We had asked for a two-bedroom unit but got a large three bedroom apartment with a private hot tub and well equipped kitchen. The staff checked on us to see if we needed anything. Unlimited free wifi, which is not always the case in NZ. Check-in closes at nine, eight on weekends. They had mentioned this in their reservation, but we did not notice as it was part of a lot of standard text that we didn't really read. Fortunately, we got there just as the manager was leaving. Also, the windows didn't have insect screens. If we kept them shut, the room was a bit hot and stuffy despite the fans (no AC), and if we kept them open, we got bit by some sand flies. The internet was weak and kept dropping.
Comfortable bed, good kitchen facilities Thought it was a spa suite but no spa in the room
The rooms were clean and spacious. Very well located for Rotorua adventures. Ian and Jyl were friendly, welcoming and helpful!
Would like to say a special thanks! My stay was great and the staff were wonderful... I will be returning on my next trip over... and stay a little longer!!.. Thanks again ! :)
The whole experience was excellent and would definitely recomend this accomadation
We liked the place very nice staff and very close to town we would stay there agen and going to tell frends about it
Very quiet with the double glazing and amenites were very well appointed. Would be better to have allocated car parks, so you do not disturb the tennets in the room in front of where you park.
We spent one night in Rotorua on our road trip from Auckland to Wellington, mostly to take in the thermal pools and a night of somewhat authentic Maori culture, there’s a reason the locals nickname it RotoVegas. The Emerald was clean, roomy with a wonderful woman at reception who made check in very smooth. Our room had a Jacuzzi hot tub which I wish we had more time to take advantage of but next time. There is swimming pool on the premises where folks with kids were playing with their kids, looked very well kept. Also, the beds were very comfortable and the complex quiet at night so we had a great nights sleep. I can’t over state how clean the place is though. We also booked a massage with the Siobhan the resident masseuse, which after a long ride from Auckland was very good. Not a traditional massage, more of a rub down.
Good service. The staff was friendly and helpful.
see all the fantastic sights that Rotorua has to offer
The owners brought us extra toys for our child to play with in the spa. They were very friendly and the room was very tidy and nice. We have now stayed at Ascot several times and look forward to returning.
The staff went out of their way to help, they provided extras without charge and helped with anything they could. There extra service and friendliness makes this hotel a great place to stay. No area for small children to play, but the basket of toys lent to us for the spa was fantastic.
Central Upstairs accommodation no outlook whatsoever - very claustrophobic
it was close to the centre.....it was well heated .... There was not a chair in the room.....only could sit on the beds....! next time it pays to ask what you get ....in hindsight ...we should of got a diiferent room .....would of costs more .....that would notbe a problem. And there was not a knife in the room either ....that suprised us .Anywa next time better....
I liked everything. But the best was: Michael & Hillary.
Very spacious and clean room for 5 people Staff/owners were very rude which ruined the mood of the holiday. Very unprofessional attitude not knowing much about hospitality.
Great location, very convenient for walking to centre of Rotorua. Well designed units, very comfortable, with spa baths. Owner very friendly and helpful. Quiet location but with good supermarket across the street. Well maintained.
