Very clean. Well-organised. Convenient to public transportation. Great value. Quiet rooms. Grocery store next door if needed. Minor point, but no convenience items (paper, pencil/pen, laundry bag, lotion, etc.) in the room. Only blackout curtains, so no way to have privacy during the day from the office building across the street without shutting out all sunlight from the room. Some sheer curtains would be nice. Some scrambled eggs at the buffet breakfast would be a nice addition.
The hotel is nice, warm and very well located beside the tram line to town. I was worried it was a little far out but with the tram across the street you're only about 10minutes from centraal. There is no privacy really in the bedrooms - the way the shower and toilet are you would really want to be very comfortable with who you're travelling with!
CitizenM is a quite stylish place to stay in Amsterdam. Downtown is easy to reach taking the tram. The entertainment system and the large bed add a great value to the comfortable atmosphere in the room.
staff was very accommodating. : internet access; the snack area I asked for 2 beds and did not know the rooms only had one bed; the shower leaked all over the room; the sink drained slowly; I did not like the bathroom and shower open to the room. No desk; no place to put your luggage; no desk; no place to watch TV unless you sat on the bed
I liked the unique design, mood lighting, and automation of the bedrooms. The canteen and lobby are a great idea and are very comfortable. Most of the staff were fantastic. There are parking issues, especially on weekends. Most parking metres operate on prepaid cards and the closest cash metre was 3 blocks away and only accepted coins, which at over €21 was a lot of change. One lady at hotel refused to make change for me and forced me to go into the shops several blocked away and told me it's not their problem.
Staying at the hotel was an experience of its own. Amsterdam is great, but I found myself wanting to come back to the hotel to explore all the cool amenities. While the tram is conveniently close, it is a pain to go to and from the city center because it's a 20 minute journey of its own.
I picked the place as it was close to the conference I had to attend. I definetely enjoyed my stay. Appreciated the quality of the bed, bedlinen, even shower gel was very good, which is not typical for hotels at all. Hotel is very stylish. You can get a snack and a drink any time of the day and night. Staff was very professional and easy going. Definetelly a yes. I understand that the hotel is not for all the types of travellers. You are not supposed to spend a lot of time inside the room, just change, have a shower, sleep or relax and watch tv. For that purpose rooms is suited perfectly. If you want to work or spend more time in the room, you have to go downstairs. It is really the hotel for the young type of travellers. What distrubed me a bit was the temperature in the room and a bit of noise at night. Nothing dramatic though.
Ideal place for the young couple with the habit of being always online
Smart design Seems a little impractical (wrt the bathroom facilities) for the first time user. May be one will get used to but given this was my first time, I was not very impressed.
For people going to the rai exhibition centre, the location is excellent. Its a short walk through a pleasant park. Citizen m is not for me. I found it pretentious, amateurish and over- ppriced. The staff are all youngsters in t-shirts and baseball boots. The breakfast was terrible and eaten at high stools to loud techno music. Check-in and check-out are done on computers and you have to pay an extra fee to use a credit card - the only time I have ever been asked to do this in a hotel. The room was uncomfortable with the bed filling the window end and the shower, lavatory and wash-basin (the size of a coffee cup) in the room with you. There was the feel of the 1960s cult tv programme, The Prisoner, about it.
A big bed and a see-through shower The shower leaked, it was no great problem however
Ideal for design lovers. I have particularly appreciated to spend time in the different areas of the lobby where you can feel to be like at home. Downtown can be easly reached with bus n. 5. Older people might find difficulties in dealing with such a technological hotel.
The room was spacious, especially by European standards. There were lovely amenities such as an electric teapot and exresso maker, bottled water and welcome chocolates. It had the most comfortable bed I've ever had in a hotel. The hotel is not in the museum area and it was necessary to walk to the tram which was 4 or 5 blocks to get to the museums. It would have been great if a free breakfast had been offered.
Great location, easy access to downtown Amsterdam. Clean, modern, comfortable and reasonably priced.
Very nice lokation and so frirndly.I Love it No

The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Having to pay for the Internet. For this being a hotel geared toward business travelers that should be included.
I enjoyed the small luxury features of the hotel. This included the nice chocolates/cookies complimentary to the room and the bath robe and slippers in the closet. I did not like the location of the hotel. There was also a bit of construction around the site of the hotel.
The hotel is new and the room was very nice, clean, and more than adequate. The staff were very well trained and acknowledged me every time with a ready smile and were anxious to please. The hotel is located in the Business district in Amsterdam, therefore you must travel to any point of interest. Thankfully, it is a short walk to the South Station, which is both a Tram and Train station.
Very close to public transportation. Clean and comfortable. Somewhat sterile neighborhood - on the plus side, it is quiet, but if you are looking for convenient restaurants or bars that are *not* from the hotel itself, you may have a difficult time. No mini fridge other than minibar, and wifi may not be free
The staff members were highly professional. The room was clean. The bedding was comfortable. It is not centrally located in Amsterdam, however, it was just a few stops down the tram line from the city center.
When bidding on Priceline the map is entitled 'Musuem Quarter-Rai Center' Be aware that this decription covers a lot of ground. The hotel I bought was EXCELLENT but a long way away from the Museums Not happy that the map covers more area than one can easily walk in what is mostly a walking city.
The location and how clean it was. Price for breakfast very high.
Rooms were good and towels were terrific Not a great location - surrounded by office buildings - very sterile neighborhood. Everything closed down after 6pm.
friendly staff very expensive for breakfast
Stuff is kind.
Location was decent if you are travelling to amsterdam arena
Breakfast No communication on parking option next to the hotel (much cheaper than Novotel)
Green apples at the reception too cold, and staff took a long time to process an already paid service for 5 people.
it has free parking and there was a very nice, modern design and comfort hotel for all the hotel was far from the city center. internet access and some of favorite pay TV channels was very expensive
No breakfast included in price
Convenient to RAI. Uncomfortable beds, antique hair dryers, slow and slight erratic elevators, long lines in reception, slow and error-prone room service
the room looks very nice :) The hotel served a variety of delicious and fresh breakfast. My friends and I enjoyed the stay there! A little far from city center.
Near convention centre Expense
Design Room was too cold and heating was not properly.
Large and comfortably beds. Fair Price. 20-30 Min to Centraal Station via Tram The Rooms have no Windows! You even cant see whats the weather like. As we entered the room it was very stinky and we couldnt get some fresh air, because there is no window... And the worst: the bathroom is not separated the room. the toilet is right behind the bed, seperated by one wall but without any door. even if you love your partner there is absolutly no privatsphere. i would never book a hotel like this again.
Did not like how open the rooms were, no privacy for the bathroom or shower. Would like some separation in the room!
For such a low price, I was impressed with the ease of travelling to the city centre, great public transport links. No privacy when using the toilet! You could not stay in these rooms with someone unfamiliar, it wouldn't be too hard to at least put a screen up.
The bed is very good!
Very beautiful and strange
Close to airport, funky, clean, friendly staff. Not close to many restaurants, not many food options.
Second stay in the last month at the Qbic. Great hotel, incredible beds and great price.
The noise of the railway on 25th November during the night was so loud that my partner & I had no sleep that evening. In fact I would request a refund as the vibrations & noise werer so disruptive & invasive
light effects and king size bed rooms smaller than in pictures,no door for bathroom
very practical located no door in the wc and no room heating
excellent value for the quality since it was opened for only two days there were some unfinished details that need to be polished.
The hotel is located next to the Rai Train Station which is only 2 stops from the airport. It is also next to the tram terminal so transportation into city central is very convenient. For those who would like to stay out late or have lots of amenities and things to do near the hotel, this would not be an ideal location.
Upon arrival we were greeted in a most friendly manner, English/Dutch was not a problem to converse. Dinner/bar waiter most helpful, drinks and meal excellent. Check out first class, taxi called to go to city. Recommend.
Prices in Restaurant and bar and mini bar prices
The closness to the RAI as we were in Amsterdam for METS. Also the nearby tram for easy rides into the city centre. The restaurant was very convenient and welcoming. The food was quite good. There should be more information about the hotel amenities in the room - such as prices for items in the minibar.
Mid-range comfortable hotel. Very frindly staff. Parking charge, €25 per night!
The comfortable environment of the Holiday Inn and the easy connection by bus to the center.
The staff was great.
Really enjoyed your doormand and the bartenders in the bar. Great guys with a great sense of humor! Our room was really hot. We were not able to get the air working at all. Otherwise the room was fine. Great shower.
I liked the size and comfort of the room. It was quite and good for resting The room was a little cold and could not adjust the temperature
Their lobby No proper heating system and arougant staff that do not care about customer satisfaction, however, they are cahrging premium
Nice hotel withinf area of free parking in Amsterdam with easy access to center via Tram 5. perfect for someone traveling with car. Insulation aroubd the windows is pretty bad so you can hear everything outside and you feel the air flow.
Fairly new hotel with good modern rooms. Some minor issues: 1. Floor in Parquet does not suit everyone 2.Good walk-in shower had no shelves or other places to put soap, shampoo etc. 3. Bathroom lighting inadequate for above sink mirror. Overall, this is a very nice hotel but it is new and there are still a few minor tweaks needed to make it even better.
Nearness to RAI, quite residential area, short walk to public transportation. The shower was not enough powerfull. Difficulty in mixing warm and cold water to the right temperature. Had to play with the tap every time I took a shower.Water came out too hot or too cold.
got a nice women-room with extra care-products etc, free sauna and fitnessroom. good breakfast can't open a window - even for a few centimeters
It was a wonderful time. The hotel and room were very clean and tidy. It is in a calm area 15min by tram from city centre and 10min walking to get the hotel. Or you can go by bus as well. But it really doesn't matter. I could see Amsterdam in another view, to be in touch with the neighbours (very nice ones). I stayed there for 4 days and I have just one thing to complain, food and drinks too pricy. Congratulations Netherlands!!! Amazing city and citizens.
The room was very comfortable and clean and calm
Nicely decorated and modern rooms, huge bathroom! The shower did not really produce an awful lot of water....
Friendly personnel, clean room and bathroom, easy tv and internet acess. Comfortable bed, good food and the option to chose your pillow. Free parking is always a plus in Amsterdam. I was under the impression that Internet was free in the rooms. Furthermore everything was good.
Clean and quiet. Fair price/quality ratio Although the hotel had been notified a long while in advance that the stay was a honeymoon, the room had two separate single beds and the minibar was empty so we had to look for alternatives to find cool drinks outside the hotel since the hotel bar was closed and no other options were offered.
Nice designed room, and very clean. Friendly staff. When we ariived we had to pay except for the whole amount of our stay, extra 50 euro per day, which were given back to us the day we left. They told us that we prepay any additional service that we will use during our stay there, as drinks from the fridge etc.
Comfort Being English no tea making facilities in the room Also no where to hang your towels
It is far from Luxury hotel description ! Interior of rooms is nice , but at least half of all rooms are on street level facing cars and walking people in distance 1 m from window; staff in reception is not friendly, simply they are there for tennis players, hotel offers two category of spas , the only simple one and crowded is for hotel guest free.
The spa is large, has lots of different types of saunas and pools, and offers "guided" sessions in the saunas throughout the day. The hotel room is OK, with just a standard quality bed (not a super comfort bed or linens). The shower is large, but otherwise nothing special in the bath area. Security is very tight into the gym and sauna areas and requires the front desk staff to issue a new wrist band each time you try to enter or exit the area beyond your room on the day you are checking out. You have to bring your own robe and slippers or have to rent them from the hotel. You also have to bring your own towels to the spa or bring them from your room.
Rooms are spotlessly clean, very modern, good bus service to town, excellent spas (yes there is a free one there as well as the paid one). No room service or coffee/tea facilities in rooms. The staff wasnt too familiar with the bus lines (170 and 172 to city center) and only recommended cabs which are expensive in Amsterdam (30 Euros from airport for example instead of 6 Euros for 2 to the Suid railway station, a 5 minute trip and bus 171 to the Koenenkade stop for a couple of stops.
modern rooms, great bathroom unknown to most Taxi drivers
The relaxed atmosphere and friendly, and helpful staff. Although we did not use the sports or spa facilities, it added to our enjoyment seing other people taking part. Two small things, only one chair in a double room, and my husband was very frustrated with the handbasin, not being able to plug the water and its narrow depth.
It was located in a park & had a wonderful & useful spa & fitness center No working elevator-they had just opened. It was difficult with luggage.
comfortable hotel, some way from the city centre although 5 minutes walk from a good bus route in, and an excellent spa
very clean and modern hotel, with friendly staff and full usage of the gym included in the great price
The SPA is huge and truly amazing - the best I've been to so far. My room (standard) was well-equipped and exceptionally clean. Some might not like the fact that the hotel is in the same building with a sports center. Also, a bit hard to find. But, really, the marvelous experience in hotel's SPA eclipses all the small shortcomings.
Rooms are very comfortable and modern. Location is okay but diffucult to go into the city unless you have a car.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was decorated using modern furniture. The bathroom was very small and the shower smelt.
Hotel environment & cleanliness No lift when I bring heavy baggages
good location on tram route and close to Amsterdam RAI. Friendly staff No lift! Stairs were very steep and almost impossible for some visitors if staying on upper floors (4 / 5 stories) with heavy luggage. Breakfast not really worth having, little choice and no variety each day
Staff, proximity to conference venue and trams. The price for what you get.
very comfortable beds, nice breakfast
I love everything about the Hotel V: price, location, staff, rooms. Like most European hotels, the rooms are small, but Hotel V has proven that you can make a small room feel larger and comfortable. There was no more noise in this hotel than others. I always travel with ear plugs and solves that problem.
I liked the style of the rooms, the furniture was cool although the room was very small but in the end had everything you might want, maybe they should add air conditioning - holland weather is not as hot, though. For me it was not a bigger issue but the hotel does not have the elevator and it had the typical holland stairs, which are really narrow, let's say that you have a huge baggage then it will be a bit hard to move...i suggest this hotel to young couples, quick travellers, maybe not recommended for families.
Clean, satelite TV Noisy until 3.00am. Very thin walls.
Friendly staff. Close location from trams 4, 25 or 12, size and comfort of bed. Good breakfast. Poor sound insulation between rooms . Single bed not so comfortable. Difficulty to park (but not specifical to this hotel)
The staff were lovely and the room nicely designed. The only refreshments were via a vending machine.
very friendly and worth the money
Room often comes with free bike rental during your stay. Physical keys for doors, very loud while using them, could hear others in the hallways opening locks etc. Nothing major just a bit of a pain.
Central location A bit grotty
Nice and helpful staff. Clean room. Good location. Room too small. Breakfast is poor.
easy to get transpot, clean Not cheap at all, but compare to othet choices in ams, that is the price
The food was good, fresh bread, meats and cheese, 2 choices of cereal, fresh and canned fruit, spreads and teas, everything kept topped up. The staff were friendly, it was relatively quiet. It's close to the Tram 4 to take you to site seeing. It's the cheapest hotel online. The room could've been dusted better: surfaces, drawer. The bathroom didn't smell fresh and the bottom of the shower was lined with warped linoleum.
OK value for money. Good location. Expect Chinese staff. You'll find the room and shared bath incredibly small. Trust me, you'll never find any smaller bath anywhere else, as you basically can't move once you're in there.
very small rooms for 2 persons, unconvenious bathroom and old furniture, thin doors-we can hear all sounds. When I arrived to hotel, on reception I pay second time money what blocked on my card by cash. And man sad- "It's no problem, I unblock deposit right now!" , now is 5 walking days come, and my money don't return on my card... It's not suitable for me
The staff was EXCELLENT! They were always available and willing to help in any way. They were also very knowledgeable about the city and sights. I came back to my room multiple times thinking " I can't believe how polite and nice the staff is here" Breakfast was decent. Meat, toast, fruit, cereal, coffee, tea, orange juice…. While having a drink at a local pub, a local Amsterdamer commented that he has lived across the street from the Hotel Flipper for many years. He said he likes the neighborhood very much and has always thought highly of the hotel. I thought the location was perfect for us. It is very close to the #4 tram line (about 5-7 min ride to Dam Square). We liked how it was outside the downtown traffic, noise, and crowds but was still very close to everything. The hotel is just off a main street that has ample restaurants, corner market stores, flower shops, coffee shops (quieter then the ones downtown), pubs, and other things. From Central Station, the cab ride (2 people, 4 bags) was over 21 euro. From our hotel to the Schiphol airport (same people and bags) was 25 euro. Use Schiphol express cab service, they charge per Km not minute. Overall, I would recommend Hotel Flipper to anyone visiting Amsterdam.
