast room staff not very interested in guests. buffet style breakfast items barely warm. would not stay in this hotel again.
The food was excellant. We were not advised of the wedding reception happening right below us. The room was very hot, we could not open the windows due to the noise.
Lack of staff. Lack of information about Norwich.
Excellent, friendly service from staff. Easy to locate and close enough to the city.
Someone to greet me on arrival. Well lit. Separate and accessible lounge area. Own key. Payment taken on arrival so free to leave following morning.
The staff were very helpful and welcoming. The room was comfortable and very modern, it was very clean also. It was clearly visable from road and easy to get to from city centre. A great stay.
A very nice modern room with a nice feel We like the help yourself breakfast although we felt it could have been a little more tasty!! The sausages could have been more meaty!
access available at all times to room, car parking, walking distance to town Ensuite facilities were to small for comfort, I believe not worthy of 4star rating, as was food quality at breakfast! deep cleaning of some elements within room needed (extractor fan) also I would suggest needs uprating as condensation is affecting decoration (rm 16)
Excellent cleanliness, buffet-style full English breakfast, car parks for about 10 cars
Everything! The staff, welcome; The room was new well apointed and spotless. The breakfast was fresh, wholesome and well presented. the guest house offers excelent off street parking. This is clearly a new bussiness venture and I wish them every success. Keep up these excellent standards and look forward to continued recomendations and repeat custom. I have suggested to Norwich Union that they put you on their recomendation. You are a credit to the city of Norwich
Clean and modern.Breakfast was good and also included into the price that we pay, although during the time we booked online,it stated that breakfast was not included.
Out of the city so quieter but a good bus service if needed, good parking facilities.
4 poster room , everything available from coffee milk to cold beers from fridge bit noisy from grandkids and traffic and squeeky floorboards! [but added to charm]
beautiful place, well kept. the price of the drinks from the honesty bar.
Old manor house with character. Bedroom was large, airy and tastefully decorated. On suite was excellent. Breakfast was individually cooked and very tasty, with fresh fruit, not tinned, available. Highly recommend.
Owner very nice and friendly, really good choice of breakfast, room very comfortable, enjoyed the numerous books on offer to read. Is a beautiful house. I think the hotel would be more suited to the more mature person, but have nothing bad to say about it at all.
This hotel is an excellent place to stay. It is full of old world charm and full of character. I was very warmly welcomed and settled into an excellent room. Breakfast was excellent and grat value for money. I will definitely be staying here again.
We stayed at Old Catton Hall for 3 nights as we were going to a wedding nearby. The history of the place was very interesting and the luxurious rooms were fantastic. Dianne the owner was very attentive and the breakfast were very good. We would definatley stay there again.
The frendliness of the owners / staff and excelent welcome and service
The privacey that we were given, the freedom to come and go as we pleased, the facilities and relaxed mode.
Room faultless with all conveniences. Staff very helpful. poor location for eating out; nowhere within walking distance.
Convenience - near to coast and Norwich - comfort and facilities in hotel itself no
Friendly, helpful staff and comfortable bed!
The staff were very helpful We ended up with a disabled room, and we requested a cot but never received it.
It was very accessible, staff were friendly and helpful. Also the cost was good value for money. We spent two nights, the breakfast was a bit monotonous a bit more variety would be nice.
Helpful staff, comfortable bed, location - younf people hanging around outside in evening only one member of staff doing breakfasts - toaster broke and while she was fixing it plates, cups and other food all ran out. She did a good job in the circumstances but it was too much for one person to do Non-smoking room smelt strongly of smoke
Comfortable Bed Not being able to open windows
I Liked the cleanliness of the room. Probably the fact there was only 2 hot options at breakfast.
The wonderful polite staff for who nothing was to much trouble I would have liked the windows of our room to open a little to let in some fresh air
A clean hotel with modern facilities. Reasonable bar prices, but the restaurant leaves something to be desired! Very helpful reception staff. Microwaved expensive restaurant food.
staff were approachable, polite and without fuss helping me with changes in my requirements during my stay
value for money and very friendly
Good location Friendly staff Good parking facilities Good Gym No fridge in room
Relaxing and comfortable love the pool and sauna facilities A little noisy in the corridors.
Very pleasant and helpful Reception. Very comfortable room. Early check-in and late check-out appreciated. Shower took a while to warm up!
The room was lovely and the extra bed for our daughter was ready when we came and comfortable. Very overbearing, fake friendly receptionist. She needs to learn to slow down and calm down and let guests breath a bit before launching into her standard patter.
The main problem was that our reservation with Active Hotels was not on record at the hotel itself. The hotel reception staff photocopied our printed confirmation in order to investigate. Fortunately there was a room available and the confirmed tariff was honored.
Hotel room was not ready for check at two pm. Heating and air con temperatures are set centrally so couldnt warm up the room only with a radiator located under the window.
Hotel conveniently situated on outskirts of Norwich but within easy access of city centre. Leisure facilities used and enjoyed by my daughter.
Very friendly & helpful staff at front desk
Opportunity for later, buffet style breakfast-excellent standard of housekeeping open plan lounge area straight off entrance too busy & noisy - no quiet areas
It was not possible to have only a cup of coffeee for breakfast without paying the full £13.95 charge.
room was comfortable and location was excellent reception was small and not obvious
The location, and ambiance and artdeco style On arrival having booked two rooms, told they only had one emphasis on my arrangement not their administration/management.Taking one hour to serve meal from ordering with no apology.Cleaning trolley outside room with toillet roll on floor and linen when going down for breakfast
Central city location, convenient for Norwich nightlife. Mould around the shower enclosure and fittings, not expected in a hotel of this standard.
We liked the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, the style of the hotel and decor. We liked the small details that were different from so many large chain hotels, ie the furniture, the provision of a 'real' long leaf tea (not tea bags) real coffee etc. in the room...food in the restaurant was excellent. The room could do with a small table, tray etc and a longer lead on the kettle so we didn't have to put the kettle on the floor to reach a socket and didn't have to put the tea/coffee pot on their furniture with the risk of leaving water marks etc. ....small points really.
Wonderful staff that go the extra mile.
The decor no
The location was very good for our visit. The staff extremely helpful. Lack of a trouser press in the rooms
Very comfortable bed! It was divine! Lovely big bathroom and very, very clean. Breakfast was great. We were there for our friends wedding and the whole weekend went off very well. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were very helpful.
Location Lack of attention to detail - this hotel could be so much better as it is in a perfect location for Norwich city centre, something much needed in Norwich. Some examples of very many shortcomings that I would expect without question in a hotel of this standard - only one bath robe (probably unwashed as there was a tissue in the pocket), toiletries not replenished on two night stay, bin not emptied despite having a discarded sandwich in it, we were not made to feel particularly welcome after a long and tiring drive, rear entrance to hotel from car park gives bad impression as not very well kept etc etc etc... Our room looked tired and in need of some maintenance. Door handle, toilet roll holder falling off, grubby marks on carpets/furniture etc.Staff don't appear well trained - we were not even asked on departure whether everything was ok and of we had had a good stay. Surely this wouldn't be too much trouble?
Good value for money The room was very hot
Room was large enough for 2 of us.
Clean room with good bar facitities and friendly staff. Room was far too hot even with radiator off. We had to sleep with window open wich was not a great feeling because we were on ground floor. Also the rooms were noisy with other guests well into nigt and airconditioning/heating running.
Didn't spend too much time at the hotel but the staff were helpful. Couldn't trun off the central heating properly so the room was roasting. A member of staff had to disable the radiator (which they did promptly)
The staff was very nice and helpful. The room needed urgent updating. Specially the bathroom. No minibar. Above all, they put a perfume in the rooms and corridors that is so strong that makes you sneeze. The bed is not comfortable.
It was very handy for where we needed to go while at norwich No food was available as you arrive, restaurant shuts as you are allowed to book in also room service stops very early
Me3al was excelent
The breakfast staf were wide awake and cheery even in the morning!! i certainly wasn't! Although requested non smoking my room was the only 1without no smoking sign.I think thats why i had a pervading smell of airfresher.
Good, friendly staff. A clean and comfortable hotel ideally situated to visit the city.
Relaxing, good service, good food, lovely hotel & grounds No air conditioning, cost of drinks etc from the mini basket in room, mattress bit hard
All staff were polite and help full
I enjoyed the facilities and the hotel had lots of fine qualities. My partner and I thought the food was the worse meal we ever had, how they can get the meal so wrong twice is unbelivable. The cost for the food was way over priced for the quality and I could recommend near by resteraunts that were far superior and at half the price.
Fantastic luxurious accomodation> top class hotel close to the city for a relaxing weekend. nothing.
Reception staff were very polite and efficient, a pleasure to deal with We had a snack in the golf course cafe and what an experience that was. We sat outside overlooking the 18th green we ordered food but when it was delivered we had to ask for the table to be cleaned, cutlery was dropped on the floor and no condiments were offered. In the morning we went to go for breakfast, nowhere is it indicated where to go to eat, when we found it there was a sign on the notice board outside it. We were greeted by the manager who said "she will show you where to go" whilst he fiddled with his mobile phone and took a call on that, I would assume it to be a private call as he said "yes mate" None of the waitresses were very polite and certainly not attentive, a very limited selection of food was available on the buffet.
The pool area was very impressive, and the staff in the pool area very helpful. The bar was very impersonal and was furnished in an inappropriate fashion. The breakfast we OK but tea was almost undrinkable.
Nice well appointed room. Some friendly staff. Attractive setting. Good swimming pool and spa area A coach party of noisy people ruined the dinner atmosphere, were given the best dining slot, crowded out the breakfast room and caused queing. Breakfast older maitre'd was rude and offhand and did not give way to my disabled wife.
good location clean modern hotel good gym and spa The food at the bistro was the worst i have ever eaten at a 'decent hotel. only one other person in the whole room should have been a clue. After a bottle of corked wine the prawn starter arrived to be followed 15 minutes later by the wine. The prawns went back and a new plate appeared. the sauce one could only describe as a mix between daddies, HP, tomato and jerk Truely revolting! But the fish and chips was to follow. For £12 i expected a large fresh piece of fish. Sometimes small is better and the flacid piece of cod arrived with mccain chips and a pile of lime green dollop. Use the hotel and the main restaurant (where i have had a good mean previously) by avoid the golf club bistro.
The location was stunning and there are certainly a lot of things to do. The staff were very friendly and the ambience of the hotel was very relaxed. Most areas were clean and tidy as was the room although with two Queen beds it was a little cramped. The food in the separate 'Zest' restaurant was better than that served for breakfast which was very run-of-the-mill and appeared to have come straight from cans or packets without any creativity. Our general impression was that the hotel has pretentions beyond the reality.
it was restful and enjoyable
A comfortable recently modernised hotel in a delightful inner city location with a free car park, Also the restaurant is excellent and the staff generally helpful and courteous. Nothing! It ticked all our boxes.
proximity to city centre
Good position in town;friendly/helpful staff; nice room;convenient car parking Not very excited by dinner menu
The helpfulness of your staff was certainly appreciated and available when needed. Also a pleasant bathroom. Our bedroom could have been more comfortable and a large stain on the carpet on entering did not give a good first impression. The duvet was most comfortable but softer pillows would have been nice.
the cleaner looked nice the room was really hot even tho the heating was off, not a huge problem tho
The staff is friendly and the onsite restaurant was fantastic! Rooms are modernized and spacious. Location is excellent. Couldn't have asked for anything more!
In the centre of Norwich - right by the cathedral and excellent choice of pubs and restaurants etc. Near good shops and The Forum A minor point was that the foyer internet access did not work. The room was cold at night due to a problem radiator but they supplied a room heater
Hotel is very conveniently located. Has own car park. Rooms are clean and comfortable and well equiped.
Excellent location lots of original feature Leaving
The Paston room was excellent, but the key fob did not have the room name on it, just the number which confusingly was 412 even though the room is on the second floor.
The position was very good We were at the back of the hotel and the extractor unit was a little noisy
Lovely decor, nice room. Quiet. Very helpful friendly staff. No probs at all.
Location with friendly staff. Needed more people serving in the bar in the evening with training on how to deal with customers in their correct order. I was overlooked when it was "my turn" three times
Excellent staff, couldn't be more helpful and location to Norwich City Football Club perfect! Breakfast and lunch also very good. Overall a bit expensive for a Travelodge on steroids. Lacked atmosphere and character, and for the money we paid I've stayed in better hotels.
Comfortable, clean modern and spacious rooms, all the facilities you'd expect from a good hotel, helpful staff and good food. No
no late night revellers n/a
Big comfortable beds
Location of Hotel, ease of use and good facilities Room Service for Breakfast (didn't arrive!)
The hotel is in a good location for norwich, easy parking, quiet.
Not very much to our disapointment Breakfast was a disgrace
Comfortable relaxing weekend break in a modern coveniently located hotel. Staff very friendly & helpful
Friendliness of staff Not really
Room was clean and had everything you needed for an overnight stay, black out curtains were brilliant (no annoying chinks of light around the edges), front desk staff were welcoming and helpful, very useful location just off A47 and near Norwich city. Breakfast staff were friendly and professional. As with all chain hotels standard of cooked breakfast food was not awesome but there was choice between cereal, toast, pastries and cooked breakfast. (we chose this hotel for its location not its cuisine so it lived up to expectations perfectly and would stay here again).
the food was excellent value the room / hotel needed updating/refurbishing but it was clean
Big room cheap price Reception got no clue shower hot and cold hotel don't care toilet poor flushing cleaners stole my shower gel hotel needs refurb
Room needed redecorating, but informed this was in progress.
Bed and breakfastr deal was excellent value for money, comfortable hotel, friendly staff. Some of the food at breakfast on the first day was not very hot.
Easy to find and convenient with a car. I would describe my room as well used, tired. A lick of paint would go a long way.
Leisure facilities Food / Restaurant was not as good as it could have been. Lack of staff did not help.
spa.staff were pretty good. ran out of various food items.room 218 had a wall picture missing the room heater did not work and decor somewhat shabby. i have stayed at this hotel on several occasions but not for some time, it seemed better then.
Location no lift and requested ground floor
Option to use gym and swimming pool Carvery was very poor. Staff were young and inexperienced. It would make such a difference to this hotel if they had a good restaurant and took away the Carvery.
The downstairs room were nicely furnished and the staff welcoming and friendly. The bed was comfortable My room was freezing cold - I arrived tired and would have appreciated if the heating (a small electric heater) had been on. Long corridors meant I felt vulnerable walking back to my room.
Allowed us early check in to leave bags in our room None
I loved everything about this hotel. Location was fantastic right in the heart of old Norwich. Breakfast was superb and freshly cooked. 1 would certainly stay at Number 17 again. Car parking was expensive but very convenient. Always a problem in city centre location and not the fault of the hotel.
Friendly greet and rooms modern and clean - breakfast delicious and the hotel itself was ideally placed for shopping - the purpose of our trip
Clean, warm and comfortable and a good breakfast. The proprioters were not there to welcome us and although the lady who was there was very pleasant and kind, we felt that our welcome was rushed.
Personal service, rooms well equipped. Breakfast very good and parking provided. Room temperature could not be adjusted, it was a little warm
The room was pleasantly designed with modern furnishings, the bed was extremely comfortable, the shower was wonderful, everything was immaculately clean and there was a good variety of hot and cold foods for breakfast.
Comfortable, warm, good interior décor, good quality furnishings, nice bathroom, great breakfast, excellent location Tv difficult to work despite instructions, overnight parking great but having to move car by 9am when checkout was at 11am inconvenient
Friendly welcoming staff, very comfortable room, and excellent breakfast.
Breakfast was good,Jim made us feel at home, relaxed. Central heating miles too hot, could not adjust it.Could not open window, seemed to be sealed shut which made the situation worse.
Beautiful rooms, luxurious bathroom, very comfortable indeed. Glorious Autumn gardens full of mature trees - our room had a balcony and we enjoyed sitting outside in the late evening sunshine. The birds were our early alarm call! The food was outstanding, we will become regular customers. David & Gaynor Griffiths. Ely, Cambridgeshire.
Very nicely kept inside and outside; welcoming hosts; thoughtfully provided facilities; good food Breakfast timings (7.30-8.45am) possibly a touch early for a restful break!
Food was wonderful.Breakfast and dinner.Staff very helpfull and Hotel was just what we wanted. Internet booking did not go through to the hotel and when I phoned the staff they re-booked me changing the room and tariff to suit my needs for the weekend. So pleased that they did, first class!
Can't fault anything. Fantastic service all round, excellent food, thoroughly recommended.
Quietness, comfort, friendly staff, good food.
The hotel stands in a delightful, tranquil setting. The owners were extremely welcoming and attentve without being intrusive. They clearly know their business. The quality and presentation of food was exellent. Couldnt identify any critically bad points.
Chris & Sally Entwhistle are wonderful hosts; welcoming and friendly. They were very helpful in helping me plan a special birthday surprise for my husband. The food was to die for. It's a beautiful building set in pleasent gardens. Our room could have been bigger.
very clean, staff extremely helpful and friendly, the food was cooked fresh and of a good quality and the wine list was good. rooms were of a high standard
Nice clean hotel, friendly staff. Large room with excellent en suite facility. Internet connection not included in the price of the room.
A perfect break
Nothing The room was very small, there was no room to move. There was a wedding reception in the hotel which kept us awake until early hours in the morning. The restaurant closed and preparation for the following day’s breakfast begun before we finished our meal. Staff was sweeping floor while guests were eating breakfast
The staff were very helpful, I telephoned to inform them I would be late arriving. I had a superb meal awaiting me on my arrival. Bed rather saggy, but slept well anyway.
General ambience Difficulty with entry to room with card. Long waiy for hot water to arrive at tap. Bathroom extractor fan not working.
Room was recently decorated Hotel going through a major refirbishment
Cleaniness of room and excellent food. Nothing
excellent friendly service in this small hotel which is tremendous value. The menu and the wine list are outstanding
Room was great with excellent bathroom. Staff were extremely helpful. I thought £85 per night a little high due no car parking facilities
Just been refurbished so the hotel was in excellent condition, staff very friendly. We phoned the monday before we were due to stay on the thursday to find that too many bookings had been taken for the family rooms, but the staff were very accomodating and managed to book us in a double room at the last minute.
It was surprisingly great, fresh trendy decor and a clean and friendly environment.
The room was clean and kept in good order. Good location. Loud hammering and drilling noises early in the morning - in my five days there I was woken before 8 by the noise. No way to get help if you need it during the night.
Everything except a couple of minor details excellent. Service both friendly and hyper-efficient I suggest it could be improved by having soap tray and shelf in shower. The strip light + shaver socket in room 2 were not working so I couldn't shave.
I very much valued that my room was quiet: no traffic outside, no noisy parties.
Breakfast self service tea poor. No menu. Slow sevice. Room 17 no socket for kettle near tray, nearest socket under tv danger of steam on tv.
Big and comfy bed, clean roon, good water pressure, very good connection to the internet. The fact that you have to chesk-out at 11.00. The bathroom was a bit small.
the style and cleanliness wer excellent ...also nice bar area and the breakfast was very good quality nothing
the breakfast wide choose
The owner was really friendly and helpful with all enquiries. The breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious!!! The heating wasn't on when we went into our room but it didn't take long to warm up once we had turned the radiators on
The hotel is a converted [large] terrace house with rooms that vary from small non en-suite singles to 2/3 bed en-suite. Cleanliness and friendliness were key elements of this hotel (plus a darn good English breakfast). It is close to the centre of Norwich and very close to the rail station. Be realistic in expectation, at only £29 I did not expect a plasma TV and bar in my room - there was a small TV in the room and a good pub very close - but that £29 did include the excellent breakfast.. I have stayed here twice, first time one night this time three, and I will stay again when I am in Norwich. Beware of old reviews of this hotel I believe it changed hands this year and the new couple have upped its quality. nothing negative
Very pleasant people.
helpfulness of staff; cleanliness; nice breakfast would have preferred ensuite room
I found everything to my satisfaction. Mandy and David were very easy to get along with, helpful and attentive, but not 'over the top'. The accommodation was comfortable, clean and the guest house had a peaceful ambience, considering how close it is to a busy city. The breakfast was first class and nothing seemed too much for them when trying to ensure the stay was living up to expectations. I have nothing to state regarding this, as everything seemed to be very well catered for.
quiet place, a very good staff very kind and careful
Staff were polite, pleasant and helpful Floorboards creaked a bit, meaning that you could hear people moving around at night and it made me concerned about disturbing others
This was a very nice budget hotel. It was simply furnished, but it was clean, it includes a full English breakfast, the owners are helpful and friendly, there were nice extras (free wifi, TV with many channels), and it's close to the train station. I felt very comfortable and my room was large.
The room was very comfortable, the bathroom clean, very friendly atmosphere
