Pros: Not much. Rate was cheap, especially for a one way rental but I figure I was doing them a favor getting the car from city center to the airport.
Cons: Reserved a compact and got a Ford Mustang. Not small and yet not easy to get two suitcases into. And the car rides incredibly rough.
And I drove it 25 miles but had to put 3 gallons of gas into it to fill it before return. Either tank was not full when I picked it up or the car gets 8 mpg.

Pros: Staff was friendly and the pick-up/return process was easy and convenient.
Cons: The car was extremely dirty and sticky. The seats were stained and the interior clearly hadn't been cleaned in quite some time.

Cons: There were no cars when I went to pick my car up and there was no timeline as to when cars would be made available-- despite having made a reservation in advance. The woman at the desk was unhelpful and I ended up waiting for two hours past my reservation time for a car.

Waited 40 minutes for car
Pros: Drop off was painless
Cons: I waited 40 minutes for my car, despite the fact that I had an appointment. One person in line in front of me took 10 minutes - no problem. Then another half hour with no explanation. Repeated requests for the car had no effect. I'll never use Budget again.

Pros: The car was very nice.
Cons: We arrived at 11:15 am to pick up my rental, which was booked for noon. Without saying anything, the representative printed out the contract for me to sign, which showed $392 as the price. The price I booked was $215 for a 24-hour rental. I asked why it was so much, and she said "You're early, so you went over the 24 hours." This is ridiculous, as I hadn't done anything yet. I said I would have happily waited until noon--just 45 minutes--to take the car had she notified me that it would cost an additional $150 for an extra hour of the rental. She actually didn't speak at all while she was processing the rental. We just stood there waiting for her to tell us what to do. Terrible customer service.
She did, finally, tell us that if we arrived the following day by 11:16 am then we would not be charged. We arrived at 10:30 to be safe, and were assured that we would not incur additional hourly charges.

Cons: Went to pick up van i rented on line for one way trip bringing household items to new home in Florida. arranged on-line for a panel van reservation made no problem.
arrived to pick up van and only passanger vans avail, rude obnaxious stall told me they dont rent panel vans for one way and told to walk to another location in brooklyn or manhattan.they would NOT call other locations ,aid they didnt have a phone to call "outside" no one offered to use their phone. asked them to check "online" for me and they said they dont have internet access.
i asked for manager.no manager and no call as promised.
I wil NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER USE THEM AGAIN .

i reserved a compact car, but when i arrived, the maneger said they do NOT have cars except a Ford explore. and there were three families waiting cars there. they treated customers and messed our plan.

Cons: The staff at this location when I picked up the car was super uncommunicative and unfriendly. Didn't explain charges.
Also if you don't refill the car all the way, it's $10 per gallon for them to refill it, which is highway robbery

Poor customer service
Pros: The car itself was great, very clean, comfortable, and new.
Cons: The service was appalling. I went to the Budget at 333 Adams St in Brooklyn, and there was one guy in training helping about 5 customers. He was distracted with the phones and fax, so it took ages to get the car. Then, knowing I was stuck in traffic and wouldn't be able to return the car on time, I tried calling to extend my rental and got automated messages throughout, no real person, no ability to ask the cost of extending a rental. When I finally got through to a receptionist she was unhelpful in providing me with alternatives, and I ended up getting charged for an entire additional day because I had to return the car an hour after the location closed due to traffic. Very disappointing experience overall.

Cons: We made a reservation. Went to pick up the car and they had no cars. At least 20 other people were there with reservations as well and yet found themselves in the same boat. It was a holiday weekend and not getting a car ruined ours. Plus we paid in advance for the Kayak insurance which was pointless because we never even got a car.

Pay online with debit, get denied at the pickup lo
Cons: Online booking allowed me to use a debit card to pay for my car rental. When I went to pick up the car, I brought the card that I payed with and the employee said I couldn't rent without a credit card. I feel pretty strongly that the online booking process should account and correct for this. My trip was torpedoed because of this and I'm waiting for a refund that I hopefully get by the end of the month.

Cons: The only disappointing factor was just the cost -- it's always absurdly expensive to rent a car in NYC, and this was no exception.

waste of time and money; not safe
Pros: The car I rented from Hertz Brooklyn ended up breaking down in the middle of nowhere, so I called Emergency Roadside Assistance and they told me to take a cab to another location to get a new rental. They told me I will be fully reimbursed for cab fare. The positive is that I received a speedy apology from Hertz Brooklyn and they said they would zero out my rental and fees for the problems I faced, but I am still owed money for my cab fare so I need to complain to Customer Service.
Cons: I do not recommend using Hertz Brooklyn. I was put in a potentially dangerous situation and my time and my money was wasted.
Hertz Brooklyn clearly doesn't maintain their cars on a regular basis. The Chevy Spark I rented was dirty on the outside and it smelled like cigarettes and had garbage left on the inside. I took a day trip upstate and on the way back the car overheated. Looking under the hood, the coolant was leaking. If these cars were maintained on a regular basis, the car wouldn't be so dirty and there wouldn't be a coolant leak.
I had to call Emergency Roadside Assistance. They coordinated a tow truck and told me to take cab to another location to pickup a new car; they informed me that the cab fare would be reimbursed in full when I return it to Hertz Brooklyn. I found out the cab fare would be over $100, so I called Emergency Roadside Assistance again and told them the cab would be over $100. Even after hearing that price, they confirmed and assured me that the cab fare would be reimbursed in full.
The new car from Hertz Stewart International Airport was great. Returning the car to Hertz Brooklyn was a mess. The employee, Erica, informed me that she could only reimburse up to $15 in cab fare. Also, she charged me $37.30 for calling the Emergency Roadside Assistance number. When trying to argue with her, she told me that if I have any issues, I need to call Customer Service. She almost didn’t give me a receipt, but I asked for one and it seemed like an inconvenience to her to print it.
Later that day, Kenny from Hertz Brooklyn called me. He apologized and told me he'd zero out my rental and fees, but informed me that he could not reimburse me for the cab fare because it cost more than the rental, but he might be able to get me credit for Hertz car rentals that would be equivalent to the cab fare I paid and he’d let me know within 48 hours.
I don't want Hertz credit for my cab fare reimbursement. I don't want credit from an establishment that clearly does not maintain their cars—I do not feel safe using Hertz Brooklyn rental cars. I still need to call Customer Service to fight for my cab fare.

Cons: This was a personal rental with a personal credit card, but it was added to my separate business account, which must have been a result of matching on drivers license alone. I sent an email about this but am still waiting to hear back.
The car needed an alignment and new brake pads.

Cons: I reserved a Lincoln MKZ and ended up with a Lincoln MKT which is smaller than what I needed. Customers should get what they pay for, not what you guys have available. It's very frustrating because I rented that car for a specific reason and had to alter my plans to accommodate what you gave me instead of what I reserved.

Cons: It took us about 30 minutes to find a gas station near the Avis office. It wash rush hour with traffic, one way roads and 'no u turn' signs. I wish at least there was some information about the closest working gas station for people who are new in ny.

Cons: Pick up took time but to be expected I guess in a busy brooklyn location. There was only one agent, a second employee would have helped. Otherwise a good experience.
Pros: The person that helped me with my checking (I think her name was Jessica) really went the extra mile the car that I received as my first option had a funky smell to it, she wasted to time in getting me in to another vehicle. One that actually really helped me out on my move back to FL, I've told all my friends about my experience with National and def will keep them as my first choice for my car rental needs!

Pros: I was really impressed with the people working at the pick up center. Not only did they accommodate me seamlessly, they went above and beyond in assisting me and the other customers there during stressful pre-holiday pickups. The team was EXTREMELY professional and went above and beyond. Not what I was expecting in downtown brooklyn!
