To explore the smaller villages, you might prefer to park and walk through the narrow streets.
If you’re travelling with children and hiring a car through KAYAK, please note that there are clear regulations in Corfu that cover driving with children. All children under the age of three must be in an infant child seat. From the ages of three to 11, children must be seated in an age-appropriate child seat that matches their size. Children from the age of 12 may wear regular seat belts, as long as they are over four feet four inches tall. You can arrange for child seats as bookable extras when you make your KAYAK reservation.
It’s advisable to carefully plan your route before embarking on day trips. Get out your map beforehand and look for the main roads, as these are less demanding to drive on. Explore the island’s coastal shoreline, with cliffs overlooking the Ionian Sea, stopping off at the tourist resorts along the way. You can base yourself in Corfu town and easily drive to places like Kassiopi, an old fishing village where the traditional way of life still thrives. You can also drive to the west coast of the island and visit the fabled Paleokastritsa beaches.
