Cons: Many stairs to go to the Room, The First room that we saw not smell good
Cons: Not very close from Espadilla, main Manuel Antonio beach, but has Biesanz Beach close by.
Pros: The hotel was great with an awesome views and landscape. H
Cons: I forgot some things at my room at check-out. I came back 2 hours later and asked for them. They told me to wait while they got them. After 1.5 hours of waiting I just couldn´t get my things back and lost 1.5 hours of my day waiting. I kept asking what happened and they always said 2 more minutes. So I ended up spending 1.5 hours of my weekend in the lobby arguing with the employees for them to tell me we can´t give you your things back
Pros: The hotel itself is truly beautiful and amazing, especially the pool. The staff was mostly nice. The breakfast, drinks, and menu offerings were all tasty, too. The tours through the hotel were great as well. Everything was reasonably priced as well considering how nice the place is. Location was a bit further than other places, but not bad.
Cons: We went for our 10 year anniversary - I wanted to make sure everything was just right. I called twice to confirm the request that our room had a king bed instead of 2 queens. Unfortunately, when we got there, the hotel had already run out of king rooms (tropical). When I first heard of this, I put a sizable bill on the counter to nicely ask about getting it right and all they told me was that we would be moved the next night (Sunday) after other guests left. I was not happy. I later found out from another employee that they had plenty of suites available, but that room was never offered to us. To make matters worse that night, the entire hotel lost water and we were not able to shower after a long day in planes and San Jose. The hotel was solely responsible for us having the only bad night of our trip. The rooms were basic and clean, but having to pack our stuff and move made us VERY unhappy. Oh, and only a couple of the tropical rooms have any ocean view at all - partial at best for those. Don't expect anything special unless you get a suite (which appeared truly wonderful)!
Pros: Wildlife, hiking trails, beach, luxury
Pros: I like being in paradise!!!
Cons: I had to leave :(
Pros: 24 hour pool, great breakfast, clean air conditioned rooms
Cons: Taxi drivers hanging out front. They charge between 3000-6000 collones ($6-12) just to get you out to the main road (less than 2km / around 1 mile) depending on how much they think they can get from you. Hotel does provide a free shuttle, but it doesn't run past 5pm.
Pros: Hotel staff was super nice and helpful, definitely one of the highlights of this property... Another highlight is the location: breathtaking vistas, extensive gardens, great swimming pools and even a Rain Forest trail inside the property!
Cons: The decor was "too much"; I guess the owner likes vintage furniture, but the mix of Spanish Colonial, Italian Renaissance, Indian vintage, and even Asian was not very fortunate and make the place look a little bit cheesy.... Sometimes less is more!!
WHY PARADOR? A parador (stopping place) is a staple of the Spanish countryside, when old castles and convents were transformed into hostelries for weary knights and travelers. Today, Parador Resort & Spa is the only full-service resort located in Manuel Antonio. We have earned a number of prestigious awards not only for our world-class service and amenities, but also for our passionate commitment to both the environment and the community. Pros: Beautiful hotel. Close to activities & great ocean views
Cons: Beds are horrible. Old & no box springs. Seven nights was almost unbearable. Ant's in the room. Overpriced for the supposed best hotel in town.
Pros: The view is incredible, the rooms/beds are comfortable and the breakfast is delicious. Falafel Bar across the street had great food too.
Cons: Some of the staff were rude and came off pretentious. This is especially annoying when you're on vacation and just want to let loose. TOO MANY KIDS. They pretty much took up the entire pool, were loud and spent all day there. I didn't have a moment to enjoy it until I went after 10pm. DO NOT GO TO FRED'S next door. We stepped in for a minute to check it out and the guy immediately hollered at us from across the place that we had to spend at least $10 or we had to leave. Um bye.
The Wi-Fi also went down for an entire day, for the price you pay to stay here this was unacceptable.
La Mariposa Hotel offers an airport shuttle (available on request) for CRC 205.000 per vehicle roundtrip. Guests can indulge in hot stone massages, detox wraps, or body wraps, and grab a bite to eat at Le Papillon, which serves international cuisine and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There are 4 outdoor pools and 2 poolside bars, and rooms at this Mediterranean resort offer balconies and sofa beds.
Pros: The hotel is right next to the rain forest and is pretty amazing! You can see monkeys from your room. It's walking distance to the beach as well. Staff was very good as well.
Cons: The hotel did not have my reservation when I checked in. But it wasn't an issue they got me checked in.
Pros: We stayed in a deluxe room with a king bed and jacuzzi bath. It was outstanding. We could see the ocean from our balcony and the rainforest is quite literaly right next to the property. I can't say enough about how good the experience was. I wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else if I went back. Christian, one of the hotel's concierge staff members, was especially helpful. I went on an excursion and accidentally left my credit card back at the hotel, except I needed it for the excursion. Christian exceeded my expectations by helping with the logistics by finding a workaround to avoid what would have otherwise been a big problem. As a result, I had an amazing experience.
Everything else was incredible - from the swim up bar in the pool to the roof deck. I really can't say enough about it.
Cons: Everything about the property and staff consistently exceeded my expectations. I have no complaints.
Pros: We loved staying here!! The hotel was absolutely gorgeous and the staff was so, so friendly. The staff members greeted us by name and we always felt welcome. The location of the hotel is superb and so close to the beach. I would definitely stay here again!
Cons: No beach view from our room, but the proximity to the beach and other key attractions more than made up for it.
Pros: The location is perfect, right by the park entrance and a 2 minute walk to the beach outside of the park and restaurants/shops. The hotel is really nice, clean and amenities were great, especially the pool with the big slide which was a big hit with the kids. Breakfast was very nice too and had a wide variety of items. The staff were all extremely nice and accommodating.
Cons: The bed was hard and sheets were awful. My daughter slept on a little bed they provided which was more of a cot with no real mattress, so quite uncomfortable. The dinner buffet had little variety although everything was really fresh.

Guests can indulge in spa services and enjoy international cuisine at Puerto Escondido, which is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. An outdoor pool and a poolside bar are other highlights, and rooms offer LED TVs and refrigerators.
Pros: Bed was nice and comfortable. Pretty good location
Cons: Hotel pool was tiny, included breakfast only had 3 small options, and the entire hotel looked like it was built in the Soviet Union in 1970. Our room was in a basement-type area, with little natural light and very poor water pressure. Bad for the price!
Enjoy your visit to Manuel Antonio with a stay at Hotel Mandarina. Guests can enjoy the outdoor pool, and scuba diving and surfing/boogie boarding are nearby. A terrace and a garden are other highlights, and all rooms offer plasma TVs and refrigerators.
Take in the views from the rooftop terrace when you stay at Pacific Paradise Resort. Guests can take a dip in the outdoor pool or grab a bite to eat at Claro de Luna, which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A poolside bar and a bar/lounge are other highlights, and rooms offer furnished balconies or patios and room service.
Pros: We LOVED our stay at Villa Mymosa. Our unit was huge, with a kitchen with all the utensils needed to cook meals & a full-sized fridge/freezer so we could even have ice cream. The pool was the perfect temperature & with only 10 units, it was never crowded. The staff were all friendly & helpful, but our favorite was the owner's dog, Meg. So nice to have a furry head to pet when missing our own!
Villa Mymosa is set a little above town, so you feel separated from the hustle of Quepos. And the monkeys! We saw tons of capuchins, partly because the owner directed us to where they would be during breakfast. How can you complain about a place that has a morning monkey travel report? Great stay, highly recommend.
Cons: No complaints!

Pros: The Kayak Lodge was a very pleasant surprise. We had to cancel our reservation at a VERY expensive resort in Manuel Antonio for logistical reasons and booked the further away Kayak Lodge for a greatly reduced cost ($150/night vs. $400/night). The room, grounds, facilities, common areas, and pool were immaculate. My daughter said that it was the first place we had stayed during the trip (and we stayed at some very fine places) where she felt comfortable walking barefoot in the room. The owner (Marlene) and her staff were friendly and attentive to our needs. When we needed a late check out, we got it. The Manuel Antonio guide Marlene arranged for us (Millia (sp?)) was the best guide we had in Costa Rica! (Millia suggested & arranged a catamaran trip for the next day that was also a LOT of fun). Although the taxi to and from Quepos was about $10 one way (and a little more for Manuel Antonio) it was readily available and what we spent on taxis was more than made up for by what we saved on the room! Breakfast is included (indeed I think Kayak is deemed to be a B&B) and Marlene and her assistants prepared a delicious spread - complete with homemade guava jam! Also included gallo pinto, watermelon, pineapple, fried plantain, eggs, toast, etc. Mangrove tour was also fun. Highly recommend the Kayak Lodge.
Cons: It was a little far from the "action" but we had dinner in Quepos at the marina both nights and don't feel like we missed much by being a little farther out!
Pros: Don Bernard and Doña Marlene are fantastic and all accommodating. The rooms are clean and the food is fresh and good. AC works goof but you have to reset it each time you get back in the room.
Cons: You've got to have a car. We depended on taxis, but they hooked us up with Michael who took us everywhere we wanted to go. With that said, we couldn't walk anywhere, there's absolutely nothing near the place other the mangrove right next door. The air conditioning goes out when the door is open and you have to turn it back on when you get back in the room.
When visiting Damas, Kayak Lodge is a great choice to consider. Guests can splash around at the outdoor pool or grab a bite to eat at the coffee shop/café. Other highlights include a terrace and a garden, and rooms offer LED TVs and free WiFi.
Pros: This hotel gets high marks from out while family. We had three rooms for two days for six adults and two very young children (11months old and 3 years old). The staff is outstanding from the front desk to the cleaning staff everyone made our stay very pleasant. The rooms were modern, clean and very comfortable. The only issues we had were lack of hot water early the first morning and very noisy the first night due to football celebrations everywhere around the hotel (the rooms are not soundproof in any way). They offer secure parking about two blocks away but there is pleanty of on street parking for loading and unloading and parking long term if you want. We really loved the food in the on site Resturant and the ice cream parlor just outside the hotel.
It was very close to Manuel Antonio National Park and beach. Which is where we spent a lot of our time. They also help arrange tours if you want them and several in our group went on the mangrove tour.
Beautiful location, fantastic sunsets. We really loved our trip.
Pros: Location down town
Friendly staff who are eager to assist
Cons: Internet is very patchy
Parking is away from the hotel and very tight, resulting in my car scratched by another.
Pros: Staff by far was the best quality. The front counter employees were very helpful and very nice, and the people working in the restaurant were great too.
Cons: Parking was horrible. We got there late at night and the private parking lot (which was not even in the same city block as the hotel) was full. I parked in front of the hotel and was told a private guard ar night would watch the cars. In the morning I could see evidence of somebody trying to break into my rental car.
Also, apparently there was a karaoke near by that went nonstop all noght both nights we stayed there, rooms were not bery sound proof. If nightlife is your thing then this is a good hotel for you, if you want a quiet nights sleep, I suggest looking elsewhere.
Pros: The room was huge with 2 king beds. There are 3 of us so the size was great. The people were great, as are most Costa Ricans.
Cons: Beds were hard. There is no direct access to the ocean, across the street.
