Extremely pleasant hotel, good and even stylish breakfast with a great variety, cool rooms, free wifi, even free parking available in streets around the hotel. Downtown Girona is at around 20 min. by foot, supermarket nearby. We definitively would stay there again whenever going to Girona.
The staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was good value, and the room was kept very clean. It is in a very handy location. As a very minor complaint, a lick of paint would not go wrong.
hotel very near to bus station, bus from airport on the half hour, very nice hotel owner. would stay again, ideal place for tabac run
This is a great budget hotel. Rooms are a good size, very clean, quiet. The reception staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The location is very convenient to the centre of town. I would happily stay there again.
Perfect location for Girona airport and for the city sightseeing.
The staff attendance and given clues about the city and places. The breakfast could have more variety, but when I asked for more bread I was served gently.
Very friendly and helpful staff
It was clean and convenient and staff were helpful Small, dingy room; much plumbing noise; and unpleasant smell.
The staff were excellent - I would recommend this hotel based on my experience
Friendly staff, very helpful, good atmosphere and clean relaxing rooms
An absolutely delightful place to stay. It is like coming home to a loving family! None
Very near train station convenient. The staff was very helpful and made us feel welcomed
Nicely refurbished, clean and well-decorated, particularly the bathroom. Breakfast was of a good standard and choice. Would have liked individual toiletry items in the bathroom. Some street/traffic noise in the morning from our room.
It was close to everything The walls are very thin and you can hear everything!!!
Clean, central and friendly. Nice breakfast. Friendly staff who speak some English and are keen to help. Comfortable bed. Great shower. Some noise late at night from corridor.
Simply, I like everything! N/A
central position did not like first room we booked small 3 bedroom
My daughter and I were delighted with the size and cleanliness of the bathroom, with the large walk-in shower--quite an improvement over the typical budget 24-inch by 24-inch stall. The breakfast--a nice cheese-and-cold-cuts with rolls affair, with pastry options--was better than average for budget hotels. Coffee--espresso--was served to us by the kitchen staff. View from room (exterior) was pleasant (a hillside with attractive buildings) and there was no bothersome noise in November from the street. The twin beds, while adequate, were no better in comfort than the typical budget hotel's. For whatever reason, we slept fitfully. The hotel's location, while about a quarter mile from the walled city, hadn't much charm in itself.
Spacious room and bathroom. Good shower Mirror in the bedroom would be useful.
Three things were excellent : the location, the pleasantness and friendliness of the staff and the breakfasts. My single room was poorly lit and did not have any natural daylight. Also the room was a bit spartan but what did I expect for 39 euros a night!
The cleanliness of the room, the location and the sympathy of the staff
Very nice hotel, staff very helpful, food and drink excellant, rooms too hot. Marcol on service desk very nice and helpful, thankyou for the taxi to the airport.
Quiet location and clean hotel. Booking says that the hotel offers free wi-fi in the business centre, but it's not true. And staff should be more helpful and nicer.
The staff were exceptionally helpful recommending good restaurants and tourist attractions in Girona. The Ibis is not a luxury hotel but is comfortable, clean and exceptional value for money. It is a bit out of town but there's a bus service nearby costing E1.20 to the centre.
Room for smokers was upon our request immediately exchanged for a room for non-smokers. Friendly and forthcoming staff. Hotel owned parking spaces in the evening are limited.
Easy to find and comfortable room Choice of food was poor and quality was terrible
It was bright, cheerful and clean. Free parking. Easy to find from motorway and main roads. The room was rather too hot to sleep comfortably. Otherwise fine. Rather a trek to the bus-stop into the city.
Another good night spent on our journey between Spain and UK. Staff are efficient and friendly. Breakfast, even though it costs extra, was good - especially the catalunyan tomato garlic toast!
I like how the room was furnirshed. Unfortunately there was a church in front of the hotel which`s bell was ringing in the early morning for a couple of hours each our and woke me up:(
Location and the friendly atmosphere. The room was very spacious and clean. A little far from the airport as we had to go back to collect a car the next day and it cost €60 for taxis to and from hotel.
difficult to locate
Already been here, everything ok:out of the crowd in a small nice town but very handy for Airport, town of Girona and a few km.away seaside. They just finished bar/restaurant renovation and had dinner(very convenient set menu):simple but assorted menu also with old rural Catalan dishes(try pork paw with sausage and cuttlefish sauce!). Rooms was clean but in the bathroom there was some fluff on the floor, overall tidy though.
The staff were so helpful. The owners charming daughter was fluent in English and was summoned to help with any queries. We chose it because it was near Girona airport but the bonus was excellent food - a selection of tapas [served in the bar] both from the menu and special requests not on the menu. The dining room looked good, though we didn't want a full meal. We have tried a number of hotels near Girona airport and this was the most convenient [very easy cross country drive], the most comfortable, the best food and without doubt suited us best. Excellent value for money - we'll go back again.
Large and clean room and bathroom. Very near the airport. Staff not allways available, poor reception, outdated, no free parking (do not leave your car in the market-place on saterday morning because it will be removed), WiFi not available.
You need to do something about the step outside the lift. The tile on the edge of the one level has been made the same colour as the one on the lower level. It is difficult to see tgat there is a step there and I fell heavily. It needs some sort of a warning sign.
The room and the private car parking The difficulty in finding the hotel and negotiating the very narrow onw way streets
Helpful, friendly staff, comfortable room at reasonable price and useful stop-over on the way from Gerona airport on the way west to the Pyrenees.
Everything in line with expected:family run business, very friendly, well renovated rooms.Good value for money and,for my business needs in that area, handy and in a nice village. Actually, parking space problem highlighted from other guest is non relevant:it's obvious that since you're in a pedestrian area and anyway, despite a evening show in square where car park available, found it immediately(at 100 mt.)!
Hotel Gran Ultonia was a very new modern & spacious hotel close to the old city attractions of Girona
Most comfortable hotel bed in world, great buffet breakfast Lobby area under reconstruction 16 hours a day, no satellite TV signal for foreign language stations except CNN, view from room blocked by close multi-storey car park
the hotel is redesigned ,rooms are well decorated, staff is helpfull, very good value for your money.excellent location.
very comfortable rooms, nice interior, hotel parking nearby, located in the center of the city, not far from main seesights.
Not a lot it was nothing special and cost us £100 for just the room we would not stop there again It was not good value for money
lovely newly refurbished bedroom and bathroom
Nice, spacious room with excellent bathroom. Superb breakfast. Friendly staff. The parking facility is not for the claustrophobic and people with large cars cannot use it. Also, the access has no ramp which is bad for the car.
The hotel is in an excellent location and has secure parking. When our car broke down the hotel were extremely helpful. Food served by room service was disappointing
The hotel as great - location, room, food, stuff The parking of the hotel is a bit compliacted and thus I used an outside parking
The hotel was relaxes and quiet. Some outside space to sit and have a snack or drink would have been appreciated.
room was clean and comfortable parking was limited / small, not all items in mini bar / toilet were refilled during my stay.
As we only stayed overnight the bed!
beds very comfortable. Staff very pleasant internet works well parking expensive
The town of Girona is beautiful and the hotel and the staff were friendly. the old town and historic area are well worth the visit and a must see. The hotel is located near the commercial part of the town and so you have to be prepared to walk for 15-20 mins to access the beautiful old town.
Ariel at Reception was the only team member that displayed exemplorary guest service skills. He was always very helpful and willing to offer information relating to the city etc. He is a credit to the company. Breakfast service - had to ask for coffee . Restaurant staff were more focused on clearing tables rather than serving clients. Description of breakfast in guest directory led us to believe that there would be a substantial choice, when infact was merely an adequate selection. Hence we only took breakfast once during our stay. Food was well cooked and presented, just not what we anticipated.
A great hotel, good staff and excellent facility. Well worth the money
Very good room, very good breakfast, efficient check-in and check-out, good location of the hotel the garage spaces are very small
The hotel was spotless. The breakfast excellent .The mini bar was a nice touch and welcome when we arrived. Staff were very helpful. Few english speaking channels on tv. World news silent and the volume very low on other english speaking channels.
The hotel is very nicely situated close to the historic city centre. The hotel offer you a neat and very nice room. We liked the stay a lot.
Ciutat de Girona is perfectly placed in the city centre. Whether you want to go shopping, out to eat, or see the sights it's all an easy walk. The longest walk we had was to the bus & train station, but even they were only a 15 minute amble. Girona is beautiful and the Ciutat de Girona makes the stay a comfortable, easy and enjoyable one!
Warm courteous staff, cool vibe, great location
Good location near city center Parking is a nightmare and staff was very unhelpful.
excellent hotel in central position. Staff very hekpful.
Ideal location for exploring the old city The shower didn't drain away quick enough despite the hotel fixing it, and the modern trendy wash hand basin could have benifited from a proper plug. But hey, it's Spain and it's a modern, clean hotel.
We were very friendly welcomed by the desk-manager and it set the tone of our stay : helpful and relaxed, yet efficiently managed. Room and bathroom were large and spotless. Even if our room was just across the elevator, there was no outside noise and we slept easily. The buffet breakfast was well stocked and available till 11 am, which is a bonus on holiday. We would definitely stay in this hotel again ! At night the restaurant Blanc served only a menu, the quality of the main course was rather average.
The staff was great and the location excellent. Everything was in line with my expectations.
hospitality and comfort. Central to shopping .It was our 2nd stay at this hotel and will be back again next year. the breakfast was not good value for money but the evening meals are excellent.
service, quality and friendliness no wireless access in rooms
very cosy but i would like the name of the tapas in english at the terrace
excellent and helpful staff no
It was central and spacious with good facilities and helpful staff. Breakfast was particularly comprehensive and good quality. Our original room was too hot due to the non availability of aircon due to building work/improvements but we were readily offerred an alternative room on the cooler side of the hotel which we took up.
Staff were polite and helpful. The quality of food was excellent. Room was clean and comfortable.Good parking arrangements. Because there were no other options in the area for eating, the Hotel has a captive audience, and the prices reflect this, both for foof and drinks, which is a shame. The food was excellent, but with no lower priced options, it makes staying there for the independent traveller very pricey, especially as this was not even in high season.
We have stayed at the hotel before and always found it to be ideal for our needs and would recommend it to our friends, should the need arise we would stay there again.
Everything was excellent Liked everything
Non chargable internet access
Excellent location. The hotel was extremely comfortable and the staff wellcoming and helpful.
Hotel reception were quite good with their english. Breakfast was very expensive so we didn't take it up (so can't comment whether it's worth it) - we went to a cafe around the corner and had coffee and quite a nice ham roll for a less than a 5th of what we would've paid for the hotel breakfast.
Stayed there for less than 24 hours, but it was close to the things that we whanted to see and comfortable.
What a nice butique hotel - make sure that you have the only room with a whirlpool bath :)
Its central position, the friendliness of the staff, particularly on reception. The efficient self service breakfast, best experienced anywhere. Cleanliness of rooms and communal areas. Lovely en suite bathroom. The bedroom was ultra modern and stylish which we liked but the control switches to operate lighting etc were quite challenging. Given the water shortages in this area during the summer I had reservations about the unconventional wash basin. There was no facility for capturing the running water in the basin (ie no plug) and therefore the water just drained away which I felt to be very wasteful.
Location is excellent. Nice staff. Room design is aggressively modern - white walls with glass accents, rosewood built-in furnishings. Bathroom contains zingy, high-style fixtures but this is separated from main room by a sandblasted glass enclosure. This means that the sounds, and at night the light, of another person using the bathroom are very present. We decided that the place would be ideal for a young couple having a dirty weekend (hotel conveniently provides a booklet of "tantric sex for dummies" plus advertises a "sensuality pack" for sale), but it's less than ideal for travellers and tourists.
The room and bathroom are quit big size and comftable with the most technology. After 11pm no receptionest or security???
The hotel was very central to the old town and its shopping facitilties. It was very modern and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The electronic system in the rooms were quite difficult to get to grips with. We kept opening the curtains instead of turningthe lights on!!!
Comfortable, spacious room with high quality, modern fixtures and fittings. Friendly, helpful staff. Central location.
Excellent reconstruction of well sited building in historic setting in old town into an upmarket stylish contemporary small hotel legends
The location of the hotel and the considerate and competent way I was treated by the two young women who meet the public. They could also tell you, by telephone how to get to the hotel without getting lost. (June 2009).
very pleasant staff and locals. beautiful relaxing atmosphere. perfect position near cathedral and old town light switches a little confusing - would have liked kettle in own room and breakfast facilities on last day as had to leave by 7;15. lack of space for clothes. not keen on there being little privacy in bath room/toilet
Located in heart of historic centre, perfect location. Excellent, young, multi-lingual and very helpful staff. Remote control for lighting in bedroom and bathroom was not easy to understand as instructions in Catalan! Being city centre a little noisy at times.
the peace and quiet, and the view the hill up from Girona and lack of tea/coffee making facilities in the bedroom, albeit there was tea/coffee in the reception area, also a hotel of this calibre should have breakfast included in the price.
The excellent design. The soundproofing could be improved. We could hear the television from the next room
Liked the design, comfort, view, breakfast staff, and free mini bar & lounge drinks & snacks Dinner at the hotel was over priced in relation to the quality and quantity of the food.
Hotel was clean and quiet, staff were pleasant and helpful, room and bed were comfortable, view was nice. Breakfast was good but expensive. Hotel is a good 15 minute walk from the old city centre and is set apon a steep hill so is only suitabe for the able bodied.
1. the service at the lobby 2. the landscape seen from the hotel large terrace. 1. the door to the toilet room door did not closed all the way and was not lockable. 2. there is only one chair at the room.
It is an amazing place to stay for the weekend, rooms are comfy, staff very attentive, wonderful views over the city. It is missing a fitness room and a covered secure garage.
Good , clean design hotel. Nice view over Girona. In experienced staff at check-in desk. No internet access for a few hours due to technical problems.
good quality hotel at reasonable price
Complimentary Mini Bar in Room and Reception, Clean and Modern Rooms. 5 star hotel should have some sort of leisure facility , Gym / Swimming Pool
We loved the hotel for the lovely terrace and bar area. It was so relaxing after a long day walking about, just to sit with a drink and admire the view Although the hotel was a bit of a hike up the hill, it was well worth it for the fantastic vistas. The only down side was the location, at the top of a steep hill. This would not put us off staying here again, as we just loved the hotel and the walk was worth it.
location Probably wil choose another just for variety :)
The location of the hotel is within a short walk of the old town - very convenient.
Location was brilliant. Staff very friendly. Alterations were being done to the reception area whilst we stayed and we could see that it was going to look lovely. We did not eat at the hotel so cannot comment on the service or food. We would stay again. We would of liked a kettle in the room but this was not a huge problem for us.
Basic clean and what you pay for at present, perfect shower.very dated but okay for a short stay. Able to have dbl bed !!! unheard of in spanish hotels. needs a little soundproofing !!!!
it is very well placed for sightseeing in the city.
Convenience for visting old town. Beds comfortable.Fridge in room.Clean and tidy. Corridors had dingy feel to them and needed the paintwork refreshing. Thin walls between the rooms although we were not bothered by any noise particularly.Tea and coffee making facilities would have been good.
Convenient location. Close to centre of town and to train/bus terminal Shouting and noise from street at night.
Location was wonderful There was no bar for drinks or snacks.
Perfectly placed for the tourist district and old quarter of Gerona. Friendly staff who were happy to provide a map and directions.
Good location. Quite near to both the city centre and station.
The position of hotel was good in the centre of Girona. Staff were very helpful and breakfast (continental) was perfectly adequate. The decor is a little tired very tired in places, although it looks as if they are gradually improving this. Saying this the rooms and facilities were clean.
It is central
the location is perfect, rooms are clean and cosy, everything looks new the walls between rooms are very thin, you can hear everything that happens in the next room 20 euros per day for the safety box is too much
Excellent central location, excellent shopping, close to train and bus station for easy access to Barcelona and the Costa Brava. Staff were extremely helpful. Nothing
Being close to the shops & resturants. Feeling safe.
The ideal location - close to the old town and the shopping area. Station is an easy walk away for trips to Barcelona or Figeuras. Helpful and friendly staff.
good central location and friendly and helpful staff
The room was great and the location perfect
The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were vert clean.
Nothing to rave about, nothing to complain about either - for 38€ I feel I got exactly what I paid for.
Access to the old town and cafes and restaurants The peninsular uses combined air con and heating whicj is noisy. The batroom was cold
Goos location and friendly staff A bit mean with replacing soap and shampoo when we were there for 5 nights
The room was war and well equipped and very clean It was a little noisy...noise from the road outside and corridors when people used them
Not much of a looker from the outside, but wonderful inside. The location was perfect for walking tours of Olot. We would definitely stay here on our next trip.
Location, cleanliness. Easy access into the city and sights. I would recommend
-hotel nice and clean and staff was very nice far away from airport and barcelona
The fact that we were offered the possibility of a basic breakfast in spite of our 05:00 departure from the hotel. The distance from the airport which added to the "cost" of the hotel.
the friendliness and helpfulness of the check in staff
comfortable room, good service, easy to find
Very good location for Airport stop over - situated just off motorway about 15 minutes from airport. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful.Car parking and breakfast included in price. Situated next to a new shopping complex. Local bus close by and only 1.25 euro to centre of Girona. This is an International chain of Hotels - The Girona Holiday Inn is very comfortable but lacks Spanish charm /gardens etc.
Reception nice and easygoing Bad parkingspot no light unattended bad for business do it better
Access to the town was good, the local restaurants were handy and good quality. The rooms were quiet and clean. Yes, the bathroom basin plug was broken and there was no soap in the hand basin dispenser.
The staff were very pleasant and helpful and spoke English. The breakfast was good even if the buffet had a limited range and was the same every day.
The friendliness of the staff.
Staff were very helpful and the hotel well located No meals other than breakfast
very close to old part of the city, but calm, very close to train station
The location. . .it was within 3 blocks of the bus station where the airport shuttle arrived and within 5-6 blocks of downtown Girona. Shower was too small, or I'm too big?
good location in the centre of Gerona, you can walk directly in the city. My room at 6th floor was quite silent, even if the hotel is in the centre. wait time at check-in (about 20 minutes)
Good easy to find location coming to/from airport and train .Close to the old city. Reasonable value - nothing remarkably good or bad.
I found the hotel was well situated it was easy to access the tourist areas and the transportation. I found the lack of sound proofing between rooms to be a problem.
good position, good price for 1 person, 30 minutes from airport with cost return 4,00
Convienient, good central location and clean. The shower cubicle is tiny.
The hotel was well situated and suitable for a city break and was good value. Friendly staff and otherwise a good budget choice. The single room which I stayed in was very small - the bathroom was very tight so may not be suitable for a big person and there was no hook on the back of the bathroom door to hang a dressing gown or shower cap etc and not enough shelf space to put a toilet bag. The single room I stayed in was next to the lift well so the sound echoed all night when people used the lift so not suitable for light sleepers.
The location of the hotel is excellent, near both to the railway/bus station and city centre. Water from the bathroom after having a shower enters the room (bad isolation).
Great hotel especially for what we paid - real value for money. Our room was immaculate clean, it looked like the hotel has just been renovated. Great central location. Friendly and helpful stuff. Nothing bad to say.
we loved the grounds and the peace and tranquility even though fully booked there never seemed to be anyone around - pure heaven!! no nothing at all
The setting in this medival village was terrific. Very relaxing garden and pool area and only a short drive to the seaside resorts. The only minus was lack of local resteraunts, although the terrace at The Placa Hotel in Madremanya, 4 kilometres away was exceptional if pricey. Joseph and his staff were great and very helpful. Would definitly recommend the hotel. No
Calm and peaceful with a fantastic medieval place were children run and play while local resident dine all night. The architecture is very modern and trendy with grass on the roof top. Rooms are individualised and very quiet. Fare from commodities (about 15 minutes from stores) but close to Dali/Gala castle in Pubol
loved the hotel, room was great, food was good, area is beautiful. Only problem was the poor little girl on duty knew nothing! Couldnt even give us a menu, just a scrap of paper which she couldnt read any more than we could. She was pleasant and it certainly didnt spoil our stay
