Mix up w/ a reservation and they called and threatened me.
Crystal an El Cortez employee called me on my cell phone the 2nd to last day of our reservation threatening me. She told me that they were throwing all of our stuff out, that I should have already checked-out, that I hadn't paid etc. etc..... I explained in a calmly manner that it must be a mistake. My husband and I had booked the room for that whole weekend and that we had already paid for it. Crystal argued over the phone w/ me saying that I was in the wrong and that we better come down immediately to retrieve our things before someone else takes off with them. I again pressed that there must be some sort of mix-up. Crystal then proceeded to tell me to "come down and prove it". I was at a music festival w/ no ins-or-outs. I had to leave the festival which I paid $75 to be at to "prove" that I was in fact telling the truth. She was the RUDEST employee I have ever encountered, a real NASTY bit** They had cancelled our key-cards so we weren't even able to access the Cabana to see if our stuff was laid outside. My husband called and talked to them. He also had to leave the festival (another $75 down the drain) to go to the front desk to straighten everything out. They in fact had messed up and mixed my name up w/ another guest. They were very unapologetic. They reissued key cards for us that ended up not working. We had to go back to the front desk to explain that we weren't able to access our room. Finally, 4 key cards later we were able to access our room and check on our belongings. I have never been that angered at a business in my life. Here I was having a grand old time at this awesome music festival to get called out of the blue and threatened by CRYSTAL the El Cortez employee/operator that all of my belongings were being thrown out on the street. My husband and I have stayed at this hotel every memorial weekend for the past 5 years. We have never been treated this horribly before. They (Crystal especially) ruined what would have been a near "perfect" vacation. Needless to say we will never be staying there again. It's rather unfortunate.
We were in the Cabana Suites. They upgraded us to a king bed which was nice. I loved how it was separate from the casino so it didn't smell like smoke. I loved the free coffee and other free items. I loved our room it just seemed really luxurious and I felt very comfortable on the bed.
I wished it came with more complimentary waters and had free snack stuff but I know it costs money to the hotel. I was hoping for room service/food delivery. Seemed kinda small compared to other hotels I've stayed in but I get its a hotel not an apartment. The corner of the metal trim by the toilet was sharp and I always caut my arm on it. It was in unit 6215.
Shower was broken. Parking attendant was rude. And ac unit barely worked. Called it
It was a wonderful day I enjoyed being there I would go back again
It was excellentNancy
Too much noise - nobody should stay here
Loud music was playing whole night. Giving a pair of ear plug is not a solution.
Always top notch
I love the casino floor. Classic, smokey. Friendly staff and bartenders. The rooms are spacious, vintage. Comfortable bed. Shower works well and hot water always works. There's a functional window in the bathroom, which is nice and not available at other hotels. Air conditioner gets really cold which is great. Check out is at noon!!
Cute old historical in great location
I loved the location and I love that it's one of the originals. It's very cute. The food at seigels was pretty good too.
It smells like cigarettes and perfume. Not so much in my room when I turned my air down but with my ac on I'd start smelling it. Just the same like any hotel casino in Vegas but just a hundred years of it.
Close to the Fremont experience street. Not a bad deal given the price.
At the front desk you will be surprised by additional fees that aren't mentioned while booking. The staff are unfriendly. The room's service was very bad.
Easy walking to Fremont experience.
No pool and not kid friendly. Our's are 14-18 and still bored to death. Had issues with the electrical outlets. None of the bottom ones worked. We had to unplug things to charge our devices. I had to put my phone in the bathroom to charge. Speaking of bathroom, the floor was wet when we arrived, and remained wet. Even after putting down several towels.
Cabana room had good amenities.
Staff could have been a little more friendlier.
Deluxe Cabana Suite
I had the pleasure to stay in the deluxe cabana suite at the El Cortez. I absolutely loved my room. The color did take a little getting used to, however, I felt very safe with security on patrol outside of the hotel. Across my trip and four different hotels, I would have to say, this hotel had the most comfortable bed. Not to firm, not to soft. It was convenient to both the Mob Museum and the Freemont Street experience. The free parking and internet was awesome as well.
The only that I really didn't like was the fact, that you had to walk across the street to the actual hotel to check in. You could check out at the suites, but not in.
They kept it clean. Garage parking was convenient.
It's very very aged. The room had a musty smell and it needed some upgrading.
