Studio 6 Houston - Hobby is located off I-45 near Alameda Mall, Houston Hobby Airport, and the Houston Space Center. All rooms have a modern look fully equipped kitchens, flat screen TVs and Wi-Fi available for $4.95 per stay.
It 'aint the Ritz but adequatePros: Good location for our needs and seemed to be an OK neighborhood. We did not feel unsafe at any time. No disturbances from other guests during our stay. Room was clean and serviced daily during our 4 day stay. It was easy to find and easy to access I45 in either direction. A lot of restaurants and fast food nearby.
We didn't expect 5 star accommodations and got what we paid for. I think there are a lot of inflated expectations on the part of people for what you get in this price class. We use it only as a place to sleep - spending as little waking time in it as possible. Cons: We checked in late and had called earlier to see if we could reserve a ground floor room. We were told it was first-come first served and wound up with an upstairs room which is hard on my spouse's knees. Next time we will reserve a handicapped room. We had reserved a king and wound up with a queen and no adjustment on price.
Like many others have observed, the No Smoking status of the rooms seems to be more of a suggestion than a rule. The room did smell but was tolerable. While laundry can be controlled and segregated, there is not much you can do once someone smokes in the room.
We did see one small roach during the stay. Considering this was Houston and probably the roach capitol of Texas I thought that was better than average.
The tub in our room had no non-slip coating or appliques so it was very slippery and there are no handholds. I had to assist my spouse getting in and out.
The only other complaint is the extra charge for WiFi access which is not mentioned in most listings. It is mentioned in Kayak's description.
