10.0 Excellent
Pros: Rooms, facilities
Cons: Price of breakfast
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Had a wonderful stay. Great location to explore the rain forest of Costa Rica. Had a wonderful room with beautiful views. Fabulous bathroom with huge Jacuzzi tub and separate shower. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Great to come back to the resort after hiking, zip-lining and ATV-ing and relax at the hot springs. Will definitely return.
Cons: Breakfast was very expensive. Buffet was $25++. The bill was $125.00 for our family of 4. We shopped in town and had breakfast in the room. Was still enjoyable. There was a fridge, coffee. Would be nice to have options for breakfast.
7.9 Good
Pros: Hot springs and Spa are good.
Cons: There is no hand shower. There is only showerhead. The breakfast is too boring if you stay there several days.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I’ve been there several times now, and it continues to be my preferred plan when I need to scape from the city and spend some relaxing time. The attention is superior, they really care about the satisfaction of their guests and make each stay special. This last time I was received by Elena, Andrew, Juan Jose, and the rest of the staff that made my stay fabulous! Very very recommended!
Cons: .
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The resort was beautiful! we splurged on our trip to spend a few nights here and loved the hot springs!
Cons: It was a bit expensive, even for the area and they're not always upfront about the price of things.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: The hot springs make it worth the price. We stayed for one night, but enjoyed two days on the hot springs and pools. We absolutely loved it and recommend it.
Cons: Do not expect great food. Both breakfast and dinner were highly overpriced for the quality. Dinner was so disappointing, we spent about $100 for two entrees, one appetizer and two beers, but the ribeye was could barely edible, and the special nothing to brag about. They also offer a buffet by the pool for $39/person, which we didn't try. Breakfast for $25/person was also a rip off considering I only enjoyed the fruits and yogurt. The rest of the buffet was not great, so I barely touched it. They need to invest in better food in my opinion...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The service was superb to warrant the five star hotel rating. Upon arrival, a welcome fruit drink was provided which tasted excellent. The breakfast buffet was great with good selection of bakery, hot/ cold foods and fruits. Fresh baked cookies were still warm and tasted great. But the gem is definitely their hot pool facility located about 400 yards away. Shuttles operated every five minutes. Hotel guests can use the hot pools from the day of checkin thru the day of checkout till 10 pm. They give you a different type of wrist band upon checkout so that you can use the resort facilities till 10:00 pm. You show the band to the parking attendant at the pool facility to use the lot just cross the street for free and safe even after checkout. Tabacon thermal pools are a must when you are in Arenal. It is artificially designed to look as if real river streams, like the ones you see when river-rafting. There are small holes with cold water streaming in to control water temperature. Lockers are available to store your personal items. Sun block lotions are available at selected stands for hanging robes and towels. Towels are provided. There’s a more secluded area accessible for hotel guests only where it’s less crowded with cabanas to relax or nap.
Cons: None
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect. Best service and facilities! Amazing!
Cons: The breakfast is expensive
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Tabacon has the most beautiful series of natural hot springs and wonderful service overall. Everyone is really helpful and lovely.
7.1 Good
Pros: The thermal park was amaizing ,the room service very tasty,
Cons: The bed sheet were dirty with some spots,we asked for a plate in the room and they just forgot about it,also the breakfast very poor,a lot of sweets but no real food.if you want to try to sleep late its impossible cause you can just hear everthing around you ,a lot of noise when we went to sleep we asked them on 23pm just to make some less noise butt didnt help also they waked us at 7.00am from the noise at the hallway, cause the rooms are made very badly fonic .for the price that they charging tgey should ofer more, also the lady from the tour desk allways on the phone, she was nice but not helpfull she didnt ofer to many details of the tours cause she really didnt know,we bought a tour from her and end up with a guide that walked us in the rain for 2,5hours in arenal park just cause he liked the rain and the lunch was awfull, also the driver very .for a 5 star hotel they should check better there partners.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The surroundings were beautiful with the volcano as the backdrop. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Shuttle service to spa and springs was very timely.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Ultra luxury accommodations if u choose the Rainforest room. What makes this place extra special is the Shangri-La, the exclusive hotel guests only portion of the thermal spa. Can't wait to go there again!

Pros: Hot springs facilities are excellent, lovely rooms and hotel layout
10.0 Excellent
Pros: They made every effort to make us feel comfortable and even upgraded our room/bungalow. The thermal waters felt great and our bartender made every effort to please us. Breakfast was simple, but appetizing. I wished we had stayed here more time. Thank you!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed here in low season, which was great because we were almost alone in the hot spring area and the rooms were cheaper. On the other side, they had some construction work in the hotel and it was a bit loud. Room is very nice.
Cons: I would appreciate if there was more choice for breakfast and if they served espresso coffee.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I definitely want to come back here! Location, hot springs, the farm, good restaurant, spa, excellent service!
Cons: No door noobs for some reason on the front doors of chalets
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The property was peaceful and beautifully kept. Room was nice and comfortable.the staff was professional, helpful and knowledgeable. Breakfast was good. We loved the fresh fruit and the huevos rancheros- other items also good but would have liked just a bit more variety - some sort of meat side option would be good.
Cons: Having to give coupons to retrieve pool towels wasn’t always convenient- we went to the pool one night after the bar was closed and therefore didn’t have towels. I appreciate the desire to limit excessive towel use but would have been better to just provide pool towels in the room. More shelf or drawer space would be good in the room to unpack.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Basically Everything
Cons: There was no gym facility!!! Hopefully on my return there will be one
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was amazing. The free breakfast was very nice with both typical American and Tico fare. They gave us a free facial for staying 2 nights. I also got a great massage. The Spa is beautiful and tranquil. The hot springs were fantastic and unbelievably uncrowded. The staff were super friendly and helpful.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: his property consists of 24 individual cabanas located in beautiful gardens. Our cabana was very spacious with high sloped ceiling adding to the sense of space. It had the most superbly comfortable bed and small fridge, coffee maker, two sitting chairs and lots of hanging and shelf space for your clothes. The shower was large (but not very strong...not sure if the problem was the water pressure or shower head). There were lots of lights and electric plugs and the unit was completed by a terrace with table and chairs. There was a swimming pool and a separate area containing the hot pools (including a jacuzzi and cold pool). The pools are of varying sizes and temperature and set in more beautiful gardens. There are various outdoor areas to sit in and also a bar serving drinks and food. There is a further separate Spa area for a variety of spa treatments....again set in beautiful gardens. Finally there is a small farmyard with miniature horses, donkeys, cows, chickens etc and an wonderful organic vegetable garden...both supplying produce to the restaurant kitchen. Breakfast consisted of fruit, juices, coffee, yoghurt, cereal in addition to a small menu of cooked options. The big bonus was watching a huge variety of birds at breakfast....with fruit placed on a couple of trees by the restaurant. Also lots of other birds etc throughout the garden....very special. We took an Uber to several nearby restaurants (Red Frog was great...thanks Roy) and La Fortuna as it was quite a dark road to walk at night. The service was friendly, efficient and helpful....thanks Steven in the restaurant for bird info and Maria (Reception). We stayed six nights here in a romantic villa...a special place. We thought it was quite expensive for us (though anything good in Arenal is expensive....but it was worth it. Highly recommended!!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful place, lovely rooms, great staff
Cons: The food was not as good as expected
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything from the rooms to the staff was EXCELLENT! The staff was very helpful! Had a lovely time, thank you for everything!

Pros: After traveling for almost 2 months during honeymoon, The Springs become the highlight of our honeymoon! It started from the friendly welcoming of the staff (they know how to make you feel special!), and then the complimentary gifts (good wine and spa for both of us). The hotel property is HUGE, with so many different things you could do, that we didn't leave the area for our whole stay. It is quite and peaceful (also thanks to the offseason). The Grande Vista room was just perfect for us, the room is really spacious and clean, it has a Jacuzzi bath and huge windows watching the beautiful Arenal mountain! As for the activities - don't give up on the horse riding down in Club Rio! We had an absolutely amazing experience with our guide Nano who so friendly and kind to take beautiful pictures of us that will stay with us forever!! The Spa is also really good! The facilities are very nice and our therapists - Dayanna and Rosario were very polite and professional, making sure we feel comfortable and relaxed during the whole time and that the pressure is just as we want it. To summarize it all in one word - Perfection! I would like to say thank you to The Springs, for one of a kind experience, the whole staff who do an amazing job here and special thanks to Nano, Dayanna and Rosario!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The property is perfectly situated facing the Volcano which is in the middle of your picture window when you wake up every day. The mineral pools are fantastic, well designed with waterfalls and tons of floral. Temperatures are between 104 and 88 and all the pools have healing effects. They spared no expenses with this resort and it is 5 Star quality hotel. I highly recommend a visit and be prepared to stay there all day no need to go anywhere else.

Pros: Our cabin was spacious and comfortable. The grounds are extraordinary with gorgeous flowers and foliage everywhere... So lush that our cabin porch and deck were private. Estevan was a fabulous bartender and Alejandra was the perfect host. Breakfast was delicious and I would encourage others to have dinner there as well.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Alejandria at the front desk was exceptional! She spoke English well enough to help us with all of our questions. This was the first stop for us on a two week stay and she helped answer all of our initial questions about payments, booking tours, recommendations for restaurant. I loved that we could trust her and that she was so willing to help us.
Cons: Nothing that we didn't like! It was amazing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, cleanliness, staff - everything!
Cons: Nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Just out of town. Very nice lanscaping. Trail to river
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was not too far from Fortuna with a car and we could also have walked. Little cabins were big inside with comfortable beds. A private front patio and back patio were much appreciated. Food was very good (authentic). Vegetation was varied, immense and lush. It attracted many birds and butterflies. Staff was helpful, professional and friendly. It was a nice jungle location with a river running in the back of the property. There was an outside bar in the gazebo that was humming the first night we arrived, but quiet after that.
Cons: The cabins inside lighting could have been brighter for us older people. Where there could have been two lightbulbs there was often just one. We think maybe that we are spoiled coming out of Canada and the Costa Ricans are more controlled and thoughtful in their usage. Good for them! As we’ve continued on we have found lighting to be an ongoing issue for us. So lots of lighting, but not bright enough for us. Again we’d say that we loved this little gem tucked away in the jungle and would definitely stay here again. A special thank you to Estevan and Alejandra!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful window view, spacious bungalow, big bed. We also got voucher to the hot springs near Arenal.
Cons: It’s very loud inside when it rains ;)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in a cabin that was totally isolated and had a balcony onto the forest, incredible lying in bed and looking out. The cabin was done to a high standard, the photos don’t do it justice, we adored being there. Great value for money.
Cons: There is no pool and I think the photos could trick people into thinking there is. It’s a shame because it doesn’t need that, it’s incredible in its own right. The pool pictures refer to a spa entry but this wasn’t offered to us at any point during the stay. We weren’t desperate enough to go to call them out on it. Restaurant menu could do with some vegetarian options. I think there was only one pasta option. It’s a bit of a walk to La Fortuna, we got a taxi back which was easy and cheap though.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: The cabin was awesome.
Cons: More air conditioning needed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I would definitely stay here again! Minutes from town and minutes from la Fortuna waterfall. The staff was amazing and so helpful! Needless to say we rented the villa and it was amazing!!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I cannot say enough about our stay at the Volcano Lodge and Springs. We booked it because the rainy season rates were hard to pass up and because 95% of previous guests rated it Excellent. The room rates were so low that I wondered if the ratings could be true...but I have never had more good things to share about a hotel experience! We stayed in a superior room with an amazing view of Arenal from our porch. The property is designed so that the view from your patio makes you feel like you are at a private villa. All we saw before us was Arenal and lush vegetation. There were people next to us but we never saw or heard them. You couldn't even see where the cars were parked. It was almost total solitude. The room was attractive and clean. The beds were comfortable. The shower was always warm. Our room was only a short walk from the main pool and mineral springs which was a pleasant surprise. Others will have to walk further but the grounds are so nice that the walk is like a stroll in a garden. I read some reviews that the breakfast was adequate but nothing special. I have no idea what they were talking about! To me it was a wonderful daily brunch. We stayed 4 nights and looked forward to each morning. Most food items stayed the same but how can you complain about having fresh bananas, pineapple, papaya, and watermelon, three different breads for toasting, pancakes, scrambled eggs, rice and beans, sweet plantains, lunch meat and cheese, a waffle station and made to order egg station with 6 toppings for omelets, OJ and Mango / Banana juice, and coffee to pick from? There were also two breakfast breads each day that varied and one or two different Costa Rican hot items each day that included small sausages, chicken or sausages in a creamy tomato sauce, and several types of what they called "hash"…potato based one time and green bean based another. To top it off, the restaurant has a great view of Arenal and the pool / mineral springs area and an attentive and cheerful staff. They even attached their old bananas to a nearby tree each morning to attract birds! The pool was clean and the mineral springs area very relaxing. They just added a second hot springs and bar. The grounds are filled with beautiful plants and fruit trees with a running / walking nature trail that they are just getting going. It was a bit confusing but we loved it…especially watching the intricate world of leaf cutting ants! Bottom line...you will love this place!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great pool, amazing staff, very clean. Good location.
Cons: Wifi was weak if some places, but not a big deal!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent with omelet bar and waffles fresh to order. Plenty of fresh fruit as well. Rooms were comfortable with a nice deck to sit outside. Hot springs were set up nicely allowing privacy and comfort.
Cons: Less changing lights in the hot springs and on property. Having to wear a wristband was a bit uncomfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had three perfect days in the hotel. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. Access to the thermal pools is great and the room with the private pool was a dream. We even had our private hummingbird in the garden. If there had been more time we would have prolonged our stay. Also the breakfast was delicious.
Cons: Strangely there are guests who use their time in this hotel to watch TV half of the night way too loud.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous property
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotsprings, rooms and food was amazing! Best location to travel around Arsenal.
Cons: Honestly I can’t come up with anything that needed improvement. Fantastic!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Our room faced the volcano (most, if not all, do) as well as a park-like area that provided lots of natural animal entertainment. The staff was friendly and helpful, and our room was very clean and thoughtfully laid out. The pool and thermal springs areas were clean and well tended, and they were as discreet as possible with the repairs to the pool deck during our stay. The breakfast buffet was excellent, and the birds provided a floor show nearby. We had dinner in the restaurant one night, which was excellent and reasonably priced. This property was one of our best on our trip. It is close to many other attractions in the area, and the staff was very helpful in suggesting activities in La Fortuna and surrounding areas. We will definitely stay again when we come back.
Cons: It would have been nice if some kind of pool towel exchange could have been arranged so one did not have a damp towel constantly after the first use.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The grounds were amazing! So well manicured and a wide variety of flowers and trees. The rooms are comfortable and we loved having a patio.
Cons: When turning on the a/c unit, there was quite a musty smell in the room. Once we got that aired out, our stay was very nice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is set in stunning scenery and the grounds are fantastic it has been very well thought through. Very friendly helpful staff and easy to find. They served some delicious cocktails and they were always made to perfection! I'd recommend this hotel to anyone.
Cons: The only thing that let it down was That the food wasn't really that great. We had different steaks both nights and both times they were over cooked and tough. The breakfast is a buffet and again could just use a bit more attention.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: the thermal waters, the gardens, the restaurant...
Cons: the toilet windows could not be open (can get too wet after shower, etc.)

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was spotless, roomy, practical and super comfy. Pool and jacuzzi nice and clean. Nice place to walk around with tons of flowers, farm animals and birds around.
Cons: Stuff did not speak much English. Before our check out we figured that they want us to pay in cash. That was not mentioned in the description of the place. Took me a while until they accepted credit card payment. Not the fault of the facility, but first evening we did not have electricity for a while and next day we did not have water.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, very nice venue with lots of nature and nice views on the volcano. Really appreciate the pool table and the jacuzzi, they are perfect after hiking for a full day. The hotel is a bit outside La Fortuna, but the neighbourhood has restaurants and shops, which is pretty handy. The room is modern and very comfortable overall.
Cons: The only flip side, we could not pay by card on the premises, only cash.

Pros: The cabins were well equipped and very nicely decorated. Beautiful gardens and very well kept. The view of mount Arenal was extraordinary
Cons: One day there was a breakfast buffet which was fine, although cheese and vegetables would be a good addition. The next morning we were served out of a morning menu. That didn’t work out so much for us.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location with a great restaurant
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast is very good with many many options. The hotel installations and gardens are excellent. The room is very comfortable and the bathroom is big. The hotel is outside the city center but very nearby.
Cons: Some rooms are located just in front of the entrance of the hotel. I didn't like it because it was near the entrance of cars and tourist buses. A bit noisy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Romantic location full of green and well-built private places. Outstanding breakfast with a great variety of food to choose from. Perfect room service and a delicious wood fired oven-baked pizza. The prices of the food and drinks you can buy are very fair (considering overall Costa Rica prices). Staff is extremely friendly and spaces are impeccably clean. They even have bidets in the bathrooms, by the way.
Cons: Could have had bigger TVs in the rooms, cable channel quality is not that good (but it isn't anywhere in Costa Rica) and the Wi-Fi connection is somewhat spotty, depending on where you are. No phone signal anywhere on the property except at the reception if you have Claro as a provider.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The swimming pool, the room with big showers and everthing was clean and fresh.
Cons: The services from the reception to the restaurants was great.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are fantastic, staff is awesome best value for the money hands down. Great food as well. Stay here you will not regret it. The views are stunning!

Pros: Everything was amazing . Facilities , breakfast and also the staff .
Arenal Observatory Lodge & Spa - La Fortuna - Bedroom

9.2 Excellent (898 reviews)
AED 544+
Overview Reviews
Located in La Fortuna, Arenal Observatory Lodge & Spa is in a national park, within a 15-minute drive of Lake Arenal and Costa Rica Sky Adventures. Featured amenities include luggage storage, laundry facilities, and a safe deposit box at the front desk. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The grounds were amazing and we loved that we had access to the National Park trails. The Jacuzzi was a nice treat after a long day of hiking. The views were breath-taking! Access to other activities was relatively easy but the roads are not great. Town was about a 30 minute drive away. Nice breakfast buffet provided free of charge!
Cons: It would be nice to have screens on the front doors as well so you could have both the patio door (which had a screen) and front door open to allow a cross-breeze. The room became a bit stuffy and buggy during the day without this. Also it would be good if t pool was heated to allow swimming year round. The prices for food at the restaurant were expensive. The Happy Hour (2 for 1) would be better if they allowed for 2 different drinks vs. 2 of the same kind of drink. Finally a shuttle to town that ran even just 3 times a day would be a great perk!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved having so many hikes/walks to do right on the property and a very good restaurant as well. It was so nice having nature and animals outside our door each day. The staff was warm, welcoming, helpful and friendly. There were plenty of activities to do on the grounds for all ages: pool, foosball/game room, checkers, books, TVs in the main buildings and a hot tub.
Cons: Be aware that the Lodge is a 20-25 minute drive from La Fortuna up a somewhat rough dirt road. If you have your own vehicle it's easy to get to and from, but without a bit more challenging. There are taxis that cost $30 each way or a shuttle 3x/day from the lodge.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: One of the most amazing hotels that I've been to! We had a room with a volcano view - truly beautiful. We also tried the jacuzzi (very nice!), hiked every day, saw many animals - to sum it all it was a wonderful stay and I highly recommend this hotel to everyone.
Cons: Coffee for breakfast was not too tasty (I expected something better than an instant one in a country known for its coffee), also the food in the restaurant is way overpriced and to be honest - we didn't like it. Not so many vegetarian options, no vegan ones at all. Desserts were very good though.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great views from the room, very comfortable beds, great hot power shower
9.0 Excellent
Pros: restaurant was good but a bit pricey the spa was gorgeous The front desk staff was amazing with arranging my tours
Cons: The spa service was good but seemed rushed. the cabin was far from the lodge, a shuttle was needed. the free tour was okay because it was free.. but it took 2.5 hours which was a lot of walking to see and learn very little. The guide was really bored with his job though he did try to crack a couple of silly jokes.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location! The best volcano views indeed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful trails and extremely helpful staff
Cons: No vegan menu options
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very beautiful and amazing scenery and wildlife
Cons: Been here 4 times in last 8 years and was never able to shower either time. There was either no water or this time only hot water (would have been happy with just cold)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: - Great Location: You can‘t be closer to the volcano than at this place - Nice Trails to walk and the free Morning Walk was nice, too - nice and friendly staff - very good breakfast with lots of homemade specialities
Cons: - The whole complex would need some renovation, everything is a bit old and not very modern - the food in the restaurant in the evening was not good. Many convenient products and not very tasty
10.0 Excellent
Cons: There should be more lights on the way to the frog pond. We kinda got scare because it was to dark, so we turn around haha. But thats the only thing, the rest was awesome! Will come back for sure
9.4 Excellent
Cons: Prices or food were a bit expensive...we had a car so we drove to La Fortuna
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, views and surroundings were fabulous. Staff were ultra helpful.
Cons: It would have been helpful to have a small desk and chair in the room for using computer. Morning nature walk was a bit disappointing, as guide only occasionally stopped to point something out. Food was only fair.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very helpfull and friendly staff at the réception / Good breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was incredible. The staff are amazing, they are always being available to help you with everything. The place is beautiful and their location is the best.
Cons: I like everything.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff were lovely - thanks so much! They make you feel like part of the family. A hidden little quiet paradise just out of La Fortuna. Very clean, very comfortable and very homely. The breakfast was delicious and by far the best we had during our journeys. I enjoyed watching the birds and even the odd agouti with my morning coffee. Perfect.
Cons: The only thing worth knowing, which didn't bother us, is that it is a little out of the centre - we think this is a good thing. When we wanted to go to the centre it was a safe comfortable 15-20m walk. Taxi of course also possible.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect - but the service? Incredible! Do yourself a favor and stay here if you’re looking for a relaxing hub for all activities around La Fortuna. We very much enjoyed every second of it and the personnel was hands down the friendliest and best we encountered during our trip in Costa Rica.
Cons: There is nothing to complain about at Tangara!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great view on volcano Arenal, good and delicious breakfast, very friendly staff, close walking distance to La Fortuna
Cons: Our room was a little dark (dark wooden walls), no safe box in the room, but in the back-office. Loud AC.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It’s nice and quiet. You feel like you are in the rainforest because of the wild life. Staff are nice and accommodating. Breakfast is a good value. Comfortable and clean.
Cons: Bathroom left something to be desired. Just a small bar of soap for toiletries. Internet in the rooms was slow and spotty
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My family loved the property. It is a tiny bit outside of town which means that it is very peaceful & quiet (except the birds singing). We had a car but it’s relatively easy to get around if you do not rent a car. It’s about a 5 minute drive to town. You may need to get a taxi to go into town if you do not want to walk too far. The tours pick you up at your hotel. The hosts are lovely people & so are the staff. Breakfast includes large portions and is made to order. We were very comfortable here.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very clean, the staff super friendly with a terrific breakfast included! Property fairly close to downtown la fortuna.
Cons: A little noisy, close to route 142, and the room we had smelled like sewer. The bed was hard!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice room. Yummy breakfast. Pool refreshing after morning tours! Lots of interesting birds seen in the garden. About a 10 min. walk into center of town. Local soda and mini-market 2-3 minutes away. They will call for a cab, only a couple minutes before it arrives.
Cons: Nothing!

Pros: David and his family were great hosts. The hotel is well maintained. The rooms are clean and the pool is serviced regularly. It's a good location, about 1 mi out of the city center, but with multiple restaurants and a super market nearby. The Red Frog Coffee shop (little yellow building next door) is a great place; try the empanada. They also offer use of a communal kitchen that has the necessary cooking tools. David can also help you book taxis, tours and transfers.

Pros: We really enjoyed our stay here, the staff were very nice, friendly and helpful, the hotel is small-scale and atmospheric, and the location is fine for tours and travel. There is a fitness area, you can use bikes to get around, and staff are always willing to help and offer ideas. Great value!
Cons: No negative comments here, all good.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: Gabby, the owner was great, very friendly and always helpful. the 2 cafes in the front were excellent and we ate there everyday. It's an easy walk to the beach and restaurants. Bank with ATM is across the street. So, all in all, very convenient and good value for the money.
Cons: there is a club on the other side of the the street that played very loud music on friday and saturday until at least 3pm. Sounded like it was in the hotel! Not good!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast, nice clean rooms fully equipped. Very friendly and helpful staff. They organized a baby bed for us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was far better than we expected. Beautiful mini resort-like sanctuary to come back to after touring the sights. Staff were amazing and kind. Even let us use the pool etc. far past check out time while we awaited our shuttle. Would reccomend and would stay again in a second. A real gem!

Arenal Manoa Hotel is a beautiful place to rest, relax and enjoy the marvelous view of Arenal Volcano. Surrounded by gardens, pastures and animals, our rooms have been designed so that each one offers you a panoramic view of the volcano. Our visitors can take advantage of ourspacious gardens for walking and meditation as well as the opportunities to see the daily operations of a typical Costa Rican farm.
5.8 Okay
Cons: Too Expensive for low season. And didnt offer reasonable rates and not flexible early check out. I paid $700 for 4 days. Ridiculous
9.7 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is located perfectly, in the middle of the main attractions. We loved that basically each room was completely private, surrounded by luxurious vegetation. Everything in the room and on the property is natural, very little plastic and nothing looks cheap. The hot springs are awesome and one could relax there after a day of exploration. The property is maintained extremely well, it is spot clean, staff is extremely friendly. We got complememtary fresh fruits platter 2 days in a row. The coffee in the room is awesome. If you need something and you call front desk they will send what you need in less than 5 minutes. The restaurant is really great, fine dining in the area. Fresh food for all meals with basically everything natural. Another reviewer called this property "a hidden gen" and I completely agree. The pictures on most of the websites don't do real justice to the place.
Cons: They did not have a gym.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was phenomenal! Staff was very friendly and spoke great English! Very appreciative of how well your grounds are maintained and your view outside our room was spectacular......will never forget it.
Cons: Beds and pillows were very uncomfortable
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location, overall grounds, and dining were super.
Cons: The bed was a little hard and the bathroom had no way to vent moisture so everything stayed wet for a very long time.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Value. Cleanliness.
Cons: Room is small
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location is good, the environment and gardens are really nice.. the room itself is a bit simple and without any inspiring decoration.. the breakfast is good and the pools and the spa are great!!
Cons: The beds It is simple and without small details that can make you feel great in your vacation..
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful resort. Tranquil setting. spacious room with wonderful view of Arenal volcano. Attentive staff. Very good food.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Unbeatable views of Volcan Arenal. Wonderful pools and grounds. Great restaurant. Large clean air-conditioned rooms.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Service snd location. Quality of food was exceptionsl.
Cons: Pool size could have been bigger.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the hotel! Too bad we only stayed one night because they were booked. The photos in the internet does no justice. The staff was very nice and everything was very clean. The room was large and it felt like a luxury hotel. The garden was very pretty and very well kept. The view of the volcano was beautiful. My daughter and her husband got a massage at the spa and they said the setting was beautiful in the lush gardens next to a river. The hot spring pool are drained and new water is put in in the morning. Loved everything about the hotel. Only regret is that we didn't stay there more days. We went the next day to another hotel that was more expensive and was not as nice.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent landscaped gardens, friendly staff, good quality local bar food. Great breakfast offering.
Cons: Restaurant menu was quite pricey and wasn’t very representative of local cuisine
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is great. Rooms are big. Wifi is solid. Rooms have an A/C and minibar. They even do room service. We had the superior site that gave the view of Arenal Volcano right outside our balcony. Overall comfortable stay. Facilities such as the hot springs and pools in the resort are great too, off-season it's quite empty. The restaurant is also in the resort and the food is decent. Breakfast is alright, nothing special.
Cons: We had construction workers outside our balcony that made privacy an issue, especially given the rooms used the floor to ceiling windows. This made it a bit of a letdown. I'd recommend the hotel avoid this given we're paying good money to have these rooms with great views.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Hot springs, swim up bar, fantastic grounds and views. Very clean and comfortable.
Cons: Thought the resteraunt prices were expensive for basic wines($35 and beers $7 for 330ml). Ordered steaks at $ 35 each and they were undercooked (asked for medium, no blood and they were bloody) and a lot of gristle. Accept something has to pay for the stunning grounds and location. Hot springs and swim up bar was fantastic to relax in the evening.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Free shuttle within the facility
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Pools and slides, plus the amazing volcano view!
Cons: Rooms were simple - could have been slightly updated. But very comfortable.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: The hotel property was tropically lush, well maintained and beautiful. They had a butterfly enclosure, a rare red frog enclosure, water, crocodiles and nice paved walkways. Wonderful view of the Arenol volcano. Our room was very large with a big closet and bath. It also had a front and back door with beautiful views for morning coffee. Breakfast buffet was good with a big variety of items and nice patio to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Cons: The beds were extremely hard, I had to lay out all my pillows and sleep on them.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Pools, breakfast, tours
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice place. Good privacy even in shared houses with private verandas. Lots of pools and other stuff to do. Great breakfast. Restaurant doesn't do takeout and pool bar, which does, was very slow, though otherwise ok. And technically they ban food from the outside. So with a small baby going to sleep early, dinner was a problem. Thankfully there are minifridges (no microwaves or coffee pots, though) and no one enforces the ban. Also water slides, while fun, are a bit dangerous - the pools are too shallow for them to be used by adults without bruising an elbow or back
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful facility at the beautiful place
Cons: Parking is not the best. The room number is hard to find on the street at the night time.
7.9 Good
Pros: Good value, great location, really close to the Main Street in la fortuna. lovely hot springs. The views of the volcano and the property itself is stunning. The grounds are beautifully maintained.
Cons: Rooms a little dated, no WiFi in rooms, pools quite crowded with day pass guests
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great views of the valley and the mountains We could see and hear several different varieties of birds sitting in our balcony Decent breakfast in the morning Helpful staff
Cons: $50/night for kids. Most hotels don't have extra charge for kids, the one's that have are $10-$25.. $50 is a bit too much, especially with no information upfront Registration Staff was very helpful, but did not have a lot of information outside of Monteverde. Ordering anything to the room would take a long time to get. Concierge/Travel Desk was under-staffed. One of the person at the desk was rude and not eager to help. Other person was very helpful.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved all the things to do on the property. We hiked to the observation area, the lake, visited the crocodile, butterflies, turtles, horses, and even the ants. Breakfast was amazing. The hot springs area was really nice and had plenty of different options to accommodate many guests.
Cons: The hinge on the shower was falling off. When we checked out, they told us to wait two minutes while they checked the room. At least 15 minutes later, they hadn't said anything to us. I asked, and apparently it was cleared several minutes ago and no one told us.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful grounds and views from our room. Wildlife like Toucans, Green Parrots and Iguanas was beautiful.
Cons: The biggest negative for this resort is the lack of WiFi in the rooms, even the premium rooms. Internet was only available in the restaurant, reception or the bar/pool areas. You need a shuttle to come to these areas if you were in the premium area,
8.8 Excellent
Pros: View of volcano was beautiful. The thermal springs were relaxing. We had a good time.
Cons: Some of the prices were hiked up. They made a mistake with our billing, so pay attention when checking out.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous grounds. Villas are fantastic. So roomy and comfortable. Love the complimentary mini bar and daily breakfast. Plunge pool is wonderful.
Cons: No self parking because space is very limited. They park your car for free, but it can take a while to retrieve it (30 min). Not sure how they could improve on that b/c they have to park the cars far away.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was top notch, very professional and friendly.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Room with jaccuzzi The best bed and pillow I never had in a 5stars hotel Service The vinoteca restaurant to try different wine Amor loco restaurant food was very good
Cons: Food in vinoteca and asia restaurant are not at the level of expectation and price Caution you need 15mn to get your car when you ask for it. Just need to know it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We LOVED everything! Nayara Springs is the most relaxing place I'd ever been to. The staff are the best! always helping, smiling, doing the unexpected. They will drive you around, show you the place, help you look for animals (howler monkeys, sloths, toads, frogs...) and just anything you want! The spa is so natural. you're getting a massage in front of the wild forests! The morning yoga was one of the most powerful yoga I've tried. Anna, the yoga instructor, made sure to always help us remember that yoga is an inner experience... It was very refreshing to start everyday this way. Almost forgot to mention the fresh ice cold coconuts after the yoga, again, in front of the forests. The room was perfect too, of course. Almost everything is double, everything is large and top-comfort, and the last but not least - the balcony with the PRIVATE HOT SPRING!!! we didn't wanna leave the balcony, to not miss any animal who came to visit - we had wild boar, jesus christ basilisk and Coati! We also liked the cafe and the restaurant, especially Amor Loco.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The above
Cons: I could hear my neighbors. They were separate buildings but sound traveled.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I don't even know where to start but as a summary: the reason of the one night stay was to celebrate my gf birthday and I am still amazed by the outstanding customer service and the level of detail EACH employee has. When we arrived, people next to the entrance door wished her a happy birthday, when we were having dinner, the waiter brought us a piece of cake with a candel and then two more waiters plus another two guys singing live music in the restaurant.. sang her the HBD song.. I did not even ask for this but seriously this has been the best detail I have ever experienced in a hotel. Also the food, villas, jacuzzis, special room decoration, snacks, mini bar.. They were all amazing. We will definitively come back.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: the place was absolutely beautiful and extremely comfortable. the entire staff was extremely good, in every respect. the place had a wonderful ambience. there were several restaurants, all very nice, with food that ranged between very good and outstanding.

Pros: We loved this hotel. They were so kind to me and my family. The room was a great size for my family. We loved using the pool and walking around their garden. It had a great view of Arenal. Eugenia was really helpful and showed us all around the grounds of the hotel. We felt very happy about our stay at Roca Negra and would highly recommend you to stay there.

Pros: The deck was awesome. Super helpful staff. Great kitchen. Would stay again

Pros: We loved our spacious cabin which had a private veranda with a fabulous view of the Arenal Volcano and plenty of interesting birds. The on-site nature trail is definitely worth doing as well. It was also great to have a fridge in the room. Good location to get to the National Park and also to the hot springs at Tabacon(we walked to the free ones).
Cons: Be aware the hotel doesn’t serve dinner and the walkable options for restaurants are a bit limited.

Pros: Everything was clean and felt upmarket, the location is a 10 minute or so drive from the center of la fortuna, there is access to shops just outside the hotel, the staff are incredibly friendly and attentive to requests and helpful when booking tours. We stayed here as part of our honeymoon and it was phenomenal.
