Overlooking the golden sand for which it's named, Hotel Areia de Ouro offers charm and hospitality in a distinctive, Mediterranean-style building within a 5-minute walk of Praia de Ponta Negra. Situated about halfway down the bay, the hotel puts you 1 mile (2 kilometers) from both Morro do Careca, the famous "bald" dune at the end of the beach, and from Centro de Convencoes de Natal, the city's convention center to the north. But if you're not traveling on business-or can take a little break-get up early, rent a chair on the beach, and bask in the sunshine. There are plenty of restaurants to explore along the waterfront, but you can also enjoy an alfresco lunch of delicious fresh seafood prepared right on the beach.
You're well-placed to enjoy some of the area's spectacular natural beauty. Less than a 5-minute drive away, you can hop onto Via Costeira, offering access to Praia do Meio about 6.5 miles (10 kilometers) north, with lovely views all the way up. This coastal road is flanked by the Atlantic on one side and lush ecological reserve Parque das Dunas on the other. You can also check out the world's largest cashew tree, Cajueiro de Pirangi, a 25-minute drive; there's a small surcharge for entry into the park to see this remarkable specimen.
After a day in the sun, cool off with a cold drink from the poolside bar and a refreshing swim in the outdoor pool back at Areia De Ouro. Your little ones can spend some time splashing in the children's pool. Need advice on the best local dining spot? Just ask friendly staff; they can also assist with arranging tours. Pros: It is a 3* hotel. It does offers every expected with good comfort . I was impressed by a king bed (other put 2 twin together ) and spotless new sheets. Brakfast had cookies available. Reasonable size...
Pros: Great location, great breakfast, great suite and amazing staff.
Cons: Poor air conditioning, useless kitchen and too much noise from swimming pool area.
