Nice room and reception area. Too big and impersonal
Location, staff kindness and value for money
Accomodation was truly 5 star, and the access to the beach excellent Catering! Breakfast was mediocre. The Moroccan restaurant lacked choice. The buffet restaurant served food which was barely warm. The Beach restaurant, was OK, but not as good as the one at the Sofitel. In general food in the Atlas was disappointing, and not in keeping with the quality of the rest of the hotel
The hotel was very clean and modern. It was very comfortable especially after staying at various other places in morocco.
The friendly helpful staff, the pool the, in fact the whole experience. No Tea/Coffee facilities in the room..as with most 5* hotels.
Could walk to everything, but it was out of the craziness of the medina.
Lovely, comfort hotel, not as good as 5 star European standard but close enough, missing some extra touches to make it really 5 star also reception staff not really welcoming or friendly in general, should try at least to smile. Location good for beach but 15 mins plus walk to centre. Lovely pool, lobby and room but need to pay extra for sea view etc. Breakfast was not included and at 200 mad too expensive! Staff at reception not friendly, toilets at pool could be a lot cleaner
It was very comfortable
The rooms were amazing, the pool is a bonus too although its not too sheltered from the wind. Very comfortable, breakfast is great The staff were not overly helpful on reception and english was not good
nice views waiting staff, and breakfast not very good
Definitely not suitable for a muslim family.
we had a chambre vue medina but there was no vue at all. a huge concrete wall was put up in front of us, a new hotel probably. yet they advertised this room as a room vue medina. i think that is 'inadmissible' we had a chambre vue medina but there was no vue at all. a huge concrete wall was put up in front of us, a new hotel probably. yet they advertised this room as a room vue medina. i think that is 'inadmissible'as we paid for a room with a vue. in addiiton there were work people constantly in front of us and my daugher and I could never ever sit on the balcony. really horrible
we liked the location, the facility of the private beach We did think the breakfast was value for money, poor choice of cheese, the orange juice was not fresh. The decor of the bedroom a bit old fashion, the spa has not atmosphere compared to other similar hotel
I appreciated the welcome and service in the room. The private beach is well cared for and the pool is functional. Hotels on to expectations.
The local Moroccan restaurant The haughtiness and unfriendliness of the check in desk staff, manager included
Good hotel. Location very good; service very good and friendly. Special attention for our anniversary without asking. Try to have a rrom with an ocean view. It is worth the price.
Spacious room. Good aircon. Large comfortable bed. Excellent location. Good pool. Polite and helpful staff. We had a very comfortable stay.. Appearance of bathroom a litle tired and shower not quite hot enough.
The Swimming pool was amazing and the room had a lovely balcony facing onto the pool. The cleaning staff were also very helpful and friendly The breakfast costing 18 euro was very expensive. Also when we arrived we were never told about any of the facilities or restaurants which we had to find out for ourselves
The location was excellent, the rooms were clean. Compared with most places, its a little expensive; however this seem to be the trend in morocco as a whole.
Central swimming pool and location to the beach
The postion was excellent and the views were stunning. The staff were very friendly and gave excellent service. After 5 days the breakfasts became a bit boring. We had to ask for clean towels twice. There was only 1 hairdryer for 23 rooms and it was broken for 2 days.
Probably the best value you can get for your money in Essaouira. Great service, very friendly staff, nice well taken care of rooms with a great rooftop terrasse cafe. And all this for a backpacker's budget. Their hamman is a must-do experience. And the location, inside the city walls but close to the gate so you can still access it by car, is unbeatable.
The proximity to the Medina was great. The staff were excellent. There is a mismatch between the Booking.com description of the rooms and the actual room. The 35 sq m room does not exist ?? The was no safe in the room.
Comfortable place with an excellent staff that I would like to recommend to anyone that visits the city.
Nice hotel, good location.
The sea view was magnificent. No alcohol exists in the hotel. If you want some wine with your dinner you have to bring your own. We
We had a room with a double aspect sea view which was fantastic. The restaurant is on the roof so there are spectacular sea views for you to admire while you are having breakfast. The location is perfect. The outside roof terrace was very mucky. I can see that the seagulls are a big problem but if the area was cleaned up it would be great to sit out there as the views are great.
Excellent staff, very helpful and courteous. Stayed in a sea view suite overlooking the Atlantic. Felt like sleeping on the beach.Magnificent hotel.
A wonderful place on earth. We enjoyed every minute in our room - with the view, wind and waves - and also the interior of the whole hotel - and the roof terrasse - and the friendly staff.
Great location and fantastic views. Staff were very friendly and the breakfast was very good. The receptionist enquired about activities we might be interested in, we mentioned horse riding and she was very insistent about booking it for us. I'd say she is on commission. Anyway it turns out the ranch they use is Diabat, which we read some bad reviews about and the reviews are true...the horses are skittish and jumpy and I wouldn't recommend doing horse riding through the hotel.
The view from our room was the most breathtaking seaside view I have ever seen. It was like being at sea. The staff was incredibly nice, helpful, and solicitous.
The hotel is in an extraordinary position by the sea, and the room we had was like being in a ship on the high seas. We were surrounded by rocks and crashing waves. The wind and sea were quite noisy although it didn't disturb our sleep. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. The breakfasts were ok but we had better breakfasts in other places in Morocco
Located absolutely in incredible place- directly on the ocean coast...Very romantic, nice staff, friendly and helpful... Yes coz the cleaning women was stolen my money when I was out from the room. She was stollen 40 euro from my pocket but probably it's my fault - to leave money in the room.
The hotel was very well situated and the common areas were beautifully appointed. The shower room was shabby and was in dire need of renovation, which would not cost the earth in Morocco. The hotel prides inself in having open views, yet our room overlooked a brick wall of a building being renovated 8 feet away.
Friendly helpful staff - excellent breakfasts that were well presented and a good all round atmosphere
Location is perfect. Nice 19th century building. The hot water is spotty. Runs out if you shower in late morning.
Staff were very friendly and kind. The arichitecture of the hotel was incredible and the room very beautiful. The advert on booking .com did not convey how the hotel was. It said there was a swimming pool which there wasn't ! Also it did not say no visa accepted.
The Palazzo Desdemona is a funky old building with a lot of charm and mystery. The rooms were huge and we enjoyed our stay a lot. The location was perfect for exploring Essaouira
The staff were extremely friendly, and we went with our 20 month old child and couldn't have picked a better place for that. Very child friendly. Also very relaxed atmosphere, especially in the evening when enjoying a nice meal and lovely Moroccan wine. These are very minor points compared with the overal excellence. Breakfast was good but a bit carb based, and the pool was colder than ideal.
Swimming Pool and location of the hotel The room was dense and the bed was extremely hard
We found the staff and owners of this Riad to be most helpfull, friendly and welcoming. The facillities were good and the location close to the beach and within easy walk of the old town excellent. This small family run hotel offers a calm and relaxing experience. The only area of comment would be we found the beds to be "firmer" as in hard, when compared with those found in European hotels, but probably this reflects the very "local" nature of the hotel.
lovely house and very friendly owners
Stayed in Riad Zahra for a week last week! Couldnt fault this place at all! Was amazing! Welcomed by friedndly staff members, who were extremely helpful and also spoke good english! Riad was at the end of the beach, about a 20 minute walk from the medina, which we found very nice in the evening to walk off diner and a nice break from being in the busy medina! Room was very comfy, breakfast in the morning was good, continental - bread, pain au chocolate, fresh orange and coffee!! Swimming pool was much appreciated a nice break from the midday sun! Would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone thinking of visiting!! No!
A very nice Riad with a beautifully laid out reception area. Central staircase, plants, paintings etc. Very large rooms that were clean & well kept. The pool was a decent size & all the more interesting because of the resident two turtles & eight or so tortoises that patrolled the surrounding area. Adequate breakfasts (continental) although slightly heavy on the bread side! The riad is about a 15-20 minute stroll along the sea front to the medina. Very pleasant as this allows your dinner to settle on the return plus you have a quiet night. A lovely place to stay! The water supply to the shower was patchy in late afternoon but having said that new water tanks were installed while we were there. The approach road/alley to the Riad leaves something to be desired but then again that's Morocco for you!
Quiet and nice pool (with turtles!)
Well located for kitesurfing!
very good overall. swimming pool with turtles, nice breakfast and dinner with a bar. very close to sea
The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. The facitlities were great and the breakfasts and evening meals were excellent.
This was a beautiful and comfortable riad. It was just a few streets off the main action so nice and quiet. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The room was comfortable and quiet. The terrace on the roof is beautiful and has good views. Breakfast can be served on the terrace and was very good. The riad style of the hotel makes it noisy at times. There were children staying in other rooms and were quite loud in the mornings. They only left us one towel for two people but provided a second on request. The desk staff was highly variable in english understanding so knowing a bit of french was very helpful.
delightful staff--good value
Beautiful hotel, the rooms are very spacious, clean and calm. The tagine we had was amazing, the best we had during our trip, made especially for us, taken in the library, was a real treat! Nice roof terrace. Very helpful staff, always there for you. Really good address, to be recommended. The room we had didn't have a window in the bathroom, which was a shame.
Very cosy hotel with great atmosphere. Friendly staff. Beautiful roof terrace. Good to know that not all room have exterior window but a window facing the patio. And no tv. Not at all a problem to us.
Outstanding terrace on the roof top, very nice breakfast and lovely colonial patio at the entrance.
location was excellent and roof terrace had great views Place felt dated, dark, unloved and creepy. The staff were helpful but not friendly. Breakfast was basic but good.
the riad was beautiful with a fabulous roof terrace. The room was lovely and the staff could not have been more helpful. We were looking for a relaxing break in stylish surroundings and we couldn't have been happier. Les Terrasses d'Essaouira was an oasis of charm in the midst of the bustle of the medina. Location was superb as it is located close to the sea wall and surrounded by many eateries within short walking distance. We had not had the riad experience before and I couldn't fault this one. Nothing to moan about.
This is a beautifully decorated Riad owned and managed by a French couple. The house is 200 years old (according to the hotel staff), but carefully redecorated and modernised. Each room has a colour theme and all the details are carefully chosen. In the inside courtyard there is a lounge area to relax during the day or in the evening with the candlelight and morrocan lamps. Another possibility to enjoy the sun and relax is on the roof. The rose petals were spread on our bed and in the bathroom sink which was very romantic. The street is one of the main streets and not a small ally, which made me feel very safe.
The staff are extremely friendly and relaxed, the tea and bicuits on arrival were very welcome. If you leave the plug out of the bath you get a bad smell of drains in the morning. If you rise late, 8:30 plus, you have a cold shower. The credit card machine did not work at checkout, we had to make a quick trip to the bank to get some cash.
Dirt, dirt and more dirt. I arrived at this ryad and 15min later I wish I was out of there. I’m 36 and I travelled four continents and this was the worst hotelier experience in my life. Amazing amount of dirt in the tiles and the swirls of hairs in the stairs and common areas. A grey cover of dust in the floor and furniture, all over the room and dried urine spots in the toilet. When I told that obviously we wouldn’t stay for the 2 nights that we had booked they made clear that I would pay both. The lady (owner) was at the reception the next morning when we checked out with a 2 night bill and her main argument was: the cleaning is proper. Well I’m afraid that is not proper anywhere but in a miserable house.
wonderful riad, relaxed atmosphere, nice and clean rooms, fantastic roof-deck where brackfast is served, very friendly staff, perfectly located in the medina of Essaouira, close the the Supratours bus station, near to beach and port
Superbly renovated and tastefully decorated, Casa Lila offered a great oasis during our stay in Essaouaria. The owner and staff were most welcoming and helpful, and breakfast was just right. We will visit again!!
Location was excellent,. Room was large, nice and clean. Breakfast was good and staff were really lovely. Owners were there and were really nice and attentive. Bathroom with toilet/shower in apartment room a bit small and dark. Hotel a bit noisy on street side room
The decor in the hotel was beautiful and it was so peaceful we didn't want to leave our room! Breakfast on the roof terrace was lovely and every day there was fresh rose petals arranged on the bed and round the bathroom. The staff / owners were really kind to us when we came down with flu while we were there.
An amazing hotel - beautiful rooms beyond expectations, great staff, good breakfasts. the highlight of our trip to Morroco.
Hotel and staff were so friendly. Really chiiled enviroment. Our room was fabulous with and amazing bath sprinkled with rose petals and candles! Totally would recomend and go back.
the room and staff
We were greeted by a member of staff who told us everything we needed to know about Essaouira, including a tip for the best restaurant in town - Elizir. We stayed in 2 different rooms - Berber & Hayate. Both were very clean and nicely decorated, Hayate has the biggest bath you've ever seen, almost a swimming pool. Breakfast was fantastic, even included cake!
Great food, beautiful rooms and very friendly and nice staff. Everyday freshly made cake and bread fpr breakfast. The bathroom is only separated by a curtain from the rest of the room.
it is an pure muslim hotel, with strong muslim rooms. i had to rent another room for my husband!!! the hotel is very dirty, we had only warm water in one room, staff is ofensif to non muslims. I am muslim but cannot accept this treatment in an "international" hotel. we cancelled after one night_ as mentionned above, you have to declare that it is a pure muslim hotel, with strongest religious rules and food agapted only for muslims. no alcohol, no married people acepted without the legal papers( who carries them thesedays with in the holidays???) vey ,very bad experience, very unclean, many things broken, no warm water
The panini and the chips were nice and the pool attendant was helpful and friendly. The room was dirty, the reception staff were not friendly, the bed sheets had holes in them and the shower was broken.
