Overview of China Eastern

China Eastern Airlines operates flights to more than 30 countries across the globe. In addition to an extensive network throughout Asia and the Pacific region, it also reaches as far as Europe, North America and Oceania. Most international flights depart from its primary hub in Shanghai, while additional hubs are located in Kunming, Beijing, Qingdao and Xi’an, helping to service more than 150 destinations throughout China.

China United Airlines and Shanghai Airlines are both subsidiaries that sit underneath it, expanding its domestic influence. It is a full member of the SkyTeam alliance and customers can benefit from smoother transfers and spread of departure options. Separate codeshare agreements are held with British Airways, China Southern Airlines, Etihad Airways, Japan Airlines, Qantas and WestJet.

Depending on the model of aircraft flown, China Eastern Airlines offers Economy, Business Class and First Class. Chinese tea is offered with all meals, with Economy passengers provided a blanket and pillow. Passengers can recline to a flatbed in Business Class, where an amenity kit featuring slippers is also supplied. Modern jets in the fleet feature First Class, which is limited to roughly 6 passengers. There are pod style booths with sliding doors and guaranteed aisle access.

Boeing and Airbus planes are flown by China Eastern Airlines. Some of the most commonly operated models include the Boeing 737 Next Generation and Airbus A320-200. The Boeing 777-300ER is one of the largest in use and has a capacity exceeding 310 passengers. SkyTeam branding is painted on several of the fleet, while specialized Disney, Yunnan peacock and Apsaras liveries can also be spotted.
