The Hard Rock Hotel is unapologetically a flip of another hotel property which HRH completed in 2012. The location is amazing giving guests easy access to all Cancun has to offer within minutes by cab or bus. The beach and water is spectacular and probably what made the remodel attractive. The food is excellent in all restaurants, & we found the buffet quality to be on par with most sit down restaurants. There are shops and bars on property, a well equipped fitness center including hoops & tennis courts. The outdoor amphitheater is a very cool touch and has events nightly. We caught the Queen tribute show and the band was really exceptional. The grounds are clean, compact and very well maintained. The infinity pool transitions visually perfect with the beach view. The best part of the hotel by far is the staff top to bottom. We were consistently engaged by staff at all levels in a polite, respectful and service oriented fashion. It was clear that this team understands and appreciates what business they are in. Well done HRH!
There are some things that didn’t work for us at the Hard Rock Hotel. We were on the 3rd floor /Royal level. The room had an electrical issue and an electrician fixed the problem in 24 hours. No concessions were made. The lighting is ceiling zoned spot lights. We could never find a comfortable pattern as the lights were harsh yet not quite positioned right to apply makeup over the bathroom sinks. There is a guitar lesson TV channel & you can order a guitar & amp for the room. Unfortunately, the inventory isn’t big enough and we were never able to get one. Studio time is also limited & we were also unable to find time in 3 days. One of the most bizarre annoyances was The Rock Shop. It had a great selection of HRH merch but only small or XL sizes for nearly every item! We bought nothing. As an all inclusive, HRH can’t find a better way for guests to make dinner reservations than to force guests to stand in a reservation request line every day for 30-45 minutes. Surely there’s a better system. Finally, either it was the crowd or the brand, but we were constantly surrounded by smokers by the pool or on the beach. There’s a very liberal smoker policy or it isn’t well enforced, not sure. However, for the most part, if we mentioned something, smokers usually moved with apology.

The restaurants from the hotel are good (considering HR standard), the service was also in general good with very friendly people at the bar/restaurants. The beach is beautiful but had a red flag all long the week and somedays with few seaweed in the water.
The whole I had someone from HR commercial dpt following me in the hotel trying to convince to attend a breakfast with their team. They are well located just in front of the lifts so they kind of control all your steps. Awful experience which I didn´t have at Punta Cana HR, maybe because the Cancun one is much smaller. Another problem is that I could only open the sun umbrella in 2 out of 7 days during my stay. The official explanation is due to the wind which, to be honest, doesn´t make any sense considering the wind level at the week and that there are thousands of ways to avoid this problem.

Big pool, good location, very friendly staff.
Food and beverages. Not a lot of options, the restaurants are not good at all, drinks at the pool bars go from horrible to ok and, the food at the pool area is nasty.
