Pros (+) Our room was large, shower head new and worked wonderfully, and location is great! Maintenance and housekeeping were great trying to make us happy. They did offer to move us if the heat wasn't ok, but we already had all of our things unpacked, so chose to stay.
Cons (-) 2 heaters in the room - 1 did not work at all, and 1 worked on high only 1st night. They did send someone to work on them and gave us a space heater to use - never did work properly. Had to bring a heavy duty extension cord with an extra plug as there are very few outlets. Pros (+) Our room was large with plenty of space for everyone's stuff. The refrigerator and microwave were nice to have. We didn't use the game room or sitting area downstairs but they were nice looking. Coffee and pastries in the morning were good too. Location was good for walking downtown. There were two HVAC units in the wall, so the room warmed up quickly.
Cons (-) There should be small table and chairs in a room this big. The pool and pool area were chilly with a strange layout. There was a headband that didn't belong to us under the nightstand. Cons (-) Bolt lock on door didn't work, which was unnerving. It had clearly been not working for awhile, based on damage done to door jamb from trying to shut the door all the way.
Pros (+) I go to lake placid to hike and for the restaurants. So a bed need be no more than a bed. In this respect, Thd Summit is perfect. Great location, very affordable, perfectly adequate. I will stay there over and over again.
