Location Room was extremely small and had ants shower stall was about one foot by one foot no tub
Clean hotel with good location on the canal. Small room with small bath. Could not turn around in the shower.
Super busy location. Very handy for our early train departure on our last day. Handy to all of the water taxis too Nice breakfast in a pleasant dining room. Our double room was very large, with a high-ceiling and large bathroom with tub/shower.
When a staff brought my luggage up, I gave 1 euro, it may not be much, but I researched that you do not tip in Europe in general. Staff made sarcastic comments which was very rude. I will not go back here for this one guy, I was ripped off quite a bit in europe, so research and be firm to say "NO" when they ask for more money or tip.
View from big windows to Canale Grande
The location is near the train and bus stations and also near the vaporetto. It's a busy area, but convenient. The hotel offers free appetizers in the afternoon and great free breakfast in the morning. The single room was tiny, but it had all I needed. If you don't plan to stay in your room much, it's ideal.
The location was excellent and easy to find, as was the view and breakfast.
The location and dinning staff. The front desk staff was arrogant and unresponsive, bad attitude......
Only location was good. except location, everything was pretty bad.
The location. The staff, room quality and cleanliness.
Great location, 600 feet from train station . Old building ( this is a very old city ) but makes you feel as though you have gone back in time . Great food , service excellent. Front desk guys can be a little stuffy , but they upgraded us at no charge . Beds could be queen or king , the 2 single beds are a joke . Pushing them together is pointless. A romantic hotel in one of the best cities on earth , should have bigger beds .
The location, close to train station and to ferry service. The good breakfast. The spacious room (a standard room) and the bathroom with a window. With reservation of "Booking.com" is not possible to dinner with price of € 25,00 as is written in the Confirmation. Please cancel it from your Booking.com confirmation because the menu of the hotel restaurant is more expensive!
Location was great and Silvia and Patrick were amazing with our family. My wife has celiac and they accommodated her. Breakfast was amazing was a great experience and would love to recommend to anyone that is going. Can't say a bad thing
The location was great, and the staff was eager to please. There were a lot of maintenence issues. When we got into our room, we noticed that the telephone, refrigerator and one of the wall lights did not work. The staff tried very hard to remedy the situation, but failed. To make up for the problem, they moved us into a new, larger suite. But after settling in to the new room, we found out that the air conditioner, and shower valve were not working. They had a plumber come in to fix the shower valve, but the air conditioner remained broken, and we were forced to open up some windows to get cool air into the room.
My son and I arrived earlier than check in, but the staff was very pleasant and helpful and let us leave our bags so we could go explore Venice. The person helping us even suggested a route on a map so we could avoid all the crowds due to the Festival of St Mark. Location was fantastic. Breakfast options were plentiful!
We spend two nights in this hotel. The room was not clean and was very small and smelly. there was not even room for luggage in the room. The worst part was on the first night hotel fire alarm went off and we had to evacuate our room. There was only one staff working at night and he didn't know what was the issue and the alarm was on for the whole night. He couldn't confirm if it was a false alarm and we could go back to our room safely! so we had to stay up in hotel lobby for the whole night!!! What bothered me most was hotel manager didn't show up at all and he didn't even sent anyone to help that one staff. Even the next day when I ask to have a chat with hotel manager they said he doesn't have time for this and I can write a letter to him!!! They didn't give us any compensation for ruining our holiday and I found the manager very rude.
Style, comfort, service, breakfast, wi-fi. Nice fabrics cover room walls. All marble (walls and flooring) bathroom. Although room size was 14 x 11, it was very comfortable. Good quality beds, matress and linnings. Only problem is bathroom with sewer smell, but this is a common issue in Venice.
Easy to access train station. Staff very friendly and helpful. Right off the Main Street so it was very noisy
The Service of the desk manager was outstanding
Central Location Very nice lobby Bed was not comfortable Very limited facilities
The hotel offers rooms that are comfortable and conveniently located. It's very clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The best part? Some of the rooms have bathtubs! After showering in the world's smallest showers across Italy, it was fantastic to be able to take a bath. Nothing. It was perfect for me.
breakfast was excellent, close to train station, close to canal, close to downtown, very nice, clean, comfortable ask questions of desk staff acted like they really didn't have time to be bothered to answer my questions.
The ambiance the location the price couldn't be better.
loaction smoking room
The hotel has an excellent location about 50yards from where the airport bus drops you off. We had an amazing room on the first floor which looked straight out on the grand canal. The selection of breakfast was good with fruit, cereal, cold meats, bread and croissants and the view onto the canal from the dining room was great. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel offers a fantastic base to explore this amazing city and it is well worth walking over to st marks square once or twice as opposed to taking the boat just to see the less touristy parts of the city. There are plenty of restaurants near the hotel, some very over expensive, but sitting by the water having a drink in one of the most beautiful cities in italy is priceless. I would definitely stay here again! The only drawback of the hotel was that our bathroom was in a different room from the bedroom. Although it was private just for us, I would have preferred not to have to walk into the hallway to get to it. Constantly locking it to ensure no other guests used it was also a chore. However if this is the small price we had to pay for the view we had from our room then I am not complaining!
We both liked the convenience, near to railway station, Venice centre, bus & coach services,if needed. Exellent and interesting views of canals. Also from our outdoor terrace at the top of hotel theview of city
Perfect location if you don't want to haul bags. next to bus station and across the walking bridge from the train station. Great breakfast included. Sheets scratchy.
excellent breakfast buffet, friendly and helpful staff We wish they had told us we could walk to the hotel from the train station versus having to pay 6 Euros per person for a 2 minute trip across a canal. Also it is good to know ahead of time that it is on the outskirts of the Grand Canal so it is a good 45 minute walk to St. Mark's Plaza - - we didn't let it bother us - exploring the city by foot was an adventure - but it would have been nice to know ahead of time.
Proximity to the centre whilst being able to return to the hotel in a short walk Need better arrangements for getting baggage to the hotel, the cark is 100m aways but as the crow flies, there are a number of steps to negotiate, I was able to carry the baggage but elderly people will struggle.
The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is located near the bus and train station as well as a vaparetto stop. After we checked in we were taken to a seperate building. Far removed from the actual hotel. The alternate building had no facilities and the free wifi rarely worked. I had to walk back to the actual hotel in order to use the wifi. The bed could not have been more uncomfortable. The entire set up felt very unsafe.
the location was really great, quiet and very close to train and bus stations made it very accessible, also right beside grand canal nothing, it was perfect
We could park our bikes in the hotel parking area. Close to shuttle services.
Location on Grand Canal Venice - romantic No Coffee Tea Facilities in room
The hotel is quaint with traditional furnishings and decor. Its location right on the Piazzale Roma is excellent if you don't want to stay right on St Marks Square. Very accessible to the seaport, train bus and vaporetto terminals. Was excellent for us coming in by ship and out by bus to the airport.
It had a perfect location to the station/bus station and also the centre of Venice. Room was very big, but shower was small.. the bathroom was abit small - but it was good..
excellent position, very next to the train station. (in Venice this has the greatest value!) I would have appreciate to have little bit warmer bed covers, due to the autumn temperature.
Location No courtesy. Very uptight Won't give an extra map next day.
Great location, price and staff. Ideal for first-time solo travelers. N/A.
During heavy rains and rising waters in St. Mark's Square we relocated here from our hotel so we wouldn't have to drag our bags through the water to make an early am train. We did not expect luxury or pampering. The price was right and the proximity to the sl train station and vaporetto was perfect. The staff treated us cordially and fair. There is no elevator. If you have trouble with steep stairs, this is not the hotel for you. The lobby area (where the internet reception is best) is positively filthy. No room safe.
Despite the room was single, it was large and cosy. The breakfast was not so rich, but fresh and delicious.Location-excellent. The problem with mosquitos.
A short walk from the bus station and an even shorter walk from the water bus make this an ideal location. The colourful decor in this restored building makes it unique. Excellent breakfast too!
The staff are super friendly and helpful. The hotel's décor is charming and very quirky. The place is in short beautiful. We loved staying here because Domina Home Ca Zusto is something different to the normal. Nothing wrong here. All was as advertised or better.
Frendly staff. Excelent Service.
Very helpful staff Extremely small and compact space even by European standards.
Everything was excellent
Good location The hotel is nice but expensive and were charged 4 euros per person and per day as local tax, in the top of that.
I liked the welcoming attitude of the staff. The hotel is cheerful both in thatvaspect and the decor is fresh and inviting. The rooms are unique as well as the breakfast room. The location works great as I arrived by train and it is a short walk and I rolled my luggage there. Then, went on to walk around.it is close to everything including a vaporetto if you prefer to return to the hotel that way after a long day of walking and sightseeing.also restaurants are nearby that seem to cater to locals as well,Especially Pizzeria Anfora.I was with my 9 year old daughter and she loved the experience, we felt well taken care of there. We would go back. As buildings in Venice are centrally controlled as to heating and air conditioning and as we were lucky and glad for the mild temperatures in early November, the room was a bit warm, I opened the window and it was appropriately cooler but had to suffer a bug or two.
I really liked the room and the bathtab with jacuzzi. Nothing
Lovely hotel, friendly helpful staff, quiet, close to transport (vaporetto), beautiful room, lovely atmosphere and sense of history although sympathetically and well modernised.
friendly staff , though not very prorfessional:) the internet conection was very bad!!! no buffet breakfast we were told the room was broken and asked we used room service
Room was clean Shower is not of this time anymore, after taking a shower you could swim in the bathroom, why not having a simple showercabine or so? The breakfast was very poor. For Internet you had to pay, while the website claims it is for free.
This is a lovely character hotel with a great location on the Grand Canal. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are elegant and clean.
This is a charming boutique hotel right on the Grand Canal. Our room was beautiful, spacious and very quiet. The staff is outstanding - always friendly and extremely helpful. One of the best hotels we've ever experienced. n/a
It's nice located close to the railway station, even though you have to search a little bit in order to find it ;-) It's a nice little hotel with very friendly staff!
The staff members were all very plesant and accomadating.
The view, and especially the ONLY balcony in the hotel. Free Murano tour with private water taxi both ways.
This is a GREAT hotel! Location is great. Staff is awesome...so friendly and attentive. Decor really gives the feel of romantic Venice. Highly recommend it!! Gianni and Roxanna were the best!
Atmosphere in this hotel is truelly unique. It is stylish, in baroque Venetian style. Beds are super comfortable, rooms are spacious and clean, bathrooms are very comfortable. Service is polite and can go any lengths to make your stay special. We have stayed in the new wing of teh hotel - very quiet although a little bit isolated. If you prefear vividness of the Grand Canal you should stay in one of the rooms overlooking it - all rooms are beautifully decorated. Water taxi can be order directly at the doorstep.Breakfast is small but fresh.
Excellent location, nice rooms and very helpful staff
The staff was wonderful, from the minute we arrived and greeting us by name, to every detail during our stay. The location is perfect and the accommodations great. No, nothing we did not like.
A gem of a beautiful small hotel. Staff very caring and helpful in all matters. Our room had everything one could wish for. Nothing
Great Location on the Grand Canal Breakfast in the Garden overlooking the Canal was excellent however the breakfast (Included in the rate) didnt include cerials or Cheese / meat choices that you normally get with a buffet breakfasts at similar (and cheaper ) Hotels
Everything. Thats it! Wonderful rooms wonderful showers, wonderful gardens, Breakfast limited but still good
This Hotel was fabulous, from the quality of the staff to the detail of the rooms. The breakfast was always beautifully presented with great staff. The location was so easy to find and perfect for getting to the train station and ferry. I highly recommend this hotel! Nothing was a problem at this gorgeous hotel.
Fantastic location. Room was wonderful. Most of the staff was very kind and helpful.
The staff was very helpful and we traveled with our 6yr old.. Nice stay and would say again... Anyone can split hairs but all-in-all it was as we expected for a 4 star in Europe...
Location boutique hotel No kettle in room
Excellent hotel, great location overlooking the grand canal, friendly and helpful staff
There is a lovely rose garden that overlooks the Grand Canal. It is so lovely to sit out there and eat breakfast or have a bottle of wine in the evening. They have a fabulous continental breakfast also.
We enjoyed the breakfast in the garden
nice and wide rooms. the location is perfect and it worths the money spent.
The location in Venice is excellent and together with the luxury feel to the place it is a excellent choice One senior member behind the reception appeared to think himself superior.
Proximity to the Piazzale Roma and away from the madding crowd. Breakfast if not included in the room price was ridiculously expensive
Very pleasant for the brief stay we had. None
1) Friendly and helpful staff. I was looking to do a couple day trips outside Venice and when I asked for help at the front desk, the staff on duty was extremely helpful and even went out of his way to print the train schedules for the different legs of my day trip. 2) Comfortable accomodation.
Good decorations. Location is very near bus station and about 30mins walk to San Marco sq, so manageable. Small rooms, but that's to be expected on Venice islands, space is a premium.
It was close to the station, very elegant, nice staff, and very spacious, and the restaurant exellent none
Large Room felt luxurious bar lifeless
Excellent location, great breakfast spread Room Toilet seat cover is a bit loose
The location of the hotel was very good for visiting Venice. It is located only one bridge from the bus/taxi terminal making carrying luggage reasonably easy. Near to the Grand Canal, the Station, Cruise Terminal and Water Buses. No dislikes.
Every thing , the area the hotel, plus the staff, beautiful city No it is a excellent hotel
A nice hotel. It's near the train station, but a bit far from the centre.
Closness to places we wanted to go and near the Rome Termini for Train service
It's central location was terrific for access to the city itself plus the bus and train services. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
great location lovely atmosphere
Great location, very nice room, bit complicated corridor system (but I guess its just Venice thing:), great breakfast. Bit stinky corridor outside our room but not a big deal really...
The staffs are friendly. The location is excellent - just next to Piazzale Roma, and a bridge away from the rail station.
Staff were accommodating and more then helpful, this hotel has so much charm and is so inviting on arrival. The rooms are spacious and the location is great! Right near the major bus terminal and so easy to access from the airport. We really enjoyed our stay and recommend it to anyone looking for affordable accommodation in Venice! We would definitely stay here on return. They do not have wireless internet throughout the hotel, you have to pay for it, and use it in the lobby and its not value for money.
Breakfast good. Room very comfortable. Position excellent for accessing all areas of Venice. On arrival , member of reception staff very brusque but subsequent staff very helpful and courteous.
Close to train station and water bus transport. Good restaurants in close proximity. Overall a good locaton to enjoy Venice. A minor inconvenience was the policy relating to continental breakfast room service. There was a different menu for room service which was not suitable and the staff (or policy) does not allow the guests to choose their own breakfast and take it to their room.
Staff were very helpful, room very clean, breakfast very good. It was about a 30 minutes walk from st marks square.
We loved the friendliness and hospitality of the staff, especially Roberto. We also thought this location is perfect for those who are going on a cruise from Port of Venice since it is adjacent to the plaza where the shuttle bus picks up Breakfast also was fantastic!
Friendly staff, we stayed there to be near the bus / train station for an early start. Clean comfortable rooms.
Hotel Abbazia is just two minutes away from Santa Lucia train station, and the Ferrovia vaporetto (water bus) station is even closer. You can catch a ride on the vaporetto from there any time day or night to San Marco or anywhere you want, or you can just cross the "Ponte dei Scalzi" on Canal Grande and walk your way from there. The hotel entrance is tucked away inside a small alley, and you might have to ask for directions if it is your first time in Venice, but it should be easy for you to find. As for the hotel itself, it is really a charming hotel, and the staff, lead by the manager Alvise Vianello, are the friendliest and most charming staff you would ever counter. The are welcoming and accommodating that you'd feel right at home when you are there. The room itself was very nice and well maintained, it is of a good size, and has all the needed amenities. The bathroom was also clean and of a good size. The hotel also has Wi-Fi and it's free of charge for the guests. The breakfast was basic, and actually was of the widest varieties that we've experienced in our 6 cities Italian adventure, but again, breakfast is not exactly Italy's biggest export. We loved our stay in the hotel Abbazia, and we loved the kindness of its staff, and if we ever went back to Venice, I'd make sure to stay there again. The shower handler was broken, but it was not really an issue for me.
Friendly and helpful staff, somewhere to leave your bags before and after your stay, small courtyard garden, excellent location close to the station, sound of the nearby monastery bells, reasonably priced drinks in the very comfortable bar No
We were promised that the bathroom door would be fixed and this never happened which was dissappointing.
staff were helpful and efficent, the location was excellant to train station etc. breakfast room could be cleaner, bedroom needed to be dusted more attention to detail required
The reception staff were fantastic.
Staff at front desk very helpful and friendly the breakfasts! Hard-boiled eggs were soft-boiled and surprised many guests when they cracked them open. Croissants were burnt, coffee was put out in glass pitcher, not heated and tables were cleaned very slowly, a real disappointment.
The hotel is perfectly located (close to the train station and to the bus station, making it convenient for a city-trip) and on walking distance from the city-centre. Staff is quite helpful and very nice.
The hotel staff were wonderful-extremely friendly-they treated us like we were at a five star hotel-they took our bags to our rooms and any time we needed anything they brought it to our room immediately, I Love this hotel. The Breakfast was super! The location is just a quick 2 minute walk from the train station. they even told us a back way to get there so that we didn't have to use the stairs in front of the train station. I was travelling with my freinds and my mother and we had a blast. Mirko at the front desk was so great-we all want to go back to just to see him-well and to shop too! You must stay at this hotel! The newer the rooms-the supperior ones-are beautiful-wood beams on the celing and a jucuzzi tub . super hotel They do not have elevators-I was travelling with my mother who could not go up and down stairs , But they made wonderful accommodation for us and gave us a bigger room on the bottom floor.
The building archetecture suggested it had been a part of a monastery joined to a large church nextdoor with lots of bells. The bells do ring. The hotel has a beautiful courtyard that our room looked onto. The room was clean and nicely furnished. Your information should note the hotel does not have an elevator. Hotel staff carries luggage to your room, however.
The good location, which is very close to train station and the main garages in the city.
The friendliness and helpful staff of the hotel.
Fabulous location, could walk everywhere. Next to Station and only a couple of minutes from Piazza Roma. Lovely decor and rooms furnished in typical Venetian grandeur. Breakfast was good for this level hotel. Air conditioners not operating in rooms. Staff while helpful were not very friendly, not the reception staff or the breakfast staff.
Very silent and clean The staff was very unfriendly; especially at the reception desk
Really beautiful hotel, top class, ideal location, close to shops, pharmacy, eating areas, main ferry point and gondola rides, station. breakfast was nice. Double bed was two single beds put together. A little on the expensive side but its Venice.
very nice interior design,(venetian style) especially the restaurant, little but nice room there is a two big problems :1. heating system make noise all night and you can't stop him (you must drink serious for a good repose). 2.water smells of "canaletto sea-water" only in this hotel in Venice (we change hotel next day and this problem disappeared !)
Location was great for access to Venice shopping and restaurants. Hotel was very pretty. Free breakfast was delicious. I enjoyed every aspect of our stay.
Very close to the train station. If you like hot showers this might not be for you. I showered at various times 7am, 9am and 3pm and the temperature was constant but only just warm enough to shower.
I would definately go back to Hotel Belle Epoque, its a lovely antique hotel and our room was spacious and very different to anywhere we have stayed before
Convenient location near train station and nice hotel staff. Old and dusty maybe.. Didn't seem as clean as one would hope.
the comfort and the stuff are very nice and good breakfast...
great location, good service hotel look great until you get to the room. bathroom needs to update.
Hotel is situated near the railway station, comfortable, good breakfast.
Our room was very comfortable and spacious overlooking the Grand Canal. The divan for our third adult was not as big as a regular single bed size.
Excellent hotel in a good location. Very good breakfast.
Location was excellent - close to train, bus depot and vaporetta station. Room was comfortable and very clean. Good value for money. Some staff were excellent, others acceptable.
We were fortunate to have our window 'overlook the canal(had requested it). Great view, great breakfast
The room are very comfort. I got the free upgrade to the canal view room that make me so surprise and enjoy. Breakfast are good too. Location are find. Just the reception can be better, because the way they talk is not so friendly.
As they sit on a good location, they do not bother looking afer guests . They should at least be friendly
The breakfast buffet was good. This hotel was the worst experience in our entire trip to Europe. The staff made us book an extra room because they said there was no way they could bring in an extra bed for my son because it was against "Italian law" to have 5 people in a room. We stayed in other hotels in Italy and never had these problems.
Loved everything. Wasnt expecting how "posh" it would be. Worth the money. Good breakfast, powerful shower, clean and the view at breakfast. The terrace at evening is only for booked sit down meals and we went at just gone 10pm for a drink as only a couple of tables were being used and even though the drinks would have cost use €20 they turned us away as meals only. Also I know its petty but the coffee at breakfast was cheap quality not nice at all for saying its Italy.
I liked the location near the train station and near other transportation; the neighborhood itself was not so interesting. I have no complaints.
The location was perfect - close to the bus station and the water bus just across the bridge. The tides did not affect the water bus or water taxis like at other stops on the canals. Remember to bring converters for outlets - the hotel does not have any to borrow!
Lovely Venetian style. Friendly, helpful staff. Very convient location. Difficult to get luggage to without water taxi (from cruise terminal, may be fine elsewhere)
The Location For the cost of the hotel the cleaning service was not up to par.
Location excellent. Straight across from train station. Right on Grand Canal. View directly onto canal. Apparently hotel was upgraded in the last 10 years. Rooms are in need of an upgrade again. The rooms are "not" of 4 * standard. Disappointed with bathroom. As Venice is a damp city to visit, the rooms need to be insulated from damp and mustiness particulary that this is a 4* hotel. Hotel is definitely overpriced! :-)
The property was beautiful and clean. The location was so convenient. Close to port, train station, and the Grand Cannal! It was nice that our raye included buffett breakfast. The beds were the only thing I would suggest they improve. For a 4 star property, I was expecting cushier bedding.
the location value for money
The location was fantastic and the room was stunning Nothing
Breakfast was very nice each day. Rooms alittle too small for three people.
Good location close to train station, breakfast included was also very good.
The Carlton was a great location to stay before taking a cruise ship vacation. We obtained a water taxi right from the Hotel to our Cruise ship. There was not a thing that we did not like about our stay at the Carlton.
location was great...room was great would have liked to have had a room overlooking the grand canal because this is one of the reasons we picked this hotel
comfortable quiet room
Comfortable elegant hotel. Very good breakfast. Nice garden. Room very quiet and spacious despite being in busy street in Venice. Being close to the station makes handling luggage and final dash for the train much easier. Nothing
After a very bad first night at a hotel near Rialto bridge, we were very pleased to be welcome at Amadeus; we were allowed to check in before the normal check in time, which was extremely convenient for us as we had luggage. The personnel at the reception was very helpful and welcoming. If ever visiting Venice in the future I will certainly make a reservation a t Amadeus. Thanks and keep up the good work Nothing particularly
Hotel located near the bus area (to get to the airport).Hotel located in a good area of Venise. The noise but I assume every area in Venise is "noisi"
The location is very good (near the rail station) for us who needed to leave very early (6am) the last day. They gave us a bag with breakfast goods since breakfast started at 7am. A very good value for money for us (March 07), but the same hotel for June has doubled the price!! One of the 3 days there was no hot water in the whole Hotel, so we could not take a shower. However this was fixed during the day (it was Sunday).
The breakfast was the only good thing about the Amadeus hotel, the staff were unhelpful, the room too small and dirty and the bathroom was so small as to almost be unusable Poor service - staff would not even come to room, air conditioning did not work, water would not drain from bath, bathroom and bedroom were dirty and too small
Excellent location. Room and bathroom were adequate for our needs. Breakfast was very good with a very good range of food on offer. Not a bad place to stay but as with most Italian hotels we stayed in, I wonder how they achieved a 4 star rating. A couple of dismissive and unhelpful front office staff. No restaurant. Couldn't get a cup of coffee at the bar unless we paid cash, ie. couldn't put it on the bill for the room. And just plain closed one night. We thought we might get a last minute ticket to the Opera but travelling, our clothes were crushed. Could we borrow an iron? No, fire regulations forbid it. OK, fair enough. Did they have an ironing room? No. Could they arrange to have our clothes pressed? No, it's Sunday, bring them down tomorrow? That'll be handy for the Opera tonight. Whole hotel was overheated and could not be cooled because "it was November and the air conditioning is turned off in October and heating turned on". Fortunately the windows opened, even if it was occasionally noisy.
There was easy access to shopping and transporation. Hotel staff was not very friendly or courteous. I expected a more luxirious environment, online advertisement of facility was misrepresented.
