Hotel Da Rocha

They didn’t supply their guests with tissues, and their beach towel policy needs to be updated, to something more modern

Very good location, across the street from the beach and close to many shops and restaurants. Room was spacious and had lots of storage room. Breakfast had a great variety to choose from and the food was quite nice.

we booked a room with frontal sea view, we got one on the 1st floor from which we saw a giant electronic publicity panel and the roof of a shop. The balcony had glass all around but as it was not clear glass and was a tall balcony, once you sat down on the chair you could only gaze at the glass around you and nothing else. Neither The towels nor the linen were changed once in all the 3 days we were there and the floor was cleaned once, all the other days it was left with sand that we inevitably bring back from the beach. On one of the mornings, we had to wait in a queue to be seated for breakfast - I have never had this happen to me in any other hotels ever. The staff we spoke to during check-in and check-out were not friendly and although we didn’t have any special requests or complaints, they seemed as though they were doing us a favour and did not once say a “welcome” or “thank you for your stay” or “safe journey back”. It might seem like a petty statement but to me it’s just being polite and it’s always nice to hear. We also didn’t get told where things like the pool, spa, restaurant or anything was in the hotel. The room had a kettle but no complimentary (or even to pay for) tea/coffee was available in the room (again a first for me in a hotel - especially a 4 star one). The lifts took FOREVER so most guests would use the stairs to go up and down the 8 floors to their rooms or down the 3 floors to the spa, pool and parking area.

Breakfast service had a lot of variety and house keeping was great
