7.0 Good
Pros: The spa facilities and food were amazing.
Cons: I think the deluxe room could have been more luxurious for the price per night. Also I thought the additional price for breakfast was too much when you've already paid over 200 euros for the room.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Landscape and beautiful garden
Cons: Breakfast is nothing special, staff is not attentive and arrogant, room 127 is a nightmare with badly finish wooden ceiling (like if it’s under construction), old carpet, many spikes in the wall which can easily damage you, lack of windows and terrible access (via two decks of stairs)
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The suite is amazing, it has everything you can dream of. The spa is clean, pleasant and beautiful
Cons: Breakfast is expensive. The swimming pool is cold
5.0 Okay
Pros: Personal, breakfast.
Cons: The room is very old fashion and also with dirty walls, dirty carpets. Some items were broken. They have a room with 2 floors without a gate for the stairs, we were traveling with a 2 years old! This room was awful dirty (walls, carpets, etc). We changed the room and it was better.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpfull staff, fabulous place decorated in X-mas atmosphere, real X-mas tree in the living room, excellent breakfast. You feel the quietness and rest instantly.
Cons: Dustweb under the table in the living room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing room, service and breakfast. Beautiful grounds and a lot of history. Peaceful surrounding area. Generally very friendly people. Not a great deal to do for the kids but everything else makes up for it.
8.3 Excellent
Cons: Expensive and prices change daily.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Bianca and Martin were very friendly and welcoming and always ready to help with all little details. Christmas decor with lights and soft christmas music playing in the background added to the charm of the cosy reception area. Very good breakfast. We really enjoyed our stay there. And thanks a lot for the gift Bianca & Martin :)
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Really lovely welcome from Bianca and Martin, with helpful tips on where to eat, where to have a drink, and where to take a beautiful walk in the countryside. The beds were comfortable and the room was spacious and quiet. Breakfast was tasty and there was plenty of it! We visited over Easter so had their delicious Easter Bread for breakfast. Would definitely stay here again.

Pros: Very friendly staff lovely clean warm room. Breakfast was amazing so much to choose
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location couldn’t be better, 100 yards to the heart of the town. Friendly staff. Not a breakfast person but did have b/f one day and there was a large selection of fresh food (breads, cereals, fruit, meats, juices, tea & coffee etc). Bathroom was huge, water heated up very quickly. Room was a really nice size, beds very comfy, linens very clean. The whole hotel was very clean.
Cons: One slight negative: asked for a taxi to be booked to take us to the station but was directed to the taxi rank in the square instead. It was early (9am) so there were no taxis but, luckily, a local shop owner phoned to order one for us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely family run hotel in a fantastic location. Central to everything. The hotel is immaculate and the breakfast was good. Would definitely stay here again.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location. Great breakfast.
Cons: We had a medical emergency with our dog and had to leave a day early. Although we left very close to normal checkout time, and expected to pay something, we were required to pay the full amount. This is, mind you, on a very busy weekend when I am confidant they were easily able to re-let the room. This was disappointing and a failure of basic human consideration.
10.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel in great location! Can get confusing since road is blocked bc of the Christmas market (have to go up and around!) Hostess was soooo sweet and breakfast was delish! Will def come back—we love this city!
Cons: Parking is confusing ONLY bc of road closures for Christmas market.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful breakfast and the hotel staff was very friendly.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The hospitality of the hostess and her farther was exceptional very welcoming . I emailed asking if I could park my motorcycle in the garage and they had made a space for my arrival and were ready when I arrived. The breakfast was lovely and well presented at a time of our choosing. The area feels very safe even late at night as does the whole of the beautiful city of Valkenburg. The hotel gave us discount vouchers for many attractions and restaurant's on arrival. For the price paid we were very satisfied with this Hotel and we will stay here again.
Cons: Nothing to really dislike given the good value of the hotel. The weather was very hot during our stay and the room was very warm but the hotel provided a fan which helped. This is not a criticism of the hotel
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We come to Valkenburg every year for the Midsummer Prog Festival and it’s our second stay at the Hotel Lela. This time we had my in-laws with us. It really is a home from home. The location is perfect, a stone’s throw from the Openluchttheatre where the festival is held but away from the busy main streets. Denise is the most friendly and welcoming host, nothing is too much trouble! My father in law had bought a belt which was too loose and Denise’s father made a new hole for it. We had forgotten suncream and Denise brought us some to put on before we went out. Just a couple of examples of how she goes above and beyond to ensure the comfort of guests! Breakfast in the morning on the pretty terrace in front of the hotel was a particular highlight. Most of all, my in-laws loved it! We will be back next year.
Cons: Nothing not to love!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Localization near the city center. Friendly and helpful staff. Tipical family hotel.
Cons: The beds should have better (or more) pillows

Pros: Really close to all the shops and restaurants and it’s located in a 100 year old building near ruins. The breakfast was excellent!

3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Property was double booked
7.5 Good
Pros: The spa area was amazing. We really enjoyed our time spent there.
Cons: We just found the hotel area to be really dated. The breakfast order wasn’t taken twice and when they did deliver the breakfast there was never any salt. They were always empty.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The pool area is big and not packed.
Cons: The hotel doesn't deliver the experience that we were expecting, for a 4-star hotel. Everything is not 4 star, in all details. The pool was nice, but it not worth it the money. Also, they charge you for everything, even simple things like flip flops to use in the pool area. The access to the room is poor, also the room itself.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Brilliant place to relax as well as travel to local towns; Valkenburg, Aachen & Maastricht. We only had breakfast & lunch at the hotel which were both good.
Cons: Queuing for breakfast, room not big enough. Robes and slippers not included in rooms, had to hire these.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: + fluffy bed, pillows and carpets; + delicious breakfast, a lot of options; + Welness centre has a lot of space and options to do. The restaurant Senses on the sight is a marvelous bohemic place to relax inbetween sauna sessions; + Beautiful location, a stroll away from the old town.
Cons: - the hotel guests have to pay extra 14 euros for parking, that is a ripp-off, cause I don't see a point why a hotel should charge you extra for parking; - if you make reservation via booking.com, check weather the hotel is providing you with extra amenities like bathrobes, bed preferencies ect. cause in our case if we wouldn't point out to the lady at the desk that we had bathrobes included we would be paying extra.
Hotel Botterweck - Valkenburg - Building

8.2 Excellent (1,805 reviews)
AED 331+
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hotel Botterweck, you'll be centrally located in Valkenburg aan de Geul, steps from Theodoor Dorrenplein and within a 5-minute walk of Valkenburg Castle. Featured amenities include multilingual staff, luggage storage, and an elevator.
6.0 Good
Pros: Location was excellent and staff were friendly.
Cons: This place has the potential to be much nicer, but unfortunately it hasn't been taken care of. Simply walking up the staircase to the second floor feels as though it may come crashing down at any moment -- the same is true for the floorboards in the rooms. The bathroom resembled the photos, though it was a shame to see how poor maintenance had been: non-functioning extractor fan that hadn't seen a cloth since installation; saggy mattresses; very noisy if you get unlucky with neighbors and a squeaky and bouncy floor.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is located right in the centre of the town, Christmas market was 30 meters away, all the restaurants were less than 5 minutes walk away. If you want to be in the heart of the things to do you can't go wrong with this hotel.
Cons: Be careful if you are using the trains, they can be cancelled and you don't have many options if this happens.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Ideal location, clean friendly, second time we have stopped there, no complaints.
Cons: Parking is a good walk from the hotel.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice little hotel in the centre of valkenberg Fantastic location for visiting the caves Easy to get to from the train station 10-15 minute walk
Cons: No tea and coffee making facilities in the room No wardrobe just a hanging rail Breakfast was fantastic on the first day things were replenished frequently but sadly this didn’t happen every day and the selection looked very poor and old on our third morning
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was excellent. Right in the center and an easy walk from the train station and all the Christmas markets. The staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was a good buffet spread and the beds were SO comfy! Overall an excellent stay and I would recommend them to anyone looking for accommodation in the area.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, right in the centre of the city, easy walk to all restaurants, bars and the Valkenburg caves. Very good breakfast buffet, friendly staff.
Cons: Nothing! Only a suggestion for improvement, it would be nice if the hotel had negotiated discounted rate for a nearby parking lot, since the hotel is not accessible by car.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is our third stay at the Hotel Botterweck. The hotel is very clean & comfortable and its location is excellent. We have always had a warm welcome from the staff, who are very helpful. We always stay the same time of the year as we enjoy the Christmas parade - this is amazing to see the children, of all ages, taking part - and also the caves Christmas markets. The history of the caves is extremely interesting and we are looking at visiting in the summer so that we can experience the tours and history of the caves.
Cons: All positive

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice appartement with everything you need. On walking distance from city center.
Cons: You need to get the key at the hotel, few hundred meters further.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great choice for a family. We were able to prepare simple meals with the equipment in the kitchenette (microwave, hobs, kettle...) The breakfast up at the hotel up the road was abundant including yummy pancakes! And the pool/sauna facilities were great. The outdoor pool was open as well but we didn't use it- too cold ;) Plenty of towels provided for this purpose.
Cons: Slightly leaking sink in the bathroom meant there was a bit of a wet floor at times.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location, right next to the Christmas area! Not noisy. It was clean with enough towels to use. The rooms are spacious. It is a bit expensive for what you get, but I mean with the location I guess it's fair enough since we were during the Christmas period.
Cons: The matrassen were too soft for us. One thing that was quite unclear for us was that we needed to pick up the keys at a different place. It is not too far, but it would be great if there is more information about this while booking. Also, we thought that there was nog parking spot available because there is none at the apartments, but there is at the hotel! Which is really nice - if you know. It would be great for future guests to receive an e-mail in advance with all this information.
7.1 Good
Pros: We were very close to the town and it's restaurant s. The town is well worth a visit.
Cons: Collection of the Key is complex. The key collection is from the reception of s hotel and is on the 3rd Floor which was difficult to locate.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Good location only a short walk from the centre of town
Cons: Appartment at top of six flights of stairs
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Although the household stuff has not good condition but that was quite clean. You can reach every kind of restaurant by couple of minutes.
6.7 Good
Pros: I liked the fact that it was an apartment with a lovely garden and a swimming pool.

Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, a 24-hour front desk, and multilingual staff. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
6.3 Good
Pros: Lovely location and did enjoy ourselves. Staff is friendly. You can see that it must have been a great hotel in the past but really a shame they don't put more effort in.
Cons: Bad service and hotel needs some maintenance. Maintenance: Sharpe edges at pool, my son had a small cut on feet, screw sticks out of floor in room, toilet didn't stop flushing and other small points. Old beds, very soft mattress, I could hardly sleep on it. Service: made a complaint and they did not do anything with it. Booked the restaurant at reception but was not known at the restaurant. Service in restaurant poor. Did not clean the wellnes area properly over the 3 nights we were there. Long queue at check-in. Not as one would expect from 4 stars.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Classy hotel with some areas a little outdated. But overall very nice and will stay there again if in Valkenburg. Hotel has a Very nice swimming pool and sauna. Nice bar and restaurant with a view and a short walk (5 mins) to the center with all restaurants and bars!
Cons: Would prefer a room with a double bed, but only had room with 2 single beds which were next to each other. Not ideal for a couple but great for friends. Breakfast only available with full breakfast at 18 euro each. Would have liked to enjoy breakfast with a smaller offering.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Did not have any meals during our short stay. Magnificent indoor swimming pool.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Food was good quality. Spacious hotel.
Cons: Service from Staff at restaurant was extremely slow, especially considering the evening meal is a set menu. Lots of loud children in the pool so don't book if you want a relaxing break. Rooms let in lots of outside noise. Hotel gym is extremely warm because it is next to the pool area and the cleaners prop the door open.
1.0 Poor
Cons: I will never go back in this hotel. I booked a room in this hotel for 2 nights during the Christmas holidays, and I paid a total amount of 450€ (around 200€ per night). When I made the online reservation, I accepted to pay this price because I really expected a service & room quality of a 5-star hotel but, instead, my wife and I had the impression to be in a (maximum) 2-star hotel. First, one of the bed lamps was out of order, and the ceiling light was so dim that it was very difficult to read one’s book in the bedroom. Additionally, the number of TV channels was very limited (most basic TV package of the Netherlands). I mentioned these three problems two times at the reception, but nothing has been done, and, of course, not even a word of excuse, though I had been promised that a technician would intervene. But more important is that the room is old-fashioned, the noise insulation provided by the window is largely insufficient (we could clearly hear the movement of vehicles passing along the road nearby), and the noise insulation provided by the very basic door is even more insufficient (I woke up suddenly at 3 o’clock in the morning, simply because two guests came back at the hotel and talked a bit loud), and the width of the duvet on the bed was insufficient. Not to mention, the lack of communication skill from the hotel manager who cut short our exchange of e-mails simply because she didn't like the tone of my message. Incredible ! There are plenty of hotels in Valkenburg. You will easily find one that is half the price of what I paid, and of a much better quality. When I selected Hotel Park, I automatically thought that the price would be in line with the quality and service that anybody can expect for 200€ per night, especially in an area like Valkenburg, which is not a big city. Instead, we have been given a basic, old-fashioned, dark, gloomy room, whose price is largely overrated. We have clearly been cheated. This is not honest.

Pros: The location is good and closed to the city center. It is really convinient to go to the Valkenburg to grab some drinks.
Cons: The heating radiator did not work so well. That made room cold at winter night.

Cons: Some of the hotel staff were ignoring me because of speaking english

Pros: Perfect location! Super room! Comfy bed! Quiet! Lovely staff!
6.0 Good
Pros: The location of the hotel is ideal for discovering the beatifull city of Valkenburg. The reception and breakfast was good. The staff was friendly. For 11€ per day extra, the car could be parked on a closed yard not too far.
Cons: The room however was very small. The bathroom was realy tiny and not practical. The shower had a curtain (!) which was not very clean and, although the tiled floor was ice cold, there was not mat available. One of the lamps next to the bed had a stain (looked like blood!) and the mattresses kept sliding off the bed.

Pros: The pool area was very nice to have in winter for our daughter. Rooms were a good size. Communication was good before arriving and check in/check out was easy. The breakfast was also tasty with lots of options.
Cons: The room was quite outdated and smelled pretty moldy. We could open the window but otherwise I don’t think there were any vents in the room or bathroom. Just didn’t feel like good value for the money. The choices by management on what all to charge for is also baffling. 11€/night for parking even though in front of the hotel it’s free from 8pm to 11am, so if you’re just staying one night there’s no point in going to their parking lot and paying. It’s also 2€/pool towel which the cleaning staff took even though they were hanging up and not on the floor (so would have had to repay each day for a pool towel?), 5€/night for a kids cot, in the bar at Happy Hour if you didn’t specify that you were ordering a happy hour drink then you didn’t get the right one/right price and they wouldn’t fix it, it cost money to use the Sauna, etc. Fine if all these prices are published but still seems a little extreme considering the price per night in December for the older quality of the hotel. And unfortunate how some of these are dealt with like the pool towels and drinks. Just made the stay a little unpleasant and felt like not really nice customer service.

Pros: The location
Cons: Shower in a bath wit nowhere to hang the shower head
4.0 Okay
Pros: The location of the hotel was great. The staff were welcoming when we arrived. We were able to park at the hotel. Despite being very close to the town centre it was quite and live music in the bar/public area on several nights in the week, the room was well soundproofed and quiet.
Cons: We had what the hotel described as a budget room, mean is what I would call it. There was a huge bed in the room, with bedside tables, one chair and a hanging space inside the door. There was a shelf that left only a few inches to get round. This meant that on the first night you walked into the shelf when accessing the bathroom. The bathroom was tiny and had one small bar of soap and one small bottle of shower gel. nothing was replenished. On the final night we had no shower gel left, so went to reception and asked for more. I was given some, but firstly I was asked to wait until room service came in the morning. I pointed out that as it was our final night I couldn't wait! There was a kettle, two mugs and tea/coffee on the dangerous shelf. However, none of this was cleaned. If you weren't prepared to wash the cups yourself, you could go to reception and get clean ones..... For over £100 per night, without breakfast or parking, this was not good value for money.

Pros: Comfy bed, clean great location. Car park
Cons: Very noisy from road outside and also from other rooms! Coffee machine in room, no coffee/ tea/cups. Room was across the road from the hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and close to everything. Staff are friendly.
Cons: No front photo in the website. I missed it twice the night I’m looking to check in.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The location was very central with good access to everything we wanted to visit.
Cons: There was no hot water for 2 days. In the middle of winter this is unacceptable. And it shouldn't be an issue for hotel guests to be showering around the same time in the morning. Hotel plumbing should be well equipped to deal with this!
7.0 Good
Pros: The location is great, so is the breakfast. I love that they have many choices of healthy breakfast(granola, cereals and oats). Great energy for a long walk.
Cons: I stayed in a room with window facing to the main road. It got quite busy and the noise from the traffic was loud.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location! Friendly staff! Breakfast was good and everything was close by to city center. If you’re a no frills person this place is definitely worth it for the price! Reception was very friendly and they cared!
Cons: There was nothing i did not like. For the price I paid I got 5 star service from the staff. The rooms were clean and that is all I expected. The breakfast was a bonus.
