Miguel and Rita are incredibly helpful and friendly, suggesting things to do, writing out maps with suggestions for things to do and setting you up with everything you need while you're visiting the Azores. Once you are booked, they send a welcome message, make sure you can get to the lodge and are comfortable. The rooms and shared spaces are kept meticulously clean, and the kitchen has everything you need to make your own meals. Laid back and relaxed guests and atmosphere. The back patio and pool are very relaxing in the morning and between adventures. Smart touches like fingerprint entry make staying here a breeze. I would've liked another pillow, but I probably just could have asked and they would've been happy to get it for me. Not really anything to dislike here!
The estate is beautiful and the rooms are lovely – ours had a working fireplace and plenty of wood to put in it. The kitchen is also very nice and clean. Be forewarned that the bathrooms are not ensuite for most rooms. The location isn't terrible, but it's far from great – it's a 25 minute walk into the center of town, and the walk is not an interesting one.
