Pros: Gorgeous hotel in a great location of Santo Domingo. The rooms were beautiful and spacious and the staff/customer service was the best I have seen in a long time.
Cons: The two main negatives were the food and bathroom. They claim no one has ever had this issue before and they seemed pretty shocked at the situation so I will give them the benefit of the doubt, but the showers that we experienced did not drain. The first room they gave is the shower flooded the bathroom. They were kind enough to give us a new took but the next morning when we went to shower again the same thing happened. As for the breakfast. It was served cold as if they scraped the leftovers of a previous guests plate onto a new plate to serve it to us so that it wouldn't be thrown out.

Pros: The polite and efficient staff, the cleanliness, the size of the room, the modern state of the hotel
Cons: There is no central air conditioning system, each room is equipped with its own air conditioner, which is turned on by a thermostat. As a result, there is no quiet, there are cycles of noise (when the air condition is on) and quiet (when it's off)
Pros: The hotel is beautiful inside! Everything was very clean and it could easily have been a hotel in the US.
Cons: When we called to get directions, the staff was not very helpful so it took us awhile to find the hotel.
It is a well-managed hotel.
Pros: I cannot help but compare this hotel with the Barcelo, which is located on the same street. At the Marriott, the rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff is agreeable, polite and efficient. The stay is totally different from the 'Barcelo experience'.
Cons: I only wish they had a little more choice at the restaurant, although I really recommend the steak. It was fabulous!

Cons: La piscina no tenía calefacción. A nuestro gusto, pasamos todo el día demasiado frío para usarlo.
Cons: In my last stay I ordered somme food to my room and after 50 minutes I called again and I had to place my order again. The laidy forgot. The hotel was totally occupied this could be the reason but it does not justifies a bad service
Pros: I Iked everything. The staff and facilities.
Cons: I did not like that I had to pay extra for my fiancé to visit

Pros: I loved how luxurious the hotel was. Everyone as accommodating and you felt like you were in a chiq location. The pool is amazing and the views are wonderful.
Cons: You can hear everything through the walls. It was difficult to feel like it was intimate.
Pros: The rastrillo architecture, excellent facilities and service, and outstanding Colonial Zone location.
Cons: The breakfast buffet was expensive.
Pros: I am so happy to find a hotel of this caliber in Santo Domingo.....I will return again and again! The food, the service, the room, location for walking, everything was perfect.
Cons: There is nothing to not like. Ok maybe a small desk in the room would be nice....but there is a business center.
Pros: No complaints...everything is perfect.
Pros: The architecture and plant integration.
Pros: Beautifullly decorated modern hotel! My wife and I were pleasantly surprised by this beautiful hotel in the colonial section of Santo Domingo.
Staff was very attentive. No complaints here.

Pros: The view was outstanding and the staff were very attentive. The facility was nice, but there were a few issues with the conference rooms, electricity and water issues.
Cons: The rooms were just ok. The decor is very basic and one of my colleagues complained that she felt a bit claustrophobic in her room. We tried to hook up the computer to the tv via a cord-- and the hotel only has one remote control (for the entire hotel) that changes the inputs on the tv.
The prices for the buffets/food were ridiculous. $35 for lunch plus 28% in taxes. This includes the 18% ITBIS and does not include tip.
Pros: Good service
Location is close to historic center
Cons: Room was some short
Taxi from/to airport is $40 (30 minutes)
Pros: Hi! , We love everything in there, we feeling like our own home,.
Cons: Oh! the meals, you have to make some changes in the menu, like
Dominican foods sometimes.

Cons: We had a junior suite on the main floor. The traffic noise woke us up on several occasions. Get a room on a higher floor
TV was almost un watchable due to problems with the color. I reset it to the factory settings but no luck.
AC was either full on or off. No in-between.
Pros: gorgeous building, interior, and courtyard design. it really is unique and mazelike; i was smitten. (i'm from california so i'm floored by anything > 100 years old.)
décor is like a regal columbus-fanboy/conquistador-chic, the zealotry of which i found somehow both zinn-esquely uncomfortable and museum-patron aesthetically pleasing.
our room had tons of space, an antechamber with a few couches, a great bathroom (jet tub!, separate shower, separate toilet, bidet), an adorable relic of a pc with a 3.5" floppy drive, decent wifi (got dropped a few times but it was reasonably fast compared to what i'd seen in other cafés... just don't plan on playing an fps, etc.).
we had the 5-crown room which i wouldn't normally spring for; there just wasn't vacancy in other rooms: it was the perfect hideaway to recharge and relax after walking around all day. so comfy :3
the location is perfect for exploring the zona colonial.
my bf appreciated the a/c, which was very effective.
Cons: nothing too bad, but staff was just okay, not super attentive and not particularly helpful when i had issues, i wouldn't consider them outright rude or anything though.
-- i asked for a first aid kit or a bandage etc (in spanish) when my bf cut his foot and they just kinda shrugged and stared, so i just had to go outside and look for a pharmacy.
-- i asked for the balcony door to be unlocked and they just never got around to it for the entire duration of my stay, etc.
the free/not-free breakfast debacle: like another reviewer, i also was kind of confused when at checkin they said i had to pay for breakfast (the description said it was included). i chalked this up to an inaccurate description sent to the various hotelerie sites, and just assumed i'd pay for it a subset of the days, but then at checkout they didn't charge me for any of my breakfasts... so eh? if i had known it was actually included instead of hearing conflicting information i would have eaten breakfast there 100% of the time and saved some money : \
a lot of these might just be cultural differences, which is why i wanna reiterate that it wasn't too bad... i just wouldn't call it amazing service as i'd heard described in other reviews.
Located in Colonial Zone, this hotel is within a 10-minute walk of Regional Museum of Archaeology, Parque Colon, and Cathedral of Santo Domingo. Alcazar de Colon and National Palace are also within 1 mi (2 km).
Pros: Good breakfast, IF AND ONLY IF you get the free breakfast in your reservation. Otherwise, it's $10/person + taxes (18%) and that is way too expensive.
Cons: 1. No refrigerator
2. Depending on the package, you MAY or MAY not get breakfast. The first three days I paid $113/night and I had breakfast. I renewed a 4th day for $140 and I didn't get the breakfast.
3. For 2 people, they only give 1 complimentary bottle of water. Each additional bottle is $1.20.
For me the deal-breaker was the breakfast and the lack of refrigerator.
I understand that the last day I mistakenly selected the wrong reservation (which had no breakfast), but considering that I had spent over $500 for 4 days, the least they could do was throw in the free breakfast.
Due to the sneaky way they hide the breakfast option, I will not be staying there again.

Pros: Well located, friendly helpful staff, clean room. Food at restaurant was good, safe for tourists. AC was good and balcony was nice.
Cons: No elevator, took a tad long to check out.
Hotel Conde de Peñalba features a rooftop terrace and puts you just steps from Parque Colon and Cathedral of Santo Domingo. For a bite to eat, guests can check out El Conde, which serves international cuisine and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Other highlights at this Colonial hotel include a bar/lounge, and rooms offer deep soaking tubs and refrigerators.
They also advertise free WiFi. It took us 2 hours to get connected to WiFi in which the staff was unwilling to assist. I had a medical procedure done and was extremely exhausted from dealing with staff and their lack of help. I really would like a REFUND because this visit was pure HELL.
Cons: They advertised free water and only provided 2 8oz water bottles per room in a country were drinking tap water is not advised. We had to request more water in which they only gave 1 more bottle.
I ended up having to pay for another hotel through hotels.com. After this experience I dont think I will be booking through priceline again.
Cons: I booked the room for my parents but the hotel refused to take my payment. When Booking.com called they did not answer or reply. The manager was rude. This was the worst experience ever. The manager also refused to take my parents card.
Pros: Staff peoples are so nices
Cons: Sometime peoples talking to hight in the hallways
Placing you 3.8 mi (6.2 km) from Happyland and 5.8 mi (9.4 km) from Centro Olimpico, Dominican Fiesta Hotel & Casino offers an airport shuttle (available on request) for USD 40 per vehicle. Guests can indulge in massages, and El Mercado, one of 2 restaurants, serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There are 2 outdoor pools and 2 bars/lounges, and rooms offer fireplaces and 24-hour room service.
Cons: I didnt like the poor customer service at front desk, rude & unprofessional.
Pros: Clean and comfortable
Cons: They charge per guest. I was traveling with my two kids and they charged me extra for each.
Pros: I have a hard time finding solutions
Cons: Nobody couldn't help me
Cons: upon checking out I was approached by staff about missing towels, they actually dragged me back up to the room to count the towels; when I checked in there was one bath towel in the room, I requested more towels and they gave my 2 additional bath towels and 1 hand towel, which I left in the room; I even opened my bag to let them look and after finding no towels the be grudgingly let me go
Pros: Nice rooms good beds nice bar and restaurant
Cons: Noisy street noise along highway
Pros: Hotel location is great, walking distance to everything. The pool is clean. Rooms are clean and well taken care of.
Cons: Barcelo Hotel now offers gym membership and access to the pool to locals. Those who buy membership to the gym also are allowed to use the pool area thereafter. I am pretty sure that many local residence obtain gym memberhip just to be able to use a pool.. Well, this is a huge incinvenience for visitors and guests of the Barcelo Hotel. The day we arrived, te pool was full of local teenagers who were cursing, making a lot of unnecessary noise, inappropriately making out in the pool and behaving in a very obnoxious matter. There was no security nor anyone from hotel management around to observe and to correct the situation. To Barcelo Management: if you want and need to have a repetitive business, you must either ban te local visitors from using a pool or have someone to observe the disipline in your pool area. a
Pros: The bed was really comfy. The pool was nice.
Cons: The room key has to be inserted in order for the air and lights to work, which is inconvenient. While showering, the water seeps through and floods the bathroom. There is no free wifi. The breakfast was not worth it's expensive price. The fan makes a sudden and loud noise. The cleaning service knocks on your door 3 times a night to check up on things. The gym was really hot and under construction. There were pigeons that would get in the pool. No calls can be made (not even local calls) unless a credit is paid prior. The toilet wouldn't flush and maintenence had to be called everyday to fix it. Things would be moved or gone missing after the room was cleaned.
The Barcelo Santo Domingo hotel and all its facilities have been completely refurbished. Located in downtown Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic, it is a hotel with great tradition and prestige. Â The 217 rooms are perfectly equipped with the highest standards to ensure a very pleasant rest. Internationally-acclaimed dining is another area at which our hotels excel. Kyoto specializes in a-la-carte Japanese cuisine. Wireless Internet (Wi-Fi) is available throughout the hotel's facilities. The Barcelo Santo Domingo provides ideal accommodations to enjoy and get to know the city. Back at the hotel, you can enjoy the pools, relax in the Jacuzzi on the hotel's terrace with city views, work out in the gym, or let us pamper you in the spa. An avant-garde hotel to make your stay a fantastic experience.
Cons: room are small, bed is uncomfortable, they have a discotec on first floor and you are able to listen the music even if you are in the 4 floor until 3-4 am so you are unable to rest, staff with some exceptions are not friendly at all, bathroom is not good that's why they don't have pictures of there bathroom online, elevator if there is 2 people in there you are crowed, parking is uncomfortable I wouldn't recmmended
